Story
When this dude came into the Harrison County Dog Pound in Cadiz, OH earlier this summer, we named him Diablo, because he had that certain something-something about him that reminded us of a devilish kid. Then we found out that his own owner brought him to the pound claiming to have found him and that his name was SCRAPPY, so we changed it. But the fact remains that SCRAPPY is a bit devilish. Kind of like if he was a kid, he might win the Class Clown award. He’s loaded with personality! SCRAPPY is housebroken. He’s good with kids, but doesn’t like cats. He’s good with most dogs. Not only did he live with a few, he’s fathered at least 3 litters of pups that we know of, the last being born at the pound and are now in a foster home with their mom. Unfortunately for SCRAPPY, his one night stand days are over. He’s been neutered, vaccinated and treated for Lyme. SCRAPPY would love to have a family of his own. He’s a happy guy whose tail never stops wagging. He loves to snuggle and be with people. His bark can go from sounding like a chihuahua with laryngitis to a deep rumble you’d expect from a dog twice his size. It just depends on what he’s barking at Harrison County Dog Pound, 82900 Toot Rd. Cadiz, OH 43907 Open: Monday-Friday 10am-4pm; Saturday 9am-2pm; Closed Sundays and holidays. Out of state adoptions welcomed. Applications are available at the pound and online at harrisoncountydogpoundvolunteers, org. Apple users must access our website and submit application using Google, not Safari. $40 adoption fee. 740-942-4080

Story
Pablo is a cute one-year old male American Staffordshire Terrier/Pit Bull Terrier who was brought to the HSOV on February 21, 2025 after he was found on the 400 block of Franklin Street in Marietta Ohio. Pablo was not wearing a collar, and he was not microchipped. This handsome guy has a snow white short smooth coat with a brown patch on his lower back, a long brown/white tail, and an adorable chubby face with beautiful mesmerizing eyes, a liver-colored nose, and large super-sized ears which he holds semi-erect when he chooses to do so. Pablo has a sweet disposition and a friendly, outgoing personality. He loves attention from everyone who has meet him. Pablo weighs 47 lbs. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Pablo was held for three days so that his family would have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. Surprisingly nobody called or came looking for this little man. Pablo was neutered on March 4, 2025 and was also given rabies vaccine. Pablo went home with a foster family on March 8, 2025, and he became available for adoption on June 12, 2025. Updated information about Pablo from his foster family: "Pablo needs to go to a home without a male dog preferably or at least one who isn’t already THE BOSS for sure. Females he’s perfect with, and he is the BEST BOY!! He is a handful yes, but he’s just a puppy still and he does listen and I’ve been working with him. He has some separation anxiety from his previous “situation”. Pablo is house trained and is crate trained .. but definitely sleeps with me every night. THE ONLY reason I’m choosing to adopt him out is because of the fact he and Chevy aren’t ever gonna be homeboys. He’s the biggest sweetheart of all time. Just needs to be THE MAN of the house to speak." Pablo came back to HSOV on July 30, 2025 after an altercation with another male dog in the household, and his foster family made the decision that Pablo would be more suited for a home without any male dogs or have contact with them. It was touching to see Pablo quickly jump up on the couch in the shelter lobby when he returned and to snuggle up with HSOV Executive Director Amy Rogers. Pablo will be adjusting to shelter life and will soon be looking for the perfect home. Pablo went home with a foster family on September 15, 2025.

Story
Steven is a handsome 4-year old male American Staffordshire Terrier mix who was brought to the HSOV on December 6, 2024 by a Good Samaritan who found him on Echo Valley Road in the Waterford Ohio area. Steven was accompanied by his best friend Arlo (a 3-year old male Yellow Labrador Retriever) who is also in our shelter. Neither of these boys were wearing a collar, and they were not microchipped. Steven has a chocolate brown-and-white coat, a long tail, and an adorable chubby face with dark brown eyes, a brown patch around his right eye, a black button nose, and semi-erect ears. Steven has the cutest wrinkles on his chubby face which gives him the sweetest appearance. Steven and Arlo are continuing to enjoy their own 'bachelor's pad' in our Safe Haven Building where they have the freedom of not being in a kennel. Neither Steven nor Arlo accepts cats into their circle of friends and cannot be trusted to be nice to them. Steven is a muscular boy who weighs 68 lbs. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Steven and Arlo were held for three days so that their family would have an opportunity to reclaim them with proof of ownership. Sadly, nobody called or came looking for this magnificent pair of best friends. Update: Steven was neutered on September 24, 2025 and was also given rabies vaccine. Thanks to HSOV Volunteer Jennie Payton Sherrard for spending time with Steven for these updated photos late in the afternoon on September 28, 2025. Steven's personality has blossomed over the past several months, and he was a joy to photograph with Jennie by his side. Steven was fascinated with the paparazzi and was a real 'ham' for the camera. Since Steven and Arlo are very bonded with each other, Jennie and HSOV Volunteer Angel Grosklos teamed up to walk both boys from their 'apartment' in the Safe Haven Building so that they did not have to be separated. Steven and Arlo are both neutered, so they could leave our shelter immediately (together of course) with an approved HSOV foster/adoption application.

