Story
We’ve had Herbie a couple of weeks and don’t think it’s a match. He’s about 2, according to the vet. We think he’s a Kelpie mix, maybe with German shepherd. He’s a long, lean beautiful, active, loving guy. Herbie loves people, is very smart and takes to training very quickly. He has had some private sessions w/ a trainer who raves about him. He does get jumpy meeting new people, when he wants to get exercise in, when he’s super excited. He loves plenty of exercise and mental stimulation/play but relaxes nicely as well and enjoys belly rubs. Herbie has been crate training and is able to rest comfortably in it, without prompting for short durations, including putting himself into crate or settling on his bed for the night. He’s great with other dogs but needs to go into a home without a cat. Likely not a good fit for small kids right now. He’ll make a great hiking, running, or couch partner.

Story
Marigold is as sweet a dog as they come. She is in a high kill shelter and we are the reason. We pulled and placed her brother and sister and did not know Marigold was left behind. We have run out of Bay Area foster homes and would love to find a great foster (adopter better yet) in the Bay Area. Please take a second look at this sweet 35 pounder. Marigold is smart, very will-to-please, treat oriented, loves cuddles but also a great outdoors dog who will make an incredible hiking partner and all around pal. If you are looking for a dog friendly, people friendly pet who is fun outdoors and chill inside watching tv, then contact us to find out more about sweet Marigold. Ask about our incredible foster to adopt program and how we use nutrition and inexpensive holistic support so that nobody ever needs an exprensive vet! We've got over 20 years experience and the healthy dogs to show for it. Give us a call today to find out more about Marigold.

Story
Indiana Jones AKA Jonsey Contact: Sharon 707-823-2342  Indiana Jones, aka 'Jonsey' is a sweet young (approx. 10mos) old neutered male cattle dog mix. Jonsey is very dog social & plays well with others. He's on the smaller side, maybe 30+ lbs. Jonsey was found with his sibling & the good Samaritan couldn’t keep both, so got Jonsey to a boarding kennel. Jonsey is a quiet guy, compared to some cattle dogs that can have a shrill & annoying bark. He is almost housebroken, which is hard, living in a kennel. Jonsey will be a great companion for someone patient, quiet, & willing to guide him along. Before coming to the kennel, Jonsey may have very well, never been inside. He is still tentative of loud noises, & unfamiliar places. He's coming leaps & bounds & loves all the folks who care for him. Jonsey will thrive in his own home.January 21, 2026, 12:10 am

Please contact Lucinda (lucinda@northbaycanine.org) for more information about this pet.North bay Canine Rescue and Placement  To fill out our adoption application please go here: http://northbaycanine.org/adopting-from-north-bay/  PUPPY So smart and cuddly. Ready to learn. Loves people. Red Speckled Australian Stumpy Tailed/Cattle dog mix Contact Hollie 707-321-5022 or dollielamafarm [at] yahoo [dot] com  Puppy is a handsome, red Stumpy Tail Australian Cattle Dog (Heeler) mix. He was picked up as a stray on July 30th. We thought he would be claimed quickly bc he was so sweet and good looking.  That is why we didn’t name him. We have called a variety of names: (full) Monty, Dingo Boy, Mr. Camo-Pants… mostly just “Puppy”.  The vet estimates him to be about 11 months old (11/20/2024) presently.  Puppy is aggressively friendly. He wants to say hi to every person and animal we come across on our walks or who comes to the house. He’s quite cheerful, smart, and eager to learn. What little training I have done with him is with the assistance of treat rewards.  He loves to be outside - running around, grazing on grass, or just sitting in the sunshine. Mornings are his active time requiring a good deal of attention, and he seems to settle down for naps more easily in the afternoon. In the evening he likes to sit with family on the couch to watch TV and get belly rubs. That said, he doesn’t quite grasp the concept of personal space. He believes himself to be a cat-sized lap dog.  Speaking of cats, we have an older female who confines herself to the master bedroom. Puppy will want to go in and say hi. She responds with hissing, meowing, and swiping if he gets too close. It did not look as if he wanted to attack her at all. He’s just curious.  He can be left home alone for a few hours during the day. This only happens about once every couple weeks. As far as toys go, he’s destroyed and tried to eat all things furry within hours. We limit him to Nyla bones and a couple of hard to destroy balls.  We put him in a kennel to sleep at night. He resists going in but doesn’t complain for the rest of the time once he’s in. He does great on a people bed, too, but wants to be let out too early in the morning for my grown kids’ taste when they’re here. He will tolerate a shower but doesn’t care to be towel dried.  Puppy is housebroken, neutered, and vaccinated (not chipped). He deserves a good home with someone to give him attention, training, enrichment, companionship, and room to run.   March 10, 2025, 11:51 pm
