Story
This poor girl came into our shelter in rough shape, but with a little TLC, she is getting back on track. If you want the sweetest dog (with the most human eyes!), who loves people and other dogs, she is your girl. Even after all she's been through, she is just the best. Apply today! All Pet Central animals are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, microchipped (registration included), and current on parasite prevention. Dogs over six-months of age are heartworm tested. When adopting, we will ensure that you receive copies of veterinary and microchip records. If you are interested in this pet, please fill out the brief Adopter Survey by hitting "Apply for Adoption" on the profile. After we review your completed survey we will contact you by phone or email within three business days. We're primarily a volunteer organization, so we appreciate your patience. Please note- Out of respect for our volunteers and staff, we are closed on Sundays and Mondays and will not be processing any applications on that day. Do get back to us right away when we call or email regarding an application so that we can quickly connect using the process below: Select a pet and submit an online adoption survey. A PCH adoption counselor will contact potential adopters within three business days (PCH cannot guarantee any pet's availability, but we make every effort to accommodate adopters with a reply and possible alternative suggestions). Counselor and client will then have a conversation to answer questions, discuss any medical needs for the pet and determine the suitability of a match (if necessary, we may opt to put adopters in touch with foster parents). After a match is made, clients will be asked to sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee online through our secure payment system *Please see our modified no-risk return policy. (below) The PCH adoption counselor will then set up a specific appointment time and location. Adopters should bring a pet carrier and leash to pick up. Adult pets will be wearing a collar. It is important that clients arrive on time, neither early nor late. If your adoption is scheduled at Pet Central Helps!: Upon arrival inside the Crossroads Center complex (360 Wylie Drive), look for the black Pet Central Helps! semi-trailer, which is right outside of our facility (Suite 720). Park in the parking lot and enter the facility. A PCH representative will greet you and show you to the adoption room. Your new pet will be handed to you. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at PetSmart: Park in the PetSmart Parking lot and enter the store. We will be set up just inside the store entrance. Let us know you are here to pick up your pet! A PCH representative will confirm your information and hand you your pet. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day photo with your pet and family. PCH supports a 21-day no-fault return policy in which adopters are given the opportunity to find a better match. If we are not able to provide advice/tools to keep a pet in the home we offer these options: Exchange for a pet that may be a better match** Receive a refund minus a $40 processing fee** With this approach, we can often turn mismatches into opportunities! Thank you, Pet Central Helps!

Story
Birdie is a new arrival to TAPS in early December from Peoria County Animal Protective Services where she was picked up as a stray. They gave her a glowing review and we transferred her to TAPS. She is friendly, appears to be dog and kid friendly, has not been cat tested yet, and knows some basic commands like sit and down. She is a perfect walking partner. She likes to play fetch and returns the ball. Cattle dogs are typically very smart and energetic so Birdie will need a family that can provide her both mental and physical stimulation. Potty training and crate training unknown.

Story
Who is the handsomest boy??  Trevor knows he is.  Why wouldn't he though, just one look and everyone knows it. Trevor also has the absolute best personality to match his great looks. This young lad is always so happy and ready for anything. Trevor is believed to be a heeler/great pyranees mix based on his beautiful looks. He is great with all other dogs, he has met a 3 pound puppy and a 150 pound great dane and is a friend to all of them. He is also good with kids but is a 70 pound happy guy so could accidentaly knock over a very small child. He met a cat at the vets office and did great, a very calm nose to nose hello. Trevor is kennel trained and sleeps through the night. He does love to sleep in bed with his people also. He has had a few pee accidents in the house but they were mainly the first day, a few transitional accidents should be expected. He uses a doggie door in his foster home to take himself out to do his business, so an adopter should expect some additional learning time without the use of a doggie door. Trevor is very affectionate and loves attention and will jump up to get it. He will need some work with manners, and basic obedience is always encouraged to help form the strong owner/pet bond. With a little time and training Trevor would be the perfect addition to most active hoseholds. His adoption fee of $300 covers his neuter, microchip with registration, vaccines, and current monthly flea and heartworm preventions. Please apply at https://gfrpets.org/apply/adoptdog/. ##1867569##

Story
Maci is a 4 year old heeler mix with really beautiful markings! She is a loving young lady that enjoys belly rubs and giving kisses. This strong stocky girl weighs in at 78 pounds. She is house broken and knows her name. She can be trusted loose in the house when you are gone and will greet you at the door with a smile! Maci takes a little bit to warm up to new people, and once she does you have a friend for life. She loves going on walks, but does tug from excitement. She is said to be good with dogs, cats, and kids, but she is not a fan of the energetic 1 year old golden retriever in her foster home.  Maci's $225 adoption fee includes her spay, vaccines, heartworm test and prevention, flea/tick prevention, and microchip registration. Story
Meet Gidget, a 6-year-old Australian Cattle Dog/Pit Bull Mix weighing 46 pounds. Timid at first, but quick to warm up, Gidget transforms into a wiggly-tailed, affectionate companion. She loves being petted and thinks she's a lap dog, playfully booping your hand if you stop. Gidget is a work in progress, needing a patient home to help her build confidence. Her foster mom describes her as special, emphasizing Gidget's impeccable behavior, loyalty, and adaptability to various activities. This sweetheart is nervous of new situations and can be scared of her own shadow. Her foster mom thinks she'll be great with kids, but believes she'll be most comfortable in a quieter home with children over 10 years old. Gidget adores bed snuggling and beds—she's a pro at being a quiet sleeper at the foot of the bed. Gidget thrives outdoors and on walks, demonstrating impeccable leash manners and regularly checking in with her walker. Though she hasn't interacted with other dogs yet, her foster mom believes she'd enjoy their company. Despite lacking formal commands, Gidget is incredibly well-behaved, calm, and quiet, with no exhibited prey drive—even in the presence of pet rats. In search of a loving home with a fenced yard, Gidget is ready to blossom with the right person or family. She is a unique and special dog, eagerly awaiting the chance to become a cherished member of a lucky household. Her minimum adoption fee is $195 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
