Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet TITAN!  Titan is an (approximately) one-year-old Anatolian Shepherd/Pyrenees mix (confirming DNA is pending for those seeking a working dog)!  This poor boy has been moved around 5 times in the past 3 months before reaching our rescue and we just can’t figure out why??  He even ended up on the euthanasia list in TX and our friends at @nationalanatolianshepherdrescuenetwork found him and saved him! He is the smartest, sweetest, goofiest, bestest boy!   He is fully potty trained (will use a bell or use his nose to point at the door knob to the outside), knows some basic commands, is very loyal and wants to be with his foster as much as he can!   He is super friendly with all people he meets, loves other dog friends and when seeing cats (and wild bunnies) doesn’t seem all that interested. He has not been observed with children but he is a big, doof with little body spatial awareness (typical of enormous puppies) so older, sturdier kids are recommended.  He rides well in a car, does well in public spaces, walks pretty well on a leash and behavior when he sees the the vet is pending (check up appointment is Friday 3/29). That being said, he IS an enormous puppy approximately a year old, so the faint of heart need not apply.  His new family will need to have a very rigorous activity plan to keep this boy out of trouble.  Luckily, just like a baby, he does require naps throughout the day.  If you look at him and think you can work it out without being a VERY active family, get ready to invest in replacing shoes, clothing, carpets, dog beds and anything else you deem valuable for the next year, at least.  You will also need to secure mail, recycling, paper items (yes money and checks), packaging and other items as he thinks they are SO much fun to destroy!  He is easily directed with activities, walks, runs, rides, playdates, etc, approved dog toys and dog bones.  He LOVES to be outside patrolling the yard and does zoomies just out of sheer joy to be alive.  He does NOT like pooing/peeing on a leash so he will need a large yard to eliminate as he needs to do it as FAR away from the house as possible. When he perceives a threat, he has a very BIG bark that should deter any predators, mailmen, the meter reader, garbage trucks, rogue clowns and zombies.  He is not a fan of being crated, but not a point to hurting himself, there’s just lots of verbal complaints.  He’s crated while his foster mom is at work (see all the things at risk of being lost above) and sleeps totally well through the night in a “penned” area in the kitchen with an 8 panel divider.  This is only being used because the older 11 yr old resident Pyrenees is not big fan on Titan in his sleeping space.  He likely would love to sleep right on top of you if allowed.  His foster mom is working through a little separation anxiety (vocal only), mouthiness, and jumping which gets better each day.  With the right family, he is going to be the most loyal companion and we definitely feel a responsibility to make sure he’s not displaced again!  Does he sound like your match?  He would definitely benefit from a robust, large, active, playful resident dog.  Titan is being fostered in Tacoma, WA and is available for adoption in the PNW states! All our dogs require secure VISIBLE fencing. All current pets in adoptive home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccinations.  We do not adopt to families with children under the age of 6.  Adoption Fee: $275 All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. Transport Fee: $350 Transport fee includes the cost of transport plus the Health Certificate required for USDA approved transport. Adoption applications can be found on our website: www.greatpyrsandpaws.org https://greatpyrsandpaws.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=5959   Northwest adopter pays cost of transport to independent transport company.  Transport is arranged by GPPR.       Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 24, 2024, 7:57 pm

Story
Pumbaa is a silly little man that loves to play outside. He enjoys ear scratches and lounging around his hoomans. His previous family consisted of 3 adults and 6 children of various ages. They noted that he is a good loyal dog and knows how to protect his pack. He lived in an apartment/condo situation that had access to a yard. He's been known to avoid other dogs and cats inside the home. From his previous notes, observation with his previous family and foster, we believe he has potential to be properly introduced to and eventually live with children, other mellow and calm pets. Our shy man prefers a calm environment and doesn't like sudden and loud changes around him. He has crate experience in his previous home. Pumbaa loves playing with squeaky toys (lamb chops) and trading sits for treats. He was used to 3 walks a day and is considered a medium energy dog. He is a playgroup rockstar here at APA! and has doggie pals. Talk to a matchmaker today to meet this polite gentleman.

Story
Everything's bigger in Texas! Meet Big Tex, a wiggly boy with a big heart of gold. "He's a sweet goober who just wants love," says one of Tex's former fosters. "He loves to eat and play with balls, bones and ropes." Big Tex loves people and thinks he's small enough to be a lap dog! He'll give you kisses in return for head scratches. This smart pup knows the "sit command, is house-trained and is content to sleep in his crate all night. Tex makes a perfect walking or jogging companion, as he's happy on a leash and loves exploring his neighborhood. When you're done walking, Tex relaxes in the sun or snoozes next to you while you work from home. He's very stressed out here at the shelter but thrives in a home. Big Tex capture your heart? Come meet him, and he'll give you a kiss!

Story
Looking for a four-legged friend who embodies intelligence, grace, and endless love? Allow us to introduce you to Sir Magnus, a distinguished pooch with a heart of gold. Sir Magnus is not your average dog-he's a smart boy with a charming personality. He thrives on human interaction and loves nothing more than following his fosters around the house, eager to be by their side at all times. Despite his size, Sir Magnus moves with surprising grace and agility, nimbly maneuvering around the home without a tail swath of destruction. He's uninterested in human items on the floor or within his reach. He politely watches food preparation inches from his big nose and doesn't beg for food or try to sneakily grab anything. While Sir Magnus is already an exceptional companion, he's a firm believer in the philosophy that one can never stop learning. He would greatly benefit from continued training to sharpen his skills and showcase his full potential. With his intelligence, confidence, and stubborn determination, he's sure to excel with the right guidance. Sir Magnus dreams of a forever home where he can bask in the sun and chase squirrels to his heart's content. He would thrive with someone who works from home or is home often, as he adores human company. A yard of his own would be ideal, allowing him to indulge in his favorite activities and soak up the sunshine. Sir Magnus is a people-oriented pup who forms strong bonds with his human companions. He's exceptionally good with people and would make a wonderful addition to just about any family. If you're ready to open your heart and home to this remarkable dog, don't hesitate to reach out.
