Story
We adopted Holly when she was 8 weeks old. She is now 5 yrs. And 9 months. Holly currently has issues with anxiety stemming from outside influences such as storms, just rain, fireworks, odd noises, loud noises, etc…The level of anxiety ranges depending upon what she is actually hearing. At the “bad” end of the spectrum she pant heavily and climb up on anything she can, including us. She can be destructive and hurtful at these times and we have resorted to placing her in a reinforced crate in our bedroom. She takes fluoxetine daily and other prescribed medications when we know an event is coming.Holly wasn’t always like this. Early on she seemed normal, would go on walks and play with other dogs. There must have been something that started all this but we don’t know what. Her anxiety has gotten to the point that nothing works and it’s almost daily know. She now starts to “wig out” for no reason that we tell her. This is a sad time for my wife and I. We’re retired and now at our wits end

These pups are in Normal, Illinois too!

Story
Madra is a 3-year-old sweetheart with a friendly, loving personality. She loves belly rubs, enjoys being close to her people, and likes to believe she is a lap dog who is always ready to snuggle with her people. Madra is a happy, low-maintenance companion who is content with a relaxed lifestyle. She's happily lived with other dogs and cats before, and she knows "sit," "paw," and "down" and is always eager to show off her manners for a treat. She would be happiest in a home without stairs where she can stay comfortable and enjoy the easygoing life she loves. If you're looking for a loyal best friend who will happily soak up all the love and belly rubs you have to offer, Madra could be the perfect fit. Madra has experience living with other dogs and even a cat, and she enjoys spending time and playing with canine friends. She already knows the "sit" command and responds well to gentle verbal guidance, showing her eagerness to connect with and listen to her people. Whether she’s enjoying cuddle time, hanging out with the family, or making new friends, Madra’s affectionate nature shines through. Apply today to meet this lovable girl! After we review your completed survey, we will contact you by phone or email within three business days. Please note- Out of respect for our volunteers and staff, we are closed on Sunday and Monday and will not be processing any applications on those days. Please get back to us right away when we call or email regarding an application so that we can quickly connect using the process below: Select a pet and submit an online adoption survey. A PCH! adoption counselor will contact potential adopters within three business days (PCH! cannot guarantee any pet's availability, but we make every effort to accommodate adopters with a reply and possible alternative suggestions). An adoption counselor and client will then have a conversation to answer questions, discuss any medical needs for the pet and determine the suitability of a match (if necessary, we may opt to put adopters in touch with foster parents). After a match is made, clients will be asked to sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee online through our secure payment system *Please see our modified no-risk return policy. (below) The PCH! adoption counselor will then set up a specific appointment time and location. Adopters should bring a pet carrier and/or a leash to pick up and their ID. Adult pets will be wearing a collar. It is important that clients arrive on time, neither early nor late. Cats and kittens are required to leave in a pet carrier. If your adoption is scheduled at Pet Central Helps!: Upon arrival inside the Crossroads Center complex (360 Wylie Drive), look for the black Pet Central Helps! semi-trailer, which is right outside of our facility (Suite 720). Park in the parking lot and enter the facility. A PCH! representative will greet you and show you to the adoption room. Your new pet will be handed to you. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at PetSmart – Bloomington, IL: Park in the PetSmart (1606 E. Empire St.) Parking lot and enter the store. We will be set up just inside the store entrance. Let us know you are here to pick up your pet! A PCH! representative will confirm your information and hand you your pet. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at the Cat’s Meow Cafe: Navigate to PetSmart, park in the parking lot and enter the store. Locate a PCH! Representative at our adoption table and let them know you are picking up a Cat Cafe Cat. You will sign your final contract with your counselor and snap a picture of the completed screen. Head to the Cat’s Meow Cafe at 507 N. Hershey Rd and provide them with the snapshot of your final contract. They will get your cat and take a “Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. PCH! supports a 30-day no-fault return policy in which adopters are given the opportunity to find a better match. If we cannot provide advice/tools to keep a pet in the home we offer these options: Exchange for a pet that may be a better match** Receive a refund minus a $40 processing fee** With this approach, we can often turn mismatches into opportunities! Story
Meet Bingo – A Little Heeler with a Big Personality Bingo is a 2-month-old Heeler mix who weighs 5 pounds and is already showing off plenty of classic Heeler personality. She is a playful, energetic puppy who loves to be involved in whatever is happening around her. Like any young puppy, Bingo is still learning the basics and will need continued guidance with house training, manners, and settling down. She also has some typical Heeler herding instincts and can be fairly nippy during play. Her nipping is playful, but she'll need a family who understands the breed and is willing to help her learn appropriate ways to interact. Because of her puppy energy and herding tendencies, Bingo would do best with older children who can handle her playful antics rather than babies or toddlers. Bingo is looking for a family ready for the fun, training, and occasional chaos that comes with raising a puppy. With patience, consistency, and plenty of love, this little girl has all the makings of a wonderful lifelong companion. Her minimum adoption fee is $350 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. Story
Osiris may take a little time to warm up, but once you’ve earned his trust, you’ll discover a goofy, loyal best friend with a heart that’s absolutely worth the wait. This 5-year-old Australian Shepherd mix (61 lbs) is house-trained, quietly intelligent, and full of personality once he feels safe. At first, he takes his time getting to know new people, but he’s already shown what’s possible when someone invests in him. The staff at Wish Bone took that time, and now they get to see the real Osiris—goofy, playful, and affectionate. He’s a classic “watch first, trust later” kind of guy. In a home environment, you’ll often find him lounging on the couch, keeping tabs on the outside world like it’s his favorite reality show. But when he’s comfortable? Cue the zoomies. His silly side comes alive, especially enjoying his favorite toys. Osiris enjoys walks, car rides, and a good chew session, and he generally walks nicely on leash…unless a critter makes a guest appearance. Then his herding instincts kick in and it’s game on. He can also be a bit mouthy in play, and needs an adopter willing to work with him on manners. Because he startles easily and is still building confidence, Osiris is looking for an adult-only home with someone experienced in herding breeds. He’ll do best in a quieter home with few visitors, or one where he has a safe, comfortable space to retreat to when company comes over. He thrives on routine, patience, and people who respect his space. With patience, understanding, and a little time, Osiris blossoms into an incredibly devoted companion. The people who know him best have already seen how much love, personality, and potential he has to give, and the right home is going to be rewarded with one very special dog. His minimum adoption fee is $250, plus a $15 rabies registration fee for McLean County residents (if applicable). He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
