Story
Meet FAUNA! • Female • Anatolian/Lab mix • 1 year old • 41 pounds • Medium energy • Good with dogs • Great in a harness • Working on potty training Fauna doesn’t ask for much—just a space to stretch her legs, a canine buddy to share her days with and a family who understands that love sometimes grows quietly. She’s the kind of dog who finds joy in the simple things: crunching on a treat, walks around the yard and the occasional burst of play. Initially shy, Fauna's true self is a calm and quietly observant pup, with a slight independent streak. While she isn’t one to demand constant affection, Fauna’s gentle heart blossoms under patience and will ask for the occasional pat. She’s a stellar walker and would thrive in a home with a yard, daily routine and another dog. In time, Fauna will be the predictable, sweet and low-maintenance buddy every family dreams of Fauna is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative. Health Status ✔ Spayed ✔ Fully vaccinated ✔ Microchipped ✔ Treated for Parasites ✔ Heartworm Negative When Freya first arrived at HLCR, this gentle Anatolian Shepherd mix was riddled with parasites and barely had the energy to lift her head. But beneath her weakened exterior, we saw something special: a soul full of love just waiting to shine. Intuitive and emotionally responsive, Freya thrives on human connection and would flourish as a beloved house dog. She's not just looking for a home but for a special person who will appreciate her gentle spirit and unwavering loyalty. Freya does have some separation anxiety and would benefit from having a constant dog or human companion.

Story
Dear Santa, I hope you are doing well and that the reindeer are ready for their big flight. I have been trying very hard to be a good boy this year. My foster tells me I am a "Very Good Boy" almost every day, especially when I sit for treats, so I hope that counts for the Nice List. Usually, I would ask for a squeaky hedgehog or maybe a really big bone, but this year, my wish is different. I don't really need toys. What I really, really want is a forever home. If you can find me a family for Christmas, Santa, I promise to be the best gift they ever got. Here is what I can offer: I will keep their feet warm on cold nights. I will always be happy to see them when they come through the door (tail wags guaranteed). I will listen to all their stories, even the boring ones. I will clean up any crumbs that fall on the kitchen floor (I am very efficient at this). Please check your list twice and see if there is anyone who needs a loyal friend with a wet nose and a big heart. Love, Morty

Story
Top Hat is a one-year-old Anatolian Shepherd mix with a heart as big as his paws and a spirit that refuses to quit. After surviving a traumatic accident, this handsome boy has shown just how resilient and sweet he truly is. Despite everything he’s been through, Top Hat remains extremely bright, alert, responsive, and eager to enjoy life. Top Hat is currently healing from a jaw fracture and a few lacerations that are well on their way to recovery. He’s eating, drinking, and taking his medications like a champ, and his veterinary team reports that his prognosis is good. He’s on some temporary activity restrictions and wears a soft muzzle while his jaw finishes healing, but this is all short-term care with a clear recheck date in January. Behavior-wise, Top Hat is described as sweet, active, and affectionate, with no behavior concerns noted. He’s still young and will benefit from a calm, supportive home that can help him rest, heal, and continue building confidence as he grows into the loyal, devoted companion Anatolian mixes are known to be. Top Hat would do best in a foster or adoptive home that’s comfortable following post-injury care instructions for a few more weeks. In return, you’ll be rewarded with a grateful, gentle giant-in-the-making who’s ready to leave his rough start behind and begin his next chapter surrounded by love.
