Story
Meelo is a sweet 50 lb Beagle mix, approx. eight yrs old. He was left outdoors in the elements his entire life prior to being surrendered to the shelter and has adjusted well to living indoors in a comfy home. He is happy, energetic and friendly towards people and other dogs. Some favorite activities include: sniffing around the yard, napping on the couch with his canine buddy, enjoying treats and chew toys, but best of all --being close to his person. He is on medication to control seizures and undergoing slow kill heartworm treatment. He has been through a lot and still has some anxiety so needs someone who works from home or is retired since he wants and needs the company! Meelo has great house manners and can be left alone for an reasonable length of time and no longer needs or wants to be in a crate. He is not an apartment dog and a fenced- in yard is needed. He currently lives with another senior but may be fine as a only dog. This dog is available and everything we know about this dog is included in the dog’s description. We are only able to respond to questions once a completed application is received https://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. We do not respond to questions about our dogs sent through email or social media. Excellent vet references and a virtual home visit required. Your prior or current dog must be on year-round heartworm prevention. We transport by land or air whenever possible. Unless there is definitive documentation our breed and age assessments are based on visual appearances.April 24, 2024, 3:55 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Sid is a fun guy with big ears and lots of personality. He is very treat motivated and a quick learner. He loves to cuddle and be with his person.  This handsome canine friend has a leash aggression trait, which means that he thrives best in a home where he can be the sole dog. Sid's ideal environment includes a fenced yard, allowing him the space to explore, play, and enjoy the outdoors in a secure setting. In his foster home, Sid has shown great compatibility with other dogs. However, it's important to note that when meeting new canine friends while on a leash, Sid might take a bit of time to warm up. Patience is the key with Sid, as he transitions from cautious to comfortable when introduced to other dogs in a controlled manner. Sid's journey has shaped him into a loyal and loving companion, and his unique needs add a layer of charm to his personality. While he may need some time to build trust with other dogs, the rewards of having Sid as part of your family are immeasurable.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 24, 2024, 10:34 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Hi! I’m Squid. I’ve been waiting way too long for my new (well, actually first!) family to find me. It all started when I was a stray, roaming the streets and minding my business when another dog knocked me up. Oops! When I had my babies, I got taken to a shelter where I hid in the corner of my kennel to nurse my babies. Then some random lady picked me up and brought me to her house where I had a whole room to take care of my pups. I gave everything I had to my babies, to the point that all my hair fell out while nursing! How embarrassing! My foster mom fed me good food and gave me lots of baths and now I’m nice and shiny again.  Im currently crashing here with several dogs and some cats. Apparently cats don’t want to play with me, but that’s okay I just watch them now. I’m still pretty shy around new people and take several days to warm up in a new place. But now that I know my foster ma, I do a silly dance for her every time she comes home. Maybe I can show you?  I’ve had a pretty rough start between being a homeless single mother and all, but I’m learning that life can be pretty good! I love laying in the sun, carrying stuffed toys around, wrestling with my foster brother, and choosing to lay in cat beds that are way too small for me even if there’s large dog beds available.  Foster Mom keeps telling me that there’s a family out there for me, so I’ll keep dreaming about you until you find me!   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 24, 2024, 10:34 pm

We adopted June as a Puppy 2 years ago. She is an energetic dog who loves to be right next to you. She is a good girl who knows sit, stay, and come. She loves to play outside with you and enjoys car rides. She is a sweetheart who loves ear scratches and belly rubs and will never turn down an invite to cuddle up next to you.
