Hey, I'm Famous Amos!I'm your 1-year-old bundle of energy, fun, and nonstop entertainment! I'm a true party animal who thinks everything in life is meant for exploring, adventuring, and play, and I'm always ready to bring the excitement wherever I go. I'm super smart and already know some basic commands, but I really thrive when I have a job to do-give me something to focus on and I'll shine! I'm active, athletic, and absolutely love toys and treats (the ultimate motivators), plus I'm great with other dogs and full of affection to share. If you're looking for a playful, lively companion who will keep you laughing and on the move, I'm your guy!*Qualifies for Pets for Patriots programPlease email Adoptions@saltlakecounty.gov with questions Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Brown Weight: 43.5 Age: 1yrs 0mths 3wks

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. In foster we've learned Potro does well with female dogs and very confident kitties.  He currently lives with 3 kitties and another dog.  He is doing well at the dog park, plus he loves all people.  He can show some reactivity to other dogs when being walked but will easily follow foster when turned away. Potro is very strong but has been worked on the leash and is doing well.  An adopter might consider using a harness and even some sessions with our behaviorist in the beginning. Potro's a great boy and is just waiting for someone to see that and give him a chance to be part of their family, forever!  He is contained by a 4' fence and doesn't challenge it - but if there is a gap in it he will take advantage of it and take himself for walkabout! Potro shadows foster mom, likes to be with her and cuddle.  He is left alone while foster goes to work but hangs around with her parents for several hours.  Although he has a crate he isn't in it that often any more, but having one available would be a good idea for an adopter until he is familiar with everything in a new home. Also absolutely no birds of any kind for this boy! He's showed his skills lately of catching pigeons in the yard, impressive but probably not a dog we'd recommend around poultry! Potro is being fostered in Utah. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 8, 2026, 12:51 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Ernie and Bert are adorable brothers we pulled from a Utah shelter. Our guess is there's a splash of Anatolian Shepherd in them but it's just a guess.  These boys are full of energy and play all day with each other. If they're not adopted together they absolutely need another dog and some kiddos to play with! They are working on house training and sleeping through the night.  Ernie and Bert have only had 1 set of shots and will need 2 more sets before they are fully protected. Both boys are being fostered in Utah.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 8, 2026, 12:51 pm

Story
Are you in need of a wingman? Look no further than GOOSE! This 7 YO malinois-lab mix would no doubt be admitted to Top Gun academy. He's smart (reportedly potty trained and knows cues such as "sit"), athletic (Goose can play fetch all day long!), and looks cool in aviator sunglasses (okay, we haven't tested this one, but just look at him!). Goose is one of our longest-stay dogs, having waited 39 days already for a home. This is baffling, because he's such a charmer. One of Goose's favorite pastimes is curling up and listening to talk radio, bringing a whole new meaning to "Talk to me, Goose!" Great balls of fire! You just found the Goose to your Maverick! Set up a meet and greet with Goose (who's currently chilling in a foster home) today by contacting our adoptions team at (801) 261-2919 ext 227 or adoptions@utahhumane.org Goose is "pay what you can," and his adoption includes age appropriate vaccines, de-worming, and a gift bag of goodies to go home with him.

Story
Meet Bo Breed: Belgian Malinois / Mastiff Mix Sex: Male DOB: August 3, 2022 Weight: 70 Pounds Health: Healthy and doing well Bo is a handsome, intelligent boy with a big heart and an even bigger personality. This energetic Malinois/Mastiff mix combines the loyalty and devotion of both breeds with a playful spirit that makes every day feel like an adventure. Sadly, Bo has become one of the rescue’s long-timers, patiently watching other dogs leave for their forever homes while he continues to wait for someone to notice him. He deserves the chance to finally leave the shelter behind and start the life he’s been hoping for. Personality Bo is affectionate, loyal, and full of joyful energy. He loves interacting with people and thrives on connection and companionship. His playful personality keeps life fun, whether he’s enjoying a walk, learning something new, or simply spending time close to his humans. Bo forms strong bonds and becomes deeply devoted to the people he trusts. His sweet nature and loving heart make him a wonderful companion who truly wants to be part of a family. Breed Info A Belgian Malinois and Mastiff mix combines intelligence, strength, and loyalty. Malinois are known for their sharp minds, trainability, and desire to work closely with their owners, while Mastiffs bring calm confidence and deep devotion to their families. Dogs with this mix tend to be incredibly loyal and thrive when given both mental stimulation and physical activity. With structure and engagement, they become deeply bonded companions who love being involved in daily life. Owner Responsibilities Bo already has a foundation of basic training, but like many intelligent dogs, he will benefit from continued training and mental enrichment. Regular exercise such as daily walks, play sessions, and activities that challenge his mind will help keep him happy and balanced. Positive reinforcement training will strengthen the bond between Bo and his adopter while helping him continue to grow into a confident, well-mannered companion. &#226&#154&#160&#239&#184&#143 Things to Consider Before adopting Bo, it’s important to think about your long-term lifestyle and stability. Are pets allowed where you live now and in the future? If you move, will Bo move with you? Do you have the time each day to provide exercise, engagement, and companionship? Are you financially prepared for routine veterinary care, food, and unexpected medical needs? Dogs like Bo deserve a home that is committed to them for life. Vet Care Even though Bo is healthy, adopters should establish care with their own veterinarian soon after adoption. This helps ensure preventative care continues properly and provides a trusted medical partner for Bo’s long-term health and well-being. Understanding the 3-3-3 Rule Like most rescue dogs, Bo will need time to adjust to his new home. The first 3 days he may feel unsure as he decompresses from the transition. The first 3 weeks he will begin learning your routine and feeling more secure. By 3 months, his confidence will grow and his full personality will shine. Patience and consistency during this adjustment period will help Bo thrive. Why Bo? Bo has waited patiently for someone to see the amazing dog he truly is. He is loyal, playful, intelligent, and full of love to give. Long-timer dogs like Bo often become the most devoted companions because they know what it means to finally be chosen. The family who gives Bo his forever home will gain a faithful friend who will stand by their side through every adventure.
