She's still a little puppy, with so much growing, learning, exploring, and loving ahead of her. Bloom is friendly with other dogs and good with children. Her compatibility with cats is currently unknown. With her German Shepherd and Belgian Shepherd heritage, Bloom may grow into an intelligent, loyal, energetic, and highly trainable companion. Shepherd-type dogs are often eager learners who develop strong bonds with their families. They typically do best when they're given opportunities to exercise their bodies while also using their minds. Because Bloom is still very young and is a mixed breed, her eventual adult size, appearance, energy level, and personality cannot be predicted with certainty. Her adopter should be prepared for the possibility that this tiny puppy may eventually become a medium-to-large, active adult dog. Bloom will benefit from: Plenty of love and companionship Daily age-appropriate exercise and play Positive-reinforcement training Puppy socialization Mental stimulation and enrichment Interactive toys and games Consistent routines and boundaries Safe and appropriate chew toys Continued veterinary care Patience throughout puppyhood and adolescence A lifelong commitment Bloom may only be nine pounds today, but adopting a puppy means making a promise to the puppy she is now, the adult she'll become, and the senior dog she'll someday be. Puppy Training, Adjustment & What to Expect At four months old, Bloom is still very much a baby. Her adopter should be prepared for normal puppy behaviors such as chewing, occasional potty accidents, bursts of energy, curiosity, distraction, and testing boundaries. Rescue puppies generally arrive with basic training at best, so Bloom's new family should be prepared to continue working on: House training Crate training as appropriate Basic commands Leash manners Appropriate chewing Bite inhibition Calm greetings Household boundaries Proper socialization Handling and grooming Because Shepherd mixes can be extremely intelligent, mental exercise will be important as Bloom grows. Short training sessions, food puzzles, scent games, interactive toys, and learning new skills are excellent ways to keep her growing mind engaged. Training should always focus on positive reinforcement, patience, consistency, and confidence building. Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 Days to decompress and begin feeling safe 3 Weeks to understand her new household routine 3 Months to fully settle in, build trust, and feel at home The time and effort invested in Bloom during these early months can help her develop into a confident, well-adjusted adult companion. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Bloom has already been spayed, dewormed, treated with NexGard, and received a multiple vaccine. Because she is only four months old, her adopter should have her vaccination records reviewed by their veterinarian to determine whether additional puppy vaccinations or boosters are still needed and when they should be given. Her future family should continue providing: Routine veterinary wellness examinations Completion of any remaining puppy vaccination schedule Future vaccinations and boosters as recommended Flea, tick, heartworm, and parasite prevention Quality puppy nutrition appropriate for healthy growth Healthy weight management Routine dental care Age-appropriate physical exercise Continued training and socialization Mental stimulation and enrichment Veterinary care whenever illness or injury occurs A safe and loving indoor home Because Bloom's body is still developing, her exercise should increase gradually as she grows. Excessive repetitive running, jumping, or strenuous activity should be avoided while she's still a young puppy.
