To adopt please fill out an adoption Application  Very sweet and friendly!  Lola is a 5yo female pit bull terrier mix who was rescued just in time from the Memphis kill shelter. Gentle, sweet, friendly, well-socialized. Good with other dogs and living with 2 other dogs in her foster home. Not cat tested. Great with kids. Medium energy level outside, settles down quickly inside, quiet and well-mannered, low maintenance. Affectionate with her people and loves to cuddle. Crate trained and housebroken. Good on a leash, rides great in the car.  When she first came to us, Lola had heartworms but she was treated and cured and is now ready for adoption. Healthy and fully vetted, current on shots. Weighs about 55 pounds. Sweet, loving terrier mix will make a wonderful companion (and jogging partner!) for an active family who loves the breed. To adopt please fill out an adoption Application Contact us at reply@happydogrescue.org  visit us at http://www.happydogrescue.orgJanuary 23, 2026, 6:46 am

Story
Updated 26Jan26 South Status: Available for Foster or Adoption About Me South was rescued from the streets of South Memphis, where he was found injured but not alone. What started as an attempt to trap a puppy turned into saving three adult dogs (and the puppy!) — because sometimes that’s how rescue works. South was one of the dogs who needed help, and we’re so glad we found him. South arrived with injuries that are unfortunately common for dogs surviving on the streets. One of his front paw pads was partially missing, and his ears show signs of past trauma. Despite this rough start, South has shown remarkable resilience and a strong desire for connection. Personality South is social, affectionate, and very people-oriented at heart. While he was initially shy and nervous in the boarding environment (which is completely understandable), he has steadily learned to trust the staff caring for him. As that trust grows, it’s clear that South really wants a person of his own. He enjoys companionship, seeks out affection, and shows a gentle, hopeful nature once he feels safe. South is not pushy or demanding — just quietly eager for connection. Socialization South was found alongside other dogs and has shown himself to be social and friendly with other dogs. He does best with calm introductions and benefits from reassurance in new environments. Medical Notes South has healed from his initial street injuries, including damage to one of his front paw pads and his ears. These injuries are consistent with life on the streets and are now being managed appropriately. He is otherwise doing well and ready to continue healing in a home environment. Energy Level Moderate. South enjoys interaction and companionship but also appreciates calm, steady routines. He is still decompressing from his time on the streets and in boarding. Ideal Home South would thrive in a foster or adoptive home that can provide: Patience and reassurance Consistent routines Time to fully settle in and build confidence He is looking for a safe place where he can finally relax and enjoy being a loved companion. Why South? Because South is proof that even after a hard start, hope remains. He’s healed, handsome, affectionate, and ready for the chance to belong. Pictures truly don’t do him justice — South is even more striking in person.

Updated 30Nov25 *Temperament** Ezra is an adorably mischievous puppy who has mastered the art of being a professional snuggler and belly rub enthusiast. His playful spirit is contagious, and he's always ready to make you smile. His foster mom says he's one of the best dogs she has ever had! *Socialization* As the star of adoption events, Ezra has quickly become a canine celebrity. Currently residing in a foster home with multiple dogs, he thrives on social interaction and is the life of the puppy party, always eager to play and make new friends. *Training* Ezra is house trained and has great house manners. Although he still thinks the couch is a trampoline, he is crate trained and only sleeps there when he's tired of being the center of attention. His housetraining is solid, though there might be the occasional "oops moment that adds to his charm. *Background* Rescued from a local shelter in mid-2022, Ezra narrowly avoided the dreaded "euthanasia list, and he's grateful for every belly rub he receives. He's living the dream in his foster home, convinced he's the best thing since sliced bread. Ezra is longing for a forever home where he can share his love and joy. *Black Dog Syndrome* Ezra is a proud black dog, and while he embodies all the love and joy that any dog can bring, he is often overlooked due to the common phenomenon known as Black Dog Syndrome. Many people have a bias against black dogs, often attributing negative stereotypes to them. However, Ezra is proof that a dog's color does not determine their worth or personality. He is loving, playful, and eager to find a forever home where his unique charm can shine.

Story
Updated 21Sep25 **Meet Moriah - The Playful Sweetheart!** *Background* Hey, hooman! I'm Moriah, your soon-to-be favorite four-legged friend! I was discovered by the amazing Gladys, who found me running along Mt. Moriah like I was training for the Puppy Olympics. I was with what she thought was my brother, but he decided to audition for the role of "Most Elusive Pup and ran off into the woods. Lucky for me, Gladys is a superhero and brought me to safety. Now I'm in a temporary foster home, perfecting my puppy charm in hopes of finding my forever family! *Personality Traits* I'm super sweet and smart-think of me as the cute little genius of the dog park! I'm a professional toy destroyer and a certified expert in the art of "fetch-and-fetch-again. Playing with my foster dog pals is my favorite pastime, and I promise to keep you entertained with my adorable antics. Warning: excessive laughter may occur! *Socialization* I'm a social butterfly! I get along fabulously with other dogs, and I'm always ready to make new friends. Just call me the "Dog Whisperer of the pack! I'm still getting used to humans, but once I do, you'll have a snuggle buddy who thinks you're the best thing since squeaky toys! *Training* I'm eager to learn and ready to impress! With a sprinkle of treats and a dash of patience, I'll be mastering commands like sit, stay, and why are you so lucky to have me? in no time. Did I mention I'm pretty good at puppy eyes? It's one of my secret training techniques! *Adoption Info* So, if you're looking for a sweet, playful companion to add some joy (and lots of laughter) to your life, I might just be your gal! More about my fabulous self will be coming soon, but I can't wait to find a loving family that's ready for some puppy shenanigans. Are you ready to welcome this little ball of joy into your heart and home?
