Story
Baby Moo was bought from a show-dog breeder. She was raised from a puppy and faced abuse in her early years. She has been living with us for about 1.5 years and has become a wonderful sweet girl. She's insanely smart and independent, loves all treats and has a tendency to be insanely devious in cute ways. She has some issues with her surroundings and sensory issues, so she prefers to be in chill areas away from frequent visitors/loud noises.

NoelBreed: American Pit Bull Terrier, Boxer mixHouse trained: PartiallyGood with other dogs: NoGood with cats: NoGood with kids: NoPreferred home environment: Securely fenced-in yard (six feet high or taller) required Intake date/origin: December 2017, found strayVetting: Already spayed, microchipped, and UTD on vaccines including rabiesAdoption fee: $150Meet Noel. This girl has been with us ever since December 2017, when one of our staff members found her hiding under a dumpster. Noel is a medium-sized, active girl looking for just the right person. We're going to be honest up front - Noel has her issues. Before we go on to discuss those in detail, we want to share some positives about Noel. Noel has blossomed into a sweet, loving, playful, and happy girl. She has the knack of making her caregivers smile at her silly antics. She loves to spend time outside, whether that's running around, watching the world around her, or simply being by one of her caregiver's sides. Now to Noel's special needs. Since Noel has been in the shelter system since December 2017, she has developed some behavioral issues. She will need the right person to work with her to overcome these issues, and she may never be a "perfect" dog, but we are holding onto hope that there is someone out there who will help her become the best dog that she can be. Even if you are not the person who is able to provide for Noel's needs, please share her information far and wide in hopes that somebody else will step up and give her a chance.Noel's problem areas are the following: 1) Noel cannot live with other animals - at least, not for the time being. She has shown aggression toward other female dogs. She has had a male dog playmate in the past, but she does need to be the only pet unless otherwise determined. 2) Noel likes to jump high and climb. She will need a securely fenced-in yard, and the fence must be a minimum of six feet tall to prevent her from scaling it. 3) Noel is people selective. We don't know if her behavior has changed since living in the stressful shelter environment or if she was never properly socialized as a puppy. However, anyone interested in fostering or adopting Noel must meet her several times. Any home where Noel might be placed must have no visitors. The longer Noel remains in the shelter environment, the harder we know it will be for her to find a home. She will require much patience, time, and training to help her overcome her issues, or at least make them manageable. Perhaps, even with something as simple as a shift from living in a shelter environment to living in a home, some of her behaviors might improve. Will you help us help Noel? If you are interested in fostering or adopting her, please fill out the correct application on the corresponding page on our website. Story
Hi there, I'm Neo! I may be 8.5 years old, but you'd never guess it! My caretakers have seen me full zoomies, and I love to run and spin and spin and spin and run! I am a goofy boy that loves treats more than life itself. I am mellow most of the time, I swear, but I do get those pitty zoomies where I tuck in my butt! I can be a little shy at first when it comes to meeting new people, but I am a very friendly boy once I get to know you. I like other dogs and kiddos but no cats for me! If you have a rodent problem, just hire me because I have a history of taking care of them for you.*ADOPTION SPONSORED*

Story
Hi there, I'm Spy! I am a happy go lucky guy. I was the longest resident at my previous shelter and no one is sure why. I am a goofy boy that loves to play with toys, especially interactive ones like kongs, snuffle mats and puzzle feeders! I first came to my previous shelter as an unsocialized ten month old puppy, but the staff have worked hard with me to get me where I am today! I am dog selective and would do best with older teens/adults. Cats and I don't get along since I am overly curious and want to chase! Other than that, I am one darn good feller.

Hey there, Scooby! I'm your canine rockstar ready to steal the show! I'm an all-around awesome and happy boy. I'm guaranteed to bring some joy into your life! Taking care of me is a breeze, I'm easygoing and always down for a good time. I can be selective of my canine friends. While I've had some great interactions with certain dogs, I prefer to keep my distance from others. We are unsure how I do around cats. With my big ol' head and adorable face, I'm an too cute! Plus, I've mastered the art of sitting for treats! I'm quite the obedient pup! If you are interested in meeting me, come say hi! Let's make some pawsome memories!SPONSORED ADOPTION!

Story
Please read entire description. Maizie's adoption fee is waived to an approved applicant. If interested, please apply at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting.    Maizie was a puppy with us in 2018 and has found her way back due to some medical issues in her former family. She is 6 years old and weighs in at about 60 pounds. She is great with people, house trained, crate trained, and trustworthy to be left out with no issues. She adores human companionship and is good with children. She is gentle, knows some basic commands, and just wants a lot of love!   Maizie has not had any experience with cats. She has lived with other dogs in the past and in her previous foster. She does best with non-reactive, tolerant, co-existing dogs. Unfortunately, Maizie seems to be a dog that often gets picked on by other dogs; this is the reason for a recent move into a new foster home. Currently, she is having to spend a lot of time alone and its not ideal! She is going to work with her new foster mom and does great in the office. She does bark for a moment at new people and then settles. Maizie is a terrific girl and in need of a new home or a foster asap! Maizie is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is waived to an approved applicant. If interested in fostering or adopting, please complete an application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. One application works for all of our dogs. ##1952037##

