Story
GUST AND HIS BEST FRIENDS PLAN TO BE AT A MEET AND GREET SUNDAY DECEMBER 7 12:30 -2:30 AT PET EVOLUTION ON 1074 GRAND IN ST. PAUL. COME AND CUDDLE AND MAYBE GO HOME WITH A FRIEND FOR THE HOLIDAYS. Gust and his siblings were surrendered to PUP because the owner, who lived in a remote area, could not afford the pups and felt she could not find suitable adopters. The mommy dog is a much loved 30# ‘low rider’ with short legs (pictured). A partner organization agreed to pay for her to be spayed if PUP found homes for the puppies. The owner did a good job of socializing the pups and they arrived in good health. They are well socialized, playful and are enjoying the good life. Gust looks like he is going to be a bit taller than some of his siblings and we expect he will be a mid-sized dog when he is full grown. We did DNA testing on Gust but the results won’t be in until mid December. Dogs from the area who have DNA testing often have 20 or more breeds and nearly always have some shepherd, husky, cattle dog, and even the largest pooches have a bit of Chihuahua. We strongly suspect Gust has some Doxi and maybe some cattle dog in this mix. (Rumor has it that there is a male cattle dog on a neighboring ranch.) The early months are when puppy learns the social skills needed to be a skilled dog in dealing with other dogs and a good citizen in the human world. Adopters should be committed to getting puppy into lots of new and different human social situations, hearing vacuums, trucks, and rattling garbage cans, meeting people who are clapping, laughing, with hats, tools, bikes and skate boards. AND puppy needs many opportunities to meet and greet dogs of all shapes, sizes and dispositions. Just sharing a home with another dog is not as much doggie socializing as puppy needs. If good canine social skills are not learned and maintained during these early months, it will be very difficult to ever master them. Puppy play dates, trips to the pet store, puppy socialization classes and later, obedience classes are particularly important. If all this doggie time and involvement seems like a good idea, you are up for a puppy! As always, a tired dog is a good dog. Puppy has been vet checked, (he weighed 7.6# on 12-1) vaccinated and de-wormed. He will need two additional puppy vaccinations plus rabies at the adopter’s expense. We do place puppies outside the metro area if a firm plan for the alter surgery is in place; we do not ship. His required alter surgery is covered by the adoption fee if it is done at 6 months at the PUP clinic. We require that he be altered at 6 months. If you are at least 21 years old and everyone in your household is on board with adopting a puppy, CALL 651-645-4370 between 7:00 am and 9:30 pm and we will return your call within 24 hours. We are pretty slow at responding to e-mail. Renters must provide proof that you are allowed to have a puppy. If you currently have a companion dog or cat please be prepared to provide a vet reference prior to adoption if requested.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Cobre is a sweet and chill boy who loves being outside and running around the yard. He especially enjoys having his ears and neck scratched. At first he was very shy, but being around other dogs has already helped him come out of his shell so he'll need a confident companion dog in his adoptive home. He still has some skittish moments and is not fully potty trained, but he has shown quick improvement in just a short time and will likely continue to gain confidence with patience and consistency. Cobre came from a group of four abandoned puppies and is still  learning what it means to feel safe and loved. He makes his foster mom laugh by climbing into the water bowl to splash around. The only time he fusses is for a few minutes at night when first kenneled, and then he settles down. Cobre will thrive with a patient adopter who can give him time to adjust and a calm environment where he can feel secure as he blossoms into the wonderful companion he is meant to be. Cobre is from Texas.  If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Laika is an energetic and affectionate Aussie/Collie mix with a medium coat and the brightest blue eyes! When she first came into foster care, she was nervous and protective, but with patience, gentle reassurance, and lots of treats, she now follows me around everywhere! O nce she feels comfortable, her sweet and playful personality shines through.    Laika loves curling up at your feet for naps and often checks back in for attention when outside, showing just how loving and loyal she can be. She is still learning the ropes of meeting new people and dogs—she can be reactive/vocal at first, so slow introductions are key. Due to her breed, she is a high-energy pup. Laika thrives on playtime, often chasing squeaky toys and playing fetch, or running around with our resident Chihuahua/Dachshund mix. Laika knows basic commands and is potty trained. She is very food motivated and is therefore eager to keep learning.   With continued training, patience, and love, Laika has the potential to be a loyal and cuddly companion who will bring both laughter and energy to her future furever home!   Laikia is from an Owner Surrender. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet LuckyLady, the happiest little whirlwind you’ll ever love! This sweet, affectionate girl is all heart—and all energy. When she gets excited (which is often), she may bounce, hop, and do her signature “morning donuts,” spinning in joyful circles the moment she sees you. LuckyLady gets along wonderfully with cats, other dogs, and every person she meets. She’s incredibly friendly and loves attention, though she’s more of a “let’s play!” girl than a snuggly couch potato. Her attention span is short and her enthusiasm is huge, so she’ll sit with you for a moment before zooming off to see what fun she can find next. She’s not super into toys, but a squeaky toy will definitely get her ears perked and her head tilting. This girl is still learning her manners—she has “sit” mastered, but leash training and obedience are works in progress. She doesn’t mind the leash at all but may pull or run circles because she’s just so excited about life. She’s mostly potty trained but still needs frequent outdoor breaks, as she hasn’t quite figured out how to tell you she needs to go. Crate training is going well too—she may protest for a few minutes, but she settles quickly and quietly.  Here is a video of Lucky being such a good girl, taking a treat. LuckyLady is also petrified of stairs, likely because she hasn’t had much experience with indoor life. She’ll need patience, encouragement, and a family willing to help her learn the world isn’t so scary. Because of her high energy and bouncy personality, she may accidentally knock over small children, so a home with sturdier kids or adults would be ideal. But one thing’s for sure—she is incredibly sweet, eager to learn, and excited to meet new people every single day. If you’re looking for a joyful, goofy, loving companion who will brighten your mornings with her donut spins and your days with her big heart, LuckyLady is ready to dance her way into your home!
