Story
Hi! My "friends" aka caretakers at the shelter call me Edgar. You can call me Eddie, or whatever you like! I think I like a name that ends in a vowell sound. But, whatever you choose will be fine. Anyway, I was on the run for quite some time and after a week of playing hide and seek with this rancher back in October, I lost the game and was caught. He brought me to this new place called the Mountainair Animal Shelter and I did not like it. They put me in this outdoor kennel and I tried my best to escape. I accidentally cut my foot and the volunteers said I needed to see a vet despite me telling them I'm fine. I was used to running free and then I was isolated, confined and confused. I gave that place 0 stars, but shortly after that, I got upgraded to the nicer indoor kennels. I still would prefer to be out on my own, but I am getting the hang of the routine here. I am a quiet guy and have never been a "pet" so indoor living will be brand new to me. I do great on a leash, but because of my fugitive past, I have not been let off leash. I enjoy some affection and keep my kennel as tidy as I can. I don't chew up my blankets or toys either. I am looking for a patient home and someone who can help teach me that indoor life isn't so bad. Could that be you? Apply now! My adoption fee is $100 and includes my vaccinations, neuter, microchip and heartworm test. ##2541623##

Story
Meet Paw Paw (also known as Mr. Paws)! Paw Paw (born approx January 2016) is a unique little senior cattle dog. He has quite the unfortunate background and will require a very special adopter. He is fully grown and an ideal weight for him is around 35lbs! If you know cattle dogs, you probably know they can simply LOOK at food and gain weight. He is fully vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and SOOO ready for his perfect home!Paw Paw is a unanimous volunteer favorite here at the shelter. This blogpost was written shortly after he came to us back in 2021. https://fomas.org/posts/from-isolated-to-hopeful-paw-paw-s-story/Paw Paw absolutely LOVES having a canine lady friend. His lady friends have come and gone through the shelter as they get adopted. He also loves having a routine and because of this he seems to be very comfortable at the shelter. (Dare I say...maybe he even enjoys life there?) He prefers to be outside and so his ideal home is somewhere he would be allowed to live primarily outdoors with a place to come into when he chooses. He loves female dogs but seems to have a bone to pick with other males. He could do well with submissive males provided there is enough space and an experienced owner. But, he has loved every female he has been introduced to - can you say bachelor?!A home away from the city is preferred as he is not a fan of loud noises and chaos. Our shelter is located at the rodeo grounds in Mountainair and rodeo days are his least favorite with the loud speaker, cheering, trucks and trailers, etc.Paw Paw, true to his breed, will make a very loyal companion once he has the time to warm up to his new people. He is skeptical by nature and his start in life didn't help that any. He will likely be an exception to the 3-3-3 rule and may need 6+ months to warm up to his adopter. It would be an incredibly rewarding experience building a bond with a dog like him.Paw Paw is very people-friendly, but if kids are in the home he would prefer that they are older. Loud/sudden movements and noises are not his thing. If you have a soft spot for seniors and can commit to letting Mr. Paws open up at his own pace, we would love to get him out of the shelter. He has been here on and off (due to a couple failed adoptions - no fault of his own) since 2021. ##2481798##