Story
Hi everyone, my name is Sota . I got to go to a foster home for a weekend a they want me to share their note! I went in looking for more of your "typical family dog" and ended up with this sweet little girl ! I know most people don't go to the shelter to adopt a pit bull and she wasn't my first choice either but they all deserve a chance to have a family to help out . I do not know much of Sota's story because it was a very busy night trying to get as many animals out of the building as possible and was it very hectic at the time . Sota is definitely a female pit mix and is a real sweetheart ! I can't remember if her tag said she was spayed or not yet . She seems fairly young . She has lots of energy and loves to play. She follows me around every step I make she's right there . I am not certain how she is with children as I do not have any small children in my home . I feel as though she would be best being in a home without any other dogs or at least not one with 3 other females like I have . I also don't see any signs of food aggression. I hand fed her and held a bowl for her while she was eating and even pulled the bowl away to slow her down . She did just fine . She also seems to be treat motivated . Soda loved her car ride to my house and did very well in the car, she had a bath after we got home and did very well with that too . She walks great with a harness and leash but pulls with the leash attached to the collar . She listens pretty well for a dog who has been in a shelter . She definitely loves being around people . We have had to keep her separate from our other dogs but have been giving her time alone with us in the house so that she has been able to be "part of the family". She takes her treats very gently too . She has a bit of separation anxiety but only whines to be near us . For the most part she is potty trained and she has only had 1 accident which was in her crate while we were gone to work . She could benefit from a slow feed bowl as well . She has really enjoyed her stay with us and I'm sure she will be devastated when we have to take her back to the shelter . Unfortunately we can not keep her since we are full. The mess she made on the floor was a toy that was already torn up by one of ours and she just helped remove some more stuffing and had the best time doing it too! Please take a look at her and or many of the other cats and dogs at the shelter and consider adopting so these precious babies don't have to live in a kennel for the rest of their lives . I'm sure any animal would be grateful to have a loving family and place to call home .

*Diego's adoption fee has been WAIVED if you are approved to adopt!*DiegoBreed: Boxer, Shepherd mix Housetrained: Completely housetrainedCompatibility with other animals: Best as the only petCompatibility with children: Best in a home with no children or children visitors Knows: Sit, shake, stay, touch, go-to-placePreferred home environment: Fenced-in yard requiredIntake date/origin: August 2015, transfer from an overcrowded shelterVetting: Already neutered, microchipped, and UTD on vaccines including rabiesAdoption fee: SPONSORED BY A GENEROUS SUPPORTERLocation: Shelter facilityMeet handsome, independent Diego. This guy is an amazing dog for the right person. What do we mean by amazing? Well, Diego can pretty much take care of himself - he is content just to play by himself and find the comfiest couch to lounge upon. Born in 2014, Diego hasn't come across the right person yet, but we're hopeful that there's someone out there for him.The right home for Diego consists of one person who wants a dog just to have the company of a four-legged friend. Ideally, this person would let Diego peacefully exist in the home and provide him with a few toys and access to a fenced-in backyard. While Diego does enjoy a back scratch here and there and an occasional "good boy," he really prefers to be left by himself most of the time. He also does not appreciate being restrained, making it very difficult to put a collar or leash onto him, so this is why he must have a fenced-in yard.Diego has befriended many other dogs here at the shelter. However, he can be possessive of his food, toys, and anything he claims as his (such as the couch), so he must be the only pet in a home with no children. On the plus side, Diego is completely housetrained, he knows an array of cues, and he is a highly-trainable dog.Diego has been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. If you are interested in adopting Diego, please fill out an adoption application for him at www.lovingheartanimalshelter.org/adopt.Will you be the person to love Diego and give him a chance at a home?

Hey, I'm Grizzly! I look like a mini bear myself! With my pointy ears and adorable pout, I've mastered the art of getting treats with just one look. I'll admit, I can be a bit chatty around other dogs. I just can't help but express myself! I'm open for a meet and greet if you share a home with another dog. We are unsure how I do with cats. I'm really just a sweet boy with wants to be loved. If you tell me I'm a good boy, well, that just makes my day! Come by and get to know me today! *ADOPTION SPONSORED*

Story
Foster or Adopter wanted! This sweetie is STILL available. We don't know how?! This boy has a sparkly personality and loves cats and kids and has a long list of his favorite things.....Please apply at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting.    Dexter is the most amazing, 4-5 year old, chonky Boxer mix with a nubby tail. He's friendly, happy and can no longer stay in his home due to quarrels with another dog. They tried professional training to no avail. We are seeking a household where Dexter will be the only dog living there, although he can be friendly with other dogs. He seems to prefer to have his family all to himself on an ongoing basis.   Dexter is house trained and crate trained. He doesn't love being in a crate, but does tolerate it. If left out for long periods, he will have occasional accidents, but is not destructive. Dexter would preferably have a physically fenced yard. He does walk nicely on leash.   Dexter's list of loves: Cuddling and being right next to his people (especially on their bed in night). Favorite toy; the Otter. Raccoon is a close second. He loves to watch Scooby Doo when left alone. Greenies specifically the blueberry flavored ones. Dexter lives for belly rubs and likes to show his people things around the house by gently taking their hand and leading them. Warm jackets and harnesses during a walk (but they must come off once back in the house.)   Dexter is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He will also come with many of his things including his toys, bed, bowls, leash, collar, and harness. If interested in Dexter, his adoption fee is $100. If interested, please complete an application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. One application works for all of our dogs.   ##1943259##
