Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hubba, hubba...check out Diesel! This handsome young guy is on the prowl for a new home.  Diesel is a smart and loving dog, he loves to be around people so an owner with a flexible schedule will be a great fit for him! He does need an experienced dog owner and a strong handler with a leash as he's a very strong boy. Diesel is not a fit with cats, he will be best suited as an only dog with a dog savvy dog owner. Diesel will be a star pupil in the FREE obedience class included in his adoption fee! Diesel is friendly with all people, although he ultimately wants a home with older kids (12+) who will play with him and help to burn off some of his energy! Diesel will be best suited to a home with a secure and physically fenced in yard as he can get very amped up at other dogs or animals passing by him. Diesel's adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip and current vaccinations PLUS a free obedience course at Cedar Run Pet Boarding & Daycare.  Last Hope requires that all animals be kept as indoor pets only, be altered and current on vaccinations and preventatives.  Our adoption process includes reference and background checks, a home visit and a vet check.  Please submit an adoption application through our website for consideration, www.Adopthope.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 4, 2024, 6:20 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.King James, or KJ as we call him, has lived an awful lot of life for being just a 7 year old dog! He has experienced cruelty at the hands of humans when he was originally brought into rescue around 2020.  He had suffered a gun shot wound to the face that required surgery to remove bullet fragments, he made a full recovery and went on to find a home. Unfortunately, KJ was returned when his family dynamic changed and he again found himself alone. KJ is a terrific medium energy dog, he will greet you with a toothy grin showing off his megawatt smile!  KJ will enjoy being a man of routine in a quieter home, he is friendly with people but can be a little slow to warm up to strangers which is understandable given his history. However, once he befriends you, he will happily be your goofy, loving companion, enjoying all the car rides and walks.  KJ is not a fit with cats. He has done especially well with other medium sized female dogs and should be fine with easy going males around his size.  He has not been introduced to small dogs or children yet. Given that he is a little wary of new people, we feel that older children will be the best match for him. King James' adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives PLUS a free obedience course at Cedar Run Company in Hiawatha.  Last Hope requires that all animals be kept as indoor pets only, be altered and current on vaccinations and preventatives.  Our adoption process includes reference and background checks, a vet check and a home visit.  If you have animals in the home already, we will also conduct meet and greets to ensure it is a match.  Please submit an adoption application for consideration at Adopthope.org. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 19, 2025, 6:16 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Porter is such a wonderfully easy going dog, we just cannot believe that someone hasn't scooped him up yet! He is not a fan of being left alone for long stretches and he also kind of hates the kennel - but we certainly understand why when you know his past...Porter joined Last Hope after his owner abandoned him, leaving him behind when they moved away.  This wonderfully loving boy deserves the very best in a forever home, and we're excited to introduce you to him! But beware...he's a bit of a couch hog!! Porter loves to put a harness on and go for walks, he can be strong on the leash especially when he sees squirrels!  He is best suited as an only pet in the home, but is great with people of all ages including children. Porter is around 8 years old now, he would do best with a fence or with someone who already has a daily walking routine. Porter rides in the car like a champ, and he will make a wonderful companion for someone seeking a friendly dog that is moderately active. Porter does have minor head tremors, these occur infrequently and seem to be brought on by change or stress. They do not hurt him or cause him pain, but are something to be aware of (he has been under the care of our veterinarian and had this reviewed extensively)   Porter's adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives PLUS a free obedience course at Cedar Run Pet Boarding & Daycare in Hiawatha.  Last Hope requires that all animals be kept as indoor pets only, be altered and current on vaccinations and preventatives.  Our adoption process includes reference and background checks, a vet check and a home visit.  Please submit an adoption application on our website for consideration, www.Adopthope.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 4, 2024, 6:20 pm

Story
This 4-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix is the definition of a lovable goofball. With her quintessential Staffy face and those deep, soulful eyes, Stella has a way of melting hearts instantly — and her personality is just as beautiful. Stella is full of energy and absolutely loves her zoomies! She enjoys playtime with toys (tug is her favorite!) and can keep herself entertained, but nothing makes her happier than spending time with her people. She’s affectionate, eager to please, and has no concept of personal space — she’ll happily climb right into your lap for cuddles and attention. When it comes to other dogs, Stella can get a little overexcited at first, so slow and controlled introductions are important. She’s great with kids, but would do best in a home without cats. This smart girl is potty-trained and already knows her basic commands. She is crate-trained, but the chaotic shelter environment tends to stress her out, causing her to push her snout against her crate (hence the redness seen around her nose and lips). However, we're working with her to help her be more comfortable here, and she's getting better every day. Stella is searching for a family who can give her the exercise, structure, and love she needs to thrive — and in return, she’ll shower you with all the loyalty and affection you could ever want. If you’re looking for a devoted companion with a big heart (and an even bigger personality), Stella might just be your perfect match!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Atlas is ready to be the king of your world! This handsome bridle boy is happiest when he's running and playing fetch.  Atlas is well trained and knows how to sit, shake, stay, lay down, wait, come, leave it and get up. Atlas is also muzzle trained, he prefers to wear this when meeting strangers or doing scary things like visiting the vet's office.  Atlas would thrive in an active home with adults only who are dog savvy and maintain a relatively quiet home life. We don't know all of his background, but we know that strangers in the home are scary to Atlas and he isn't sure if he's supposed to protect you from them or not!  Atlas loves to play, so another playful dog in the home would make for a perfect match! Atlas is kennel and potty trained, and also loves to give kisses. A 4-6 foot high fenced in yard would be a dream come true for ol' Atlas, here he could run and play to his hearts content and maybe learn some more impressive commands with a little help from his new family. If you are interested in learning more about Atlas please complete an adoption application for consideration at www.AdoptHope.org.  The adoption fee for Atlas is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives as well as a FREE obedience class through Cedar Run in Hiawatha.  Our adoption process includes reference and background checks, a vet check and home visit.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 4, 2024, 6:20 pm
