This handsome young guy is on the prowl for a new home.  Diesel is a smart and loving dog, he loves to be around people so an owner with a flexible schedule will be a great fit for him! He does need an experienced dog owner and a strong handler with a leash as he's a very strong boy. Diesel is not a fit with cats, he will be best suited as an only dog with a dog savvy dog owner. Diesel will be a star pupil in the FREE obedience class included in his adoption fee! Diesel is friendly with all people, although he ultimately wants a home with older kids (12+) who will play with him and help to burn off some of his energy! Diesel will be best suited to a home with a secure and physically fenced in yard as he can get very amped up at other dogs or animals passing by him. Diesel's adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip and current vaccinations PLUS a free obedience course at Cedar Run Pet Boarding & Daycare.  Last Hope requires that all animals be kept as indoor pets only, be altered and current on vaccinations and preventatives.  Our adoption process includes reference and background checks, a home visit and a vet check.  Please submit an adoption application through our website for consideration, www.Adopthope.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 3, 2024, 11:13 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Porter is such a wonderfully easy going dog, we just cannot believe that someone hasn't scooped him up yet! He is not a fan of being left alone for long stretches and he also kind of hates the kennel - but we certainly understand why when you know his past...Porter joined Last Hope after his owner abandoned him, leaving him behind when they moved away.  This wonderfully loving boy deserves the very best in a forever home, and we're excited to introduce you to him! But beware...he's a bit of a couch hog!! Porter loves to put a harness on and go for walks, he can be strong on the leash especially when he sees squirrels!  He is best suited as an only pet in the home, but is great with people of all ages including children. Porter is around 8 years old now, he would do best with a fence or with someone who already has a daily walking routine. Porter rides in the car like a champ, and he will make a wonderful companion for someone seeking a friendly dog that is moderately active. Porter does have minor head tremors, these occur infrequently and seem to be brought on by change or stress. They do not hurt him or cause him pain, but are something to be aware of (he has been under the care of our veterinarian and had this reviewed extensively)   Porter's adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives PLUS a free obedience course at Cedar Run Pet Boarding & Daycare in Hiawatha.  Last Hope requires that all animals be kept as indoor pets only, be altered and current on vaccinations and preventatives.  Our adoption process includes reference and background checks, a vet check and a home visit.  Please submit an adoption application on our website for consideration, www.Adopthope.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 3, 2024, 11:13 am

Dale the big man! We cannot get enough of him, despite being initially shy; he is entirely a sweetheart. The second he warms up to you; he is one with your hip, and never wants to leave your side! Cuddling is his specialty, along with the urge for some playtime. The largest of them all, he weighs somewhere around 60 pounds, and is still emaciated. Luckily for training, he is highly motivated by treats, and even his kibble! Dale gets along great with all the other dogs he's met, and all the people! Dale is a one of a kind boy, with a bit of an awkward side but no shame there! He enjoys following us around the dog yard, and awkwardly staring at us, waiting for our next move! But the times he does decide it's playtime, he's ready to rock n roll! He doesn't pay attention to cats, he doesn't jump on people and his kennel is almost always clean which tells me he is well on his way to being housebroken.

Story
Introducing Wix - a one-of-a-kind, pouty-faced, sweet-natured boy who's as cuddly as a baby seal LOOKS and as endearing as a dog could ever possibly be! With his big, brown, compassionate eyes and bubbly yet calm demeanor, Wix is an amazing companion, always preferring to be close to the ones he loves - whether they have two legs or four! Wix is a master at wiggling his way onto laps to rest his head, or finding hands to scratch right under his chin-his favorite spot EVER! Treats, toys, and a little baby talk are all it takes to win him over and make him your instant best friend, if even that! Wix approaches everyone like they're his best friend that he just hasn't ever seen before, with lots of butt wiggles, and perk in his floppy ears! Wix is also a social butterfly with other dogs. We like to say he's the fun uncle of the doggy playgroups, as he will play with ANYONE willing, but also rest in the sun near anyone. His droopy ears, wagging tail, and comical stature only add to his adorable charm - though he could certainly benefit from a few extra pounds, as he's touching barely 40 right this second. Luckily for us, eating his this guy's main priority, he isn't picky when it comes to treats, bones, or the kibble he eats! On top of his beyond lovable personality, Wix has the basics down at about 5 years old. He's crate-trained, knows his commands, and is fully house-trained! Wix is the type of dog that you can toss a bone to before you head off to work and you'll see just how content and happy this boy can be. And let's not forget his signature froggy hops in the yard - a sight guaranteed to bring a smile to your face as he leaps and zooms with pure joy.

Story
Hi, I'm Zoey! Not to toot my own horn but I am literally the sweetest 6 year old Boxer/Terrier mix you will ever meet. A few months ago, I got lost with my sister and someone found us running by a highway. They picked us up and took us to a local shelter where no one came to claim us. I was a staff favorite at the shelter but that setting was not good for me. That's why some really nice people came and took me to a foster home instead. I really love living in a home with people who show me love and kindness. My foster family says I'm special because of my resilience. You see, I am a shy girl that does the best with other dogs. They bring out my true self. Watching me open up and blossom in such a short time has filled their hearts with love. I've gone from a shy girl to a playful and affectionate companion, and I'm ready to bring joy to my forever family.. One of the cutest things about me is how I tilt my head when I'm curious-it always makes my foster family smile. And guess what? I love having my nails painted! It's like a little spa day just for me. Speaking of activities, I have a few favorites. I absolutely love playing ball-throw it, and I'll chase it for hours. Going on walks is another favorite; there's so much to see and sniff! When I'm not playing or walking, you can find me sunbathing, soaking up the warmth and relaxing. To help me continue to thrive, I need a home with another confident dog who can show me the ropes. Having a furry friend around helps me feel more confident and comfortable. Patience is key, too. I need a bit of time to fully open up and show you all the love I have to give. I get along well with other dogs, though I'm not sure about cats yet. When meeting new people, I can be a bit shy, but if you give me the space to get comfortable and do my own thing, I'll warm up in no time. I've never shown any aggression-just a little patience and kindness is all I need. With people I know, I'm a total "wiggle butt"! I get so excited and happy to see my favorite humans. I love kisses, belly rubs, and lots of attention. My foster family calls me their little speckled cow because of the black dots on my belly and the trail of water I leave after drinking water-it's my special quirk! The ideal home for me is one with an active family who has at least one other confident dog and loves to throw the ball for me. I also enjoy my spa days, especially when I'm pampered with a bath, some coconut oil on my belly and ears, and a manicure. If you're looking for a smart, loving, and playful companion, I'm your girl. I promise to shower you with love and bring endless joy to your life. I can't wait to find a forever family that will spoil me and shower me with the love I deserve. Zoey is up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested, microchipped and spayed. She would do best in a home with a physically fenced yard so he can run and play safely. Applications to meet Zoey can be submitted at: https://www.aplanimalrescue.org/dogs
