Meet Rosalind!  Rosalind came to us from a neglect case with four other dogs, and she is now looking for a cozy place to call home. Rosalind is a beautiful black and white pit bull terrier mix, and she was born in early 2019. One look at Roz and you can tell she's had a tough start to her life, she has more than her fair share of scratches and scars. This includes one larger scar along her ribs where this poor baby was actually shot when she was just a pup. Thankfully, nothing she's ever been through has left any lasting damage, and she is now healthy as can be in our care. Even though Rosalind has had it bad, she is still such a positive girl. She is incredibly friendly, and she loves everyone she meets. She gives the best kisses, great snuggles, and has the prettiest doggy smile. They gave me some food, and dang did it feel good to eat! They said my breed is 'pitbull', and they gave me a birthday too! April 29, 2021, which sounds like a pretty good birthday to me. Not that any of that matters to me, I'm just happy to have so many friends! They told me that they're trying to find me my very own family, can you believe it? It must be wonderful to have a place to call home. Some things about me are I love toys, stuffies, and anything to chew. Snacks are a must, but don't come near my food bowl unless you want me to get grumpy, I’m still learning to share, I really enjoy slow feeders, puzzle feeders, etc. I love running, jumping, and exploring, but more than anything else I LOVE playing in the water! Squeaklynn is a very outgoing  girl who absolutely loves her squeaky toys, which may or may not have anything to do with her name! She is very hyper and will do fantastic with adopters that can her busy! On top of her spunky personality, she has so much love to offer behind those big brown eyes! Squeaklynn is excellent on a leash and knows basic commands like "sit" and "speak" and is super treat motivated! This sweet girl is absoulutely amazing with other dogs, cats, and children! With children they need to know how to handle her, when she does become excited she will become mouthy without any agression behind it, and that can be fixed with proper correction! Squeaklynn loves other dogs so much that we reccomend having another buddy in the home with her! Saturn is truly the Queen of Hearts at our shelter, and we are totally devoted to her. One of our volunteers says: "Saturn loves all of her friends so deeply that I feel humbled by the capacity of her heart." **We are so grateful to our friends at the Ryan Animal Rescue Foundation who are sponsoring FREE training for six weeks through GoodPup for Saturn and her new family!** Saturn is five years old and weighs 52 pounds. Her black and white coat is beautifully marked. She has a warmth and equanimity that make her a sought after companion. Saturn is an absolute joy to be around and we all savor her company. Saturn has such a zest for life! She will roll around on her back and kick up her legs, truly living in the moment with so much joy. She also loves belly rubs. Saturn trots companionably at your side on daily walks and enjoys exploring the shelter grounds. She also likes to be in the fenced yard and her favorite thing is playing fetch. She will leap high into the air to catch a toy you toss her way and is so agile, athletic and graceful! Saturn likes to go to the toy box and select the ones she wants to play with! Saturn has also enjoyed outings with some of our volunteers and is a great representative for our shelter! She has also had several sleepovers and been a cherished guest. Saturn is a bright dog who has already mastered the sit, give paw, come and stay commands, and is working on down. The daughter of one of our volunteers says Saturn makes her feel calm inside. She has done so well with the children of several of our volunteers. Saturn is such a great dog! She has a serenity of spirit that makes her a joy to be around. Saturn is the perfect dog to be at your side during the day and curl up at your feet at night! Saturn spent some out of the shelter time in the home with one of our dedicated volunteers and here is what Betty Ann says about her: "She is a lover! Saturn is super affectionate and gives lots of hugs and kisses. She is easy on the leash and loves long walks on the trail. Balls are her favorite toy. She'll pounce on them and bring them back to you. She's not a picky eater and loves all kinds of treats - and will sit for them. Saturn is super soft and barely sheds. She thinks she's a lap dog. Saturn would benefit from a fenced in yard where she can run. Its been a pleasure to have her in our home. She has brought us so much joy! Saturn will be a loyal friend to whomever chooses her and gives her the life she deserves." Two of our devoted volunteers have frequently hosted Saturn at their house when the shelter is closed and Sara reports: "Saturn is a bouncy dog, playful and joyful and happy in your company. She also loves playing quietly at your feet enjoying her chewy toys. She is always up for a walk or playtime in the yard, but is easy and content when inside with her people. She loves people she knows and loves affection. She is eager to learn how to be a good dog and she needs some guidance with that because she has lived at Animal Control half of her young life. She wants a person who will be kind and patient but firm with her while she learns. She needs to be an only pet in the a calm house. Saturn is wonderful to have around the house. She is sweet and good natured and very good company. Saturn is loved by everyone at Animal Control and She will be the best dog ever if you put in the time and love she deserves." She may only be adopted by someone experienced with a dog who is protective of her people around strangers. She must be put in another room securely when strangers enter the house and room. And Saturn must be properly introduced or remain in another room. She needs a patient, experienced owner who can work with her, provide structure, and help her feel secure. Landry is one of those sadly and insane stories of a dog spending month after month at a small rural shelter and constantly facing the chance of being the next one euthanized.  The shelter workers were determined to not let that happen.  They fought and they finally won the threat of him never leaving when they found a foster lady to take Landry and keep him safe out of the shelter and helping him search for a home.  This boy was so upset at the shelter because it is not a good environment to live when you just want to play and run and of course there is no room to do that in a small kennel!  The shelter people KNEW that Landry was a dog they needed to help save.  Yes he is a Pitbull mix….but his heart is that of a Golden Retriever temperament. Landry has proven himself to be a great boy and just as friendly and loving with people as a Golden Retriever would be.  He is exceptional with kitties and EXCELLENT with other dogs! This boy just wants to have fun and help everyone around him to enjoy life together with him.  Landry is already neutered, HW-, has 4 rounds of vaccines currently and rabies all done!! He’s 100% ready for his forever home! He does great sleeping in a crate at night and loves snuggle and belly rub time!! Landry is 40ish pounds, and is truly NOT a big dog at all. He’s a short stocky boy that is estimated to be around 8 months. Meet Leonidas!  What this handsome boy lacks in height he makes up for in personality. Leonidas is a sweet little guy, he's the most loveable bulldog mix. He came to us as a stray in mid August, but he has been friendly and loving from the start. He has the biggest personality, he loves to run around and play the day away. If he were a person, he would be an athlete for sure. Energetics aside, he is a total ham! Mr. Leo is one of the biggest lovers on the planet, he loves nothing more than getting good scratches all around his cheeks and under his chin. Belly rubs are his favorite past-time, and he would make a killer movie-night partner. Leo has gone through lots of training here with us too, he knows the 'sit' command like the back of his paw, and will also walk well on a leash for a confident handler. Unfortunately, on 08/30/2021, Leo was diagnosed with heartworms.This poor guy went through almost a year of treatments, but we are happy to announce that he is now heartworm negative and ready to find his forever home!
