Story
She's a 2 year old heeler / cattle dog mix. She's currently undergoing heartworm treatment at Caloosa Humane Society Veterinary Clinic. She's the sweetest girl and would love a new home! She LOVES car rides, enjoys her toys and is potty trained! Very well behaved. We are still determining any potential reactivity with other dogs or kids, she may be dog selective.

Story
Miller is a 3-year-old Black Tri Heeler. He was owner relinquished. His family went through a divorce and he was living in an apartment in a crate most of the day. They couldn't offer him the life he deserved.Great with other dogs!Loves to run and play fetch! He is a snuggle bug and super sweet. He would be an excellent Farm Dog, he's a herder!!Crate trained. Potty trained. Leash trained Knows basic commands.Learns very fast!Miller is super smart and needs a job. He LOVES car rides! He would be a phenomenal agility dog!He loves water! He's learned to wait his turn for treats with other dogs. He's learning to be good with chickens, he runs through them for fun and is just curious. He's pretty good with cats. If the cat runs from him he will probably run after it. If it stands up to him he'll be terrified of it.So far, he's not great with little kids but good with older kids. However, that's likely just an exposure/training issue. He has had some good experiences, but if his boundary is involved he's reactive.Miller has very strong protective genes. He is boundary reactive if an unknown someone is approaching his space that he is 'supposed to protect'. He recalls by name extremely well with treats, and will go to his crate or his room on command. You can also have him sit and focus on a treat while new people enter the space around him, which helps. A harness with a handle has proven very helpful. He can be amazing with new people once he's introduced properly. Restaurants and the drive-thru are too overstimulating because he's trying to protect the space around him and he's not sure what to do with the new people that enter. This is again something that could be trained. He has gone to stores like Tractor Supply and been fine because he doesn't own the space.Miller needs a home that understands this breed and can offer him the outlet to safely act on his natural instincts in a controlled environment. A big yard or farm and some training would go a long way. If he could guard a fence line or gate instead of a front door that would be ideal.

Story
Meet Elfie Elfie is our quirky, sweet boy who has been patiently waiting over a year for his forever home—and we just know the right family is out there for him. He has a special way of making everyone smile, and it’s no surprise that our staff and volunteers absolutely adore him. Elfie gets along well with other dogs but can be selective. He is a joy to walk—he’s great on a leash and loves heading out on new adventures. While he enjoys getting out and about, Elfie would truly thrive in a calm, relaxed environment where he can feel safe, comfortable, and loved. He’s a big fan of being spoiled with treats and pup cups (and he never says no to a little extra attention). Elfie has so much love to give and would make a loyal, gentle companion for someone ready to give him the forever home he’s been waiting so patiently for. Adoption Fee: $295 Please Note: All potential adopters must be open to a home check and provide vet records to confirm that any dogs in the household are spayed/neutered and current on vaccinations. Meet Our Trio of Roadside Rescues – Ready for a New Beginning! These three sweet pups have already lived through more than most their age. One day, an elderly gentleman showed up at Big Dog Ranch with a heartfelt plea. He told us the pups had wandered up onto his land—likely dumped, like so many others before them. With a heavy heart, he explained he was too old to care for them and had seen too many dogs meet a sad fate along the nearby road. Thankfully, these three found their way to safety just in time. Now at Big Dog Ranch, they’ve received all the medical care, love, and nourishing food they need to heal and grow. Each pup has their own little spark, full of puppy curiosity, tail wags, and the hope for a brighter future. They’re healthy, happy, and more than ready to take the next step in life—finding a loving forever home. Come meet these resilient little souls and give them the new beginning they deserve!