Meet Pablo (Neutered) (Photos 2/23/2025) Pablo is a cute one-year old male American Staffordshire Terrier/Pit Bull Terrier who was brought to the HSOV on February 21, 2025 after he was found on the 400 block of Franklin Street in Marietta Ohio. Surprisingly nobody called or came looking for this little man. These updated photos were taken on February 23, 2025 when HSOV Manager Tracy Lynn accompanied him for some out-of-cage/kennel time in the lobby of our shelter. Pablo was 'over the moon' happy since he loves attention and playtime. Pablo was more interested in fun-and-games than posing for boring still-life photos, so most of his pictures were action shots (smile). Pablo was neutered on March 4, 2025 and was also given rabies vaccine. Pablo went home with a foster family on March 8, 2025, and he became available for adoption on June 12, 2025. Story
Nader is a beautiful 4-year old female American Staffordshire Terirer who was brought to the HSOV on September 9, 2024 after she was found on Franklin Street in Marietta Ohio. Nader was wearing a collar but there was neither an id tag nor a dog license tag on her collar .. And she was not microchipped. Nader has a sleek auburn/brown short smooth coat with white marking on her neck/check, a long thin tail, and an adorable chubby Staffordshire face with amber-colored eyes, a red/liver-colored nose, and semi-erect ears. This sweet girl has a friendly disposition and loves attention. Nader enjoyed soft plush stuffed toys during her first day in our shelter even though she plays rough with them and they don't survive very long. These photos of Nader were taken late in the afternoon on September 9, 2024 when HSOV Lead Canine Kennel Tech Jared Nash accompanied Nader for outdoor glamour pictures. Nader ran a few laps around Jared to show off her 'body beautiful' then decided needed some more attention from Jared .. And quickly rewarded him with some nice doggy kisses. Nader is a full-figured girl who currently weighs 76.2 lbs. She walked fairly well on a leash for Jared. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Nader will be held for three days so that her family will have an opportunity to reclaim her with proof of ownership. We hope that her family (or someone will recognize her and help us reunited Nader with her people). She is very sad being in an unfamiliar place and cries for attention when she is left alone. Nader went home with a foster family on July 25, 2025 who plans to adopt her after she is spayed. Nader was returned to HSOV on July 30, 2025 after there was a dispute between Nader and a small puppy in the foster family's home over a toy ball. Nader was 'resource guarding' what she felt was her toy. Update: Nader was taken to a veterinarian hospital on September 24, 2025 for her spay procedure, and it was determined that she was already spayed. Nader was given rabies vaccine that day.

Story
Beefcake is a magnificent 3-year old male American Staffordshire Terrier/Pit Bull Terrier mix who was picked up in Marietta Ohio by a Washington County Ohio Deputy Sheriff and brought to the HSOV on July 3, 2025. Beefcake was not wearing a collar, and he was not microchipped. This handsome guy has a beautiful beige-and-white coat, white paws, a long tail, and an adorable symmetrically-marked chubby face with pale brown eyes, a liver-colored nose, and short floppy ears. Beefcake has the sweetest, most lovable personality! These pictures were taken on the afternoon of July 13th when HSOV Volunteer Jennie Sherrard accompanied Beefcake for his outdoor photo session. Beefcake loved attention from Jennie and turned on the charm. He seemed a little too interested in making the acquaintance of a few of our outdoor shelter mascot kitties that he saw in the distance. Beefcake weighs 70 lbs and is strong on a leash. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Beefcake was held for the mandatory three-day stray hold so that his family would have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. Beefcake's owner was identified but, sadly, he decided not to reclaim him .. So Beefcake is looking for a new home. He will be neutered before he is officially adopted. Beefcake could be fostered or fostered-to-adopt with an approved HSOV Foster/Adoption Application while he is awaiting his neuter procedure.
