Jenny came to us from our local shelter where she had just given birth. We moved her and her puppies into one of our foster homes so she could relax and raise her family in peace. Jenny is shy in new situations and with new people but once she warms up, she is the sweetest, affectionate girl who loves to give hugs! She loves to play with a friendly dog in her size range but is also content to throw toys in the air all by herself! She may not be a toy-chaser or tennis ball fanatic, but she has her own quirky charm—like quietly stealing a sock or curling up in her crate for some well-deserved alone time. Scootie is intelligent and knows basic commands like “sit” and “leave it,” even with distractions. She walks nicely on leash and enjoys gentle, structured interaction. Scootie can be timid with new people and defensive or reactive around unfamiliar dogs, but with slow, mindful introductions, she has shown she can get along with select canine companions. She’s a little bit of a herder at heart and sometimes tries to “organize” her foster siblings—but she listens when told to take a break in her crate. This smart girl has even figured out how to open baby gates! She’s dog-door trained and has had zero accidents in her foster home or crate. Scootie is affectionate with people she trusts and enjoys petting and curling up on the bed—but she values her personal space and does not enjoy being restrained.
