Story
Whitey is a 5 year old, 55 pound, bulldog/pit mix. I'm just going to share what Officer Carpentier said "When this dog came in he was very vocal. Everyone said "oh I don’t know about him". I sat with him that next day and within 10 minutes, he was licking me all over. Then I introduced him to the rest of the staff. Whitey and I are best friends here at the shelter now. I will probably cry when he leaves but I just want people to give him a chance and get to know him like we did. Even though he sounds like a t-rex, I promise he’s a teddy!! But no cats for whitey 🫣😅! We tried that and he looks at them like a roasted chicken." I can't add anything to this great write-up. In case anyone wants to know, this gorgeous, smiling good boi is the same scared dog that was trapped in Bitely. The adoption fee for dogs is $90. This fee includes spay/neuter, deworming, heartworm test, rabies & DHLPP shots, flea & tick treatment and license (for Newaygo County residents). Newaygo County Animal Shelter 78 N. Story
Meet Artemis! Our sweet, shy girl with adorable satellite ears! Artemis is petite girl that will fit right into her new home! She sits and shakes and loves a yummy reward for her good behavior! Artemis is a fan of all toys and enjoys playing fetch in the yard. She came to us from an uncaring home and it took many weeks to show her that humans could be trusted. Artemis has really opened up and is ready to accept and give love! Come meet this adorable girl today! Madison is a kennel attendant and has spent a lot of time with our Artie girl. Here's what she has to say about her:"She is such a sweet and gentle girl and has easily become one of my favorites since I started working at HATS. Despite her rough start, she has come a long way in learning that it is ok to trust people and even loves attention. My favorite thing she does is when she prances around in the yard with her toy in her mouth (specifically any toy that resembles a ball). She loves to play fetch and get back scratches as well. I know that if someone gives her a chance, they will not be able to resist her sweet face and loving nature. (And not to mention the ears, come on!) She desperately deserves a loving home and family." Artemis can't wait to get out of the shelter and into a loving home! To help make that happen, her adoption fee has been waived!Artemis lived with another dog in her previous home. She would do best with no kitties.

Story
Meet Steve. At just shy of 100 pounds and about 2 years old, he's ready to find  a permanent place of his own. This guy is a happy, playful dude who loves to parade his toys around! He does well with a rough and tumble female playmate. But his favorite thing ever ...  literally just being next to people. He will sit right in front of you to take every opportunity for all the pets possible. If a 100 pound dog could be a lap dog, that's Steve. He didn't have the best start in life so, unfortunately, he's heartworm positive. (*Steps on soap box* Please keep your dogs on heartworm preventatives!) What does that mean for you? It means you foster him while he undergoes treatment for this at no cost to you ... And then when he gets the all clear in a couple of months, he's yours to adopt!  You can apply to adopt or foster this most handsome man at www.rescueofhope.com/adopt/ ##2007330##
