Attention: This is a courtesy posting only! This pet is NOT available through Mountain Pet Rescue.  Please do NOT contact MPR for information about the pet or apply to adopt this pet on the MPR website.  Contact or neeza048@gmail.com for more information or to adopt the pet.Indiana (aka Indy) is a sweet, well-cared-for AmStaff rescue. He is a little over 8 years old. While Indy is well-loved by his current owners, their family has grown substantially and they can no longer can provide Indy with the type of home he needs.Indy is a happy, friendly and loveable dog. He hasn’t met a person yet who has not instantly fallen in love with him. He loves to play fetch and absolutely LOVES to swim when he gets the chance (to the point where you need to make him take breaks because he would likely swim until he passes out). He spends most of his days lounging around the house, staying close by to whoever is home. Indy is well-trained, obedient and house-trained, but has some interesting quirks. For example, he sometimes gets scared of his own food bowls, or to enter certain rooms, and seems to needs reassurance from his owners that he is okay. But all it takes is a bit of encouragement, and he gets right over his fears.Being a rescue who was abandoned at birth, Indy has some stronger anxieties as well. He is, therefore, best suited for a home without other pets or small children, and for an owner who has had previous pet dogs (i.e., not someone’s first dog). He has lived with other dogs and children before without incident, but he has also shown signs of aggression toward them, especially other dogs. He has only once significantly growled at a child, but being such a strong dog, it would be safest not to place him in a home with young children.Indy’s aggression toward other dogs seems to be limited to when he is at home in his own domain. He has exhibited some fence aggression and has tried to go after other dogs walking past our front yard, but has no issues when dogs walk by when he is in a back yard with space to run around and play. Outside of his home, he can be easily managed and redirected when on a leash. He will even sometimes ignore other dogs while on a leash. On the other hand, he tends to not play well with other dogs at public dog parks.Indy also becomes very anxious in public spaces, like restaurants, breweries, and the dreaded vet!  We have started him on daily fluoxetine to help with anxiety, but because this medication takes time to work, he has not yet displayed any noticeable differences at this time. When he does becomes anxious, the only way to console him is to remove him from the stressor. He enters a flight or fight mode with an overwhelming instinct for flight (he is never aggressive in these situations, just terribly anxious). Therefore, he is not the type of dog who likes to go out to public places. He is a home body, where he is comfortable, obedient, easily managed and easy to take care of and love.Healthwise, Indy is healthy, neutered, microchipped and up to date on shots. He has also been given Trifexis 1x a month for flea and heartworm prevention since he was a young puppy, and Cosequin supplements for his joint health for the last several years.Contact me today at neeza048@gmail.com or 516-428-6134 to learn more about or meet lovable Indy! All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at pets@mpravl.org for more information. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. Mountain Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax deductible charity (EIN 82-3039637) located in Asheville, NC. December 4, 2023, 2:58 pm

Story
Meet Faith! Faith is a very sweet girl who needs a loving home with no female dogs. Faith weighs in at right around 60lbs. Faith is loyal and very smart: coming to us already trained with Sit, High Five, and Place (her bed), Drop it (for playing ball). Faith loves belly rubs and will do anything for some attention, very fond of people once she gets used to your scent. Faith is a gorgeous brindle/white coloring. Faith is anxious with dominant female dogs, so caution around them and further training is recommended. Faith loves children and loves to play with male dogs, especially very calm or submissive boys. She loves to go for long walks or play with her absolute favorite toy: A BALL. Faith is a large breed and will require landlord approval for her breed (if applicable). Estimated birthdate: August 2020 If you are interested in Faith please call 828-885-3647 to schedule an appointment. Notes: Adoption Fee: 200.00 *We are by APPOINTMENT only* Adoption Process: -Vet Reference -Landlord Approval -Home Visit *Must be 21+ to adopt*
