Zeus doesn’t just enjoy human company — he truly needs it, and forms deep, meaningful bonds with those he trusts. He has a medium energy level and enjoys a balance of playtime and quiet time. At this time, Zeus needs to be the only dog in the home. He may be able to live with a dog-savvy cat with proper introductions and guidance. Zeus has severe separation anxiety and must have an adopter who is home most of the time. He would thrive in a home with someone who works from home, is retired, or otherwise has a lifestyle that allows them to be consistently present. Being with his person is what helps Zeus feel safe, calm, and secure. Ongoing support from a veterinarian and a professional trainer will be important as he continues to build confidence and work through his challenges. Zeus’s needs are significant, but so is his capacity for love. Carlos came in after being abandoned by his owner multiple times. The First time he was given away after knowing one family for his first year of life. Then after only spending a mere few days with the new owner, Carlos found himself on the side of a busy road. A passerby gained his trust and got him into their car and to us at Ayres. Carlos is very unsure of new situations, but he loves his people tirelessly. Carlos has gained a bit more confidence since coming in, but he needs a family to continue to learn about what is good in the world. Carlos should be in an adult home.
