They were bred to have a job, which means Pebbles isn't going to be satisfied with a quick walk around the block and 23 hours of Netflix. She needs plenty of daily exercise AND mental stimulation to keep that smart Kelpie brain happy! We think Pebbles could be AMAZING at things like agility, hiking, running, scent work, trick training, or other dog sports. 🐾 Meet Rusty! 🐾 Rusty is a 9-month-old Australian Kelpie/Shepherd mix who has already overcome more than any puppy should ever have to. He is currently being fostered in Mississippi but can be transported to an area near you via Rescue Riders LLC Transport. Rusty came into rescue when he was just 3 months old after someone found him. At the time, he had what appeared to be a chemical burn running the entire length of his back. We don't know what happened to him or how he was injured, but thankfully, he made it into rescue and has been given the care and love he deserved. Rusty also suffered an eye injury. We don't know if it was related to what happened to his back, but unfortunately, his eye could not be saved and had to be removed. But losing an eye hasn't slowed this handsome boy down one bit! ❤️ Today, Rusty is a happy, healthy boy who is ready for his forever home. He has a medium activity level and enjoys going for walks, but he isn't looking for a home that never stops moving. He has great manners, gets along wonderfully with dogs of all ages, and does well in a crate. Rusty is the kind of dog who has been through a lot (and he may always have a scar going down the length of his back), but hasn't let it change his sweet spirit. Meet Whisper! READ ALL ABOUT WHISPER'S STRAYCATION! HOUSE-TRAINED, CRATE-TRAINED, GOOD WITH KIDS & GREAT IN THE CAR! Agile and affectionate, this 1-year-old, 42-pound kelpie/lab mix is everything you could ask for in a best friend! Whisper is back at the kennel after enjoying a few days away in an awesome foster home. They said he was the best house guest! Whisper is ready to so long to kennel life and find a family that adores him. We are still looking for a full-time foster for this energetic boy. This impressive pup is already crate-trained and house-trained! He enjoys the company of other dogs and tends to have an all-in playstyle with them. Whisper was interested in playing with the family cat and we think he could do well with a dog-savvy cat in the home. Whisper spent some time with some older kids while he was away and became very fond of them! He had a blast playing fetch in the yard and will bring the ball back to you time after time. Whisper enjoys all toys and is a master at tug-of-war! Give this boy a variety of chew toys to keep him happily engaged and you'll have one delighted dog! His foster family was able to take both food/toys away with no issue. When it comes to treats, he sits nicely and appreciates all sorts of tasty morsels. He is learning multiple commands and we have no doubt he will impress everyone he meets. Of course Whisper always makes time to snuggle with his adoring volunteers. He does well being bathed too! Whisper also attended our Tails & Trails 5k event and had the best day ever! He behaved perfectly and enjoyed meeting plenty of people and puppy pals. He ran with one of our volunteers for the 5k and enjoyed every minute of the day. Of course he made plenty of time to cuddle up with volunteers along the way. He has been overlooked for far too long! A family that can provide lots of daily exercise and continued training is a must for Whisper. He's a very athletic guy who could be excellent in agility or as a running buddy. He would love to be part of the action and needs a nice yard to explore in his new home. At the end of a fun-filled day, he sleeps quietly through the night. Based on our evaluation, we feel Whisper would do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages eight and up. He may have the capacity to live in a home with other animals of a similar energy level and we are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby! Currently this sweet baby is with our rescue, The Artemis Project, in Arkansas. We DO, however, transport monthly to the metro Detroit area of MI. Because we’re able to transport, we ARE able to accept adoption applications directly from residents of MI. Why do we transport? Because animal overpopulation is severe in our region, and stray and unwanted dogs have very little chance of finding a home here. These babies are, however, at a high risk of being neglected, abused, abandoned, euthanized or even shot (it’s “the way things are done” for some people down here). YOU are truly one of the only safe and happy endings for the lucky ones we are able to rescue. Upon approval of your adoption application, we will then transport your new furbaby to you in the metro Detroit area for just a small travel expense fee of $50 in addition to the adoption fee.
