He has a lot of energy and a high prey drive.  He is selective about the dogs he lives with so we recommend him to be an only dog and no dog parks.  He's medium in size, but extremely strong in muscle, hence could knock a child or frail person off balance with his exuberance &  enthusiasm.  To fill out our adoption application please go here: http://northbaycanine.org/adopting-from-north-bay/ Call: 707-776-6855 or write: lucindalnf@gmail.comSeptember 29, 2023, 1:35 am

Spot is an outgoing young pup who enjoys nothing more than to play and cuddle. Spot is deaf, so we recommend an adopter with experience, but we welcome everyone to come and meet him. He would make a great family dog, he is dog social, and he does not like cats! Spot is patiently waiting for his forever family to come and give him the second chance every shelter dog deserves. Story
LOCATION: SANCTUARY IN WILLITS, CA Taz is a whirling dervish of happiness! He actually is not likely a Cattledog - he has a very smooth coat, floppy ears, long, skinny tail, long legs. Energy and enthusiasm to spare! Fun dog for active people, he was originally fearful of men, but has come around (we have male staff) still likely a dog who will show stranger-danger response to some new men, and perhaps women entering his space or approaching his person when on leash - for this reason he really needs a confident and experienced dog handler/caregiver/companion so he knows he is not in charge - they are. He is a delight but needs a very experienced home. A running companion, training, consistency and lots of exercise this boy will make a great addition to the right home! Tall fences are a good idea as well! Thank you for considering adoption of a Milo Foundation Sanctuary dog. Our Sanctuary is where our rescued dogs who have had difficulty in a home in the past, have behavioral issues, or too much energy, or for some, aggression issues with other dogs, or intense stranger danger that make them more difficult to safely and happily live in urban environments. These are not beginner dogs or for the most part nor are they for families with children. IF you are looking for an easy dog to add to your family, we suggest looking at the dogs at our Adoption Center, Milo Pt Richmond. BUT, if you can offer a safe and nurturing home to a dog with some behavioral "quirks" please do send an application today. Thank you.

Story
O Sweet Peanut...he is a great walking companion, although touchy about leash removal, deaf, needs routine and adult companionship in a rural setting. Thank you. Sweet, but conflicted little guy previously adopted in 2013 - Peanut is deaf and selective of his friends both two and four-legged. Previous bio, "Phoenix has gone up to our Sanctuary for a bit to get a break from being kenneled! He is such a sweet boy - playing fetch and running about - yes, he's deaf and a bit OCD - but he is a wonderful companion - bright and cheerful - eager to please and take part - and to have fun!! Phoenix is a very sweet, active and unique fellow. Alert, watchful - and deaf. He has a small bit of hearing - but not much. He is bright and attentive and will learn hand signals readily - he needs structure, lots of activity and perhaps a playful, active mentor hearing dog. A vibrating collar can also be useful with a deaf dog - but cattle dogs are so rugged and sturdy and able to figure their way around problems we thing young Phoenix will manage just fine with herding breed savvy folks!" No kids, MUST have dog experience, stranger danger

Thank you. ************************************ Location: Milo Sanctuary Willits CA Pono is an amazing dog! He is a sweet and cuddly, smart and is learning new things quickly. He wants to be a good dog and responds very well to verbal cues. Just a short "no and he stops his behavior and looks at you, he is teat motivated. He is energetic but mellow inside the house and really loves to cuddle. He is very well behaved and hasn't chewed anything in the house. He is running free during the day and sleeps in his crate at night. He is house-trained, walks nicely on a leash and off-leash, can sit, lie down, wait for his meal, and comes when called. He can be left alone in his crate for 3-4 hours (MAX). He loves car rides and is always so happy to jump in and go for hikes. On walks he sticks with you and doesn't show prey drive. He is dog-friendly and loves to play with other dogs when in an outdoor neutral zone. He has many dog friends up at our Sanctuary which is outdoors. He is very affectionate and loves to hang out with me and my husband. When outside (even in the yard) he is friendly to people, but inside the house he is very protective. Dog-savvy people will know how to guide him to be a better host. He showed tendency to guard his food with other dogs, feeding separately is best. He CANNOT live with any small animals or other dogs inside a home. He has been in my house just for a week and made such an amazing progress! This sweetheart can't wait to be adopted! Pono is a very energetic, athletic and playful dog who loves to chase a ball! He is tremendously smart and very quick to learn, excellent on a leash, fantastic with other dogs and friendly when out in neutral places. He should not live with other dogs. He has some significant trust issues, so he is very protective of his house, people and property when it comes to anyone not in his inner circle. The ideal household would be with active, dog focused adults who have large-dog experience. He is sweet and affectionate with a lot of love to give. Pono is kid friendly out and about but can not be a family dog with kids in the home due to his over protective tendencies! He will need a human pal with lots of dog experience and no other kids or animals in the home

Not good with dogs,
Story
Lily is an active, full-throttle kind of girl! Grab life by the horns and run with it... or grab a big stick rather ! She LOVES running and chasing sticks, the bigger the better!!l She is super confident, a bit bossy, and selective about the company she keeps. Lily isn't a social butterfly, she would love a home with a couple active adults who don't have a ton of social activity in the home. She will protect, and maybe get possessive if allowed, so best to keep some boundaries with her! Smart, athletic girl who needs dog savvy folks with a yard and time to provide lots of love, play time (big sticks!) and ongoing training and stimulation. She doesn't love crowds, so no dog parks for Lily. Experienced dog-savvy applicants ONLY. Good with dogs,
Story
Johnny is a fine fellow-he is very social, happy, affectionate and a tad goofy and silly. He will greet you with a big smile and with non-stop tail wagging. Such a sweet boy, he loves playing with other medium to large dogs. He's fine around small dogs, and has been fine with cats, but might be a tad too physical for some smaller types. He's athletic and wants to be where the action is; he loves walks and playing with other dogs! It has been some time since Johnny has been in a home, but he crates well if needed when being left alone. Johnny would love to go to an active and predictable home without too many unexpected visitors or chaos. A household with older kids would be fine (because he is active, and wiggly), as long as parents are dog-savvy. The best-case scenario for our boy is active and fun-loving folks with the time to go out and play with their dog every day! This is a dog to lounge with, wrestle with, love on, and go have plenty of all kinds of adventures with. **Johnny's adoption fee is half off, (sponsored by a fan!) Adoption fee: $200.**
