Story
**Currently fostered in Willis Texas** Kyra is a happy go lucky pup who found herself abandoned on the streets. She was emaciated, had poor skin and just full of worms. Thankfully an amazing woman found her and took her in. She got her clean, well fed, and fully vetted. Now, Kyra is ready to start the next chapter in her adventure! Kyra is just under 2 years old, and is a total hambone of a dog. We believe she is some kind of pitbull, retriever, hound mix. Basically what we call, a Texas Street Special! Whatever her breed, she is all adventure pup and very eager for life. Kyra loves people, I don't think she could ever meet a stranger. She's extremely loving, and enjoys cuddles on the couch, giving kisses, and looking cute for treats! We think she would even do wonderfully with children, though we suggest age 10+, not because she isn't a good girl but because her sheer size could pose an issue for smaller kids. Sometimes she gets the zoomies when excited and small children may be overlooked when she's zooming around. Kyra has done wonderful with other dogs as well. She is fantastic at her doggie daycare, does well at dog parks, and loves to play. She plays great with other dogs similar in size to her. While very sweet to smaller pups and cats, she can be a bit rough as sometimes she forgets her size! She's never been aggressive towards them, we tell her she just doesn't know the meaning of personal space yet since in her mind, she's still a puppy! Kyra does very well with training, mostly due to the fact that she's so smart. She learns quickly, and at times, can be TOO smart. Like how she knows how to push the door open if it's not latched properly. She knows her basics such as sit, kennel, stay. Her only need for training is working on her impulse control. She is fully crate trained, and is doing fantastic with her leash training. She is housebroken, but being such a big pup still, we suggest using a kennel until fully acclimated. Though she quite enjoys cuddling in the bed or couch. Kyra is fully vetted, meaning she is current on all vaccinations and preventions. She is spayed as well as microchipped too. Story
A note from our new friend's foster! “Age is approximately 1 1/2 - 2 years old and he’s about 45 lbs. He was found by a lady at the dog park in March of last year. Animal control officer was off so an HPD officer took him to dispatch. He was so incredibly well behaved and cared for that they really thought he belonged to someone. My daughter was working at dispatch and knew I’d take him in to try to find his owner. I took him to get scanned for a chip, which he did not have, and I put him on the “Found” list with them. I posted him on Facebook a couple of different times and never found an owner. We call him Rocky and he has learned to respond to it. Rocky walks very well on a leash, he is kennel trained and will whine to let you know if he needs to go outside. He is pretty well house trained. Rocky is also good at lying down with verbal and visual command, and he shakes hands. He was taught this by whoever his owner was. Rocky has a whole lot of energy and is very toy driven and loves playing fetch with a tug rope, and loves playing tug of war. He hasn’t been aggressive towards my other dogs, but he is so strong and intense with play that it could be mistaken as an aggressive type behavior, and therefore he would be best suited as an only dog with an active adult family, or with someone who has another larger sized dog that could help him run all of that energy out. He has been around my cats and small dogs in the house and wants to try to play with them, but I would not suggest he be in a home with small animals or little kids since he just plays way too hard. He loves attention though, and really looks forward to some lovin’ and belly scratches when he’s not all about playing.” Rocky will be ready for adoption after his neuter, microchipping & vaccinations scheduled for 12/27/2023!

Story
Note from his foster: “This guy is a blue/tan smaller pittie, about 35 lbs. He is so stinking cute and has a ton of energy! Dispatch got an animal welfare call in June on this guy. Said that there was a starving dog running around over by some homes near the high school. HPD also picked this guy up. He was very thin, dehydrated, and lethargic, but a super sweet cuddler. He also did not have a microchip. I have struggle with this guy a bit. He is highly food driven and is constantly on the search for food, even now, 6 months later, and after having been fattened up and on a consistent feeding schedule. I tried for months to kennel train this baby, but he never got the hang of it. He would urinate outside, but we could walk for 45 minutes and he would not poop until I put him back in the kennel, and then it would be almost immediately. I tried and tried and tried with no success, so I made the hard decision to set up an outdoor run for him to be in. He is very good around all my other dogs big and small and is absolutely fine with my cats! He is probably about 1 1/2 years old also. I’ve worked with him walking on a leash. He does well, but still pulls a bit. I think he could easily be trained, especially if rewarded with training treats. He is all about snacks and food. This boy so deserves someone with patience and love to give! He’s a sweetie for sure and has the makings of a really great pet!” This special boy needs a special home after we get him neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested and microchipped on 12/27/2023!

Story
Lydia is a spunky young puppy who loves to play, she is doing well with her crate and potty training and will need a family that can dedicate the time to continuing her training each day. She is highly food motivated and eager to please she also accepts play as a reward for desirable behaviors. Lydia is too young to be spayed and still requires booster vaccines, she has received one round of shots and has been dewormed, her adopter must sign a contract promising to continue her vaccines and have her spayed at an appropriate age and send us the comfirming documentation, if she is adopted locally we will happily help transport to these appointments at no charge. ##1865429##

Story
Apple is a high energy medium sized girl who loves to play just as much as she loves a cuddle! She does well with other dogs that can match her energy but she doesn't do so good with chickens. Apple would do best in a home that will give her a consistent outlet for her energy. ##1860015##
