Story
Hello! My name is Bambi. I am THE sweetest 1-year old Staffordshire Terrier/Boxer mix weighing in at around 50 lbs. I was found roaming the streets with nowhere to go and was taken to an overcrowded shelter where my chance at a better life was limited. Then, I joined the APL family! At the shelter I was nominated the "helper dog in playgroups. I get along with everyone, humans and dogs, and with my sweet disposition, I was very much a staff and volunteer favorite. I just love, love. To give love, to receive love, I love it all, from anyone. I thrive off being a part of a family. I am always smiling and my foster parents say I have the softest fur. One of my favorite things is my Care Bear. I love to carry my bear around the house. When I am excited, which is about 95 percent of the time, I tend to bounce and hop around like a deer, which is how I got my name. I am the queen of wiggles and have earned the nickname "wiggle butt. My tail is always wagging so you have to watch where it's swinging because it kind of has a mind of its own (so I've been told). My day starts out at 5 am, then I eat breakfast. I hang out in my kennel while my foster parents are at work and once they're home, it's game on. I love to play with my furry foster siblings and really enjoy sticks and pig ears. I would thrive with an active family who will take me on adventures and provide me some basic training. I am still working on not pulling on my leash but I am very trainable and eager to learn because I love to please my people! I'm also a bit of a water buffalo so when out and about, a good potty routine is important for me. I keep my kennel dry and sleep like a princess at night too. I am going to make the most loyal and devoted companion for the right family. Bambi is up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested, microchipped and spayed. She would do best in a home with a fenced in yard so she can run and play safely. Adopters must be within a two-hour radius of Cedar Rapids, IA. Indoor homes only. Applications can be submitted at: https://www.aplanimalrescue.org/dogs

Story
This sweet girl is ready and looking to fall in LOVE with a forever home! Currently residing in our Operations Director's office, she is a well behaved girly. She enjoys playing with toys - especially those of the squeak variety! She will play about in the yard, but is also content on nap time throughout the day. Lucia keeps her area nice and clean and listens nicely. While we have attempted visits with other dogs, Lucia let us know that she can be possessive of her toys/belongings, so we are looking for a home without other animals for her to ensure a stress-free environment.Stop on out and meet Lucia and ALLLLLL of our other cute tenants, we have plenty of new best furry friends waiting for their forever homes

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Atlas is ready to be the king of your world! This handsome bridle boy is happiest when he's running and playing fetch.  Atlas is well trained and knows how to sit, shake, stay, lay down, wait, come, leave it and get up. Atlas is also muzzle trained, he prefers to wear this when meeting strangers or doing scary things like visiting the vet's office.  Atlas would thrive in an active home with adults only who are dog savvy and maintain a relatively quiet home life. We don't know all of his background, but we know that strangers in the home are scary to Atlas and he isn't sure if he's supposed to protect you from them or not!  Atlas loves to play, so another playful dog in the home would make for a perfect match! Atlas is kennel and potty trained, and also loves to give kisses. A 4-6 foot high fenced in yard would be a dream come true for ol' Atlas, here he could run and play to his hearts content and maybe learn some more impressive commands with a little help from his new family. If you are interested in learning more about Atlas please complete an adoption application for consideration at www.AdoptHope.org.  The adoption fee for Atlas is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives as well as a FREE obedience class through Cedar Run in Hiawatha.  Our adoption process includes reference and background checks, a vet check and home visit.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 18, 2024, 7:29 pm

Story
Mister Hero. The biggest baby of them all! At about 6 months old, and 30 or so pounds, he is as gentle as can be! Despite having that excited puppy energy to him, his demeanor is always amazing natured. This little man will do splendidly in just about any home, if you're wanting a buddy to snuggle, cuddle, play, and love- he is destined to be the perfect match! Hero's favorite thing to do currently is bring us one of his favorite stuffies, and as soon as we go to take it to toss is- he runs away to try and get us to chase him. He just LOVES spending his time with people, and if he's not, doggy playgroups keep him occupied, and very wore out just to come in and nap on a lap. Or any lap that he can fit at least one part of his body on, either way, he is one content dude. Hero is also a notorious crawler, he crawls any chance he gets- whether it's to get a treat, a toy, or play with another dog, he's got NO shame in his laziness of doing so, and wiggle worms his way on over! My adoption fee is only $310! This fee covers all of my vaccines, microchip, nex/heartguard, heartworm test, AND my spay/neuter! Think I might be the perfect fit for your home? You can apply for me here https://animalwelfarefriends.org/adopt/application/ OR you can apply in person when you come visit me any day during business hours! You can even adopt me that same day once approved!!
