Story
Meet Romie 💙 Romie is a sweet, gentle boy with a heart as soft as his eyes. He’s the kind of dog who naturally wants to be right by your side—literally. On walks, Romie stays close and happily heels when asked, like a perfect gentleman. Romie is smart and eager to please. He already knows sit, stay, lay down, spin, and paw, and if you ask him “do you want it?” he’ll give you an adorable bark in response. He’s very treat-motivated, especially when peanut butter treats are involved, which makes training fun and rewarding. Playtime is another one of Romie’s joys—he absolutely loves a good game with a tennis ball. When it’s time to head out, he’ll calmly come right up and sit politely, waiting for his leash to be put on. Romie is also a total love bug. He enjoys coming up to his people and leaning into them for affection, happily soaking up butt scratches and gentle pets. While he can be a little nervous in new surroundings, he is not reactive to noises or the environment and settles in with reassurance. If you’re looking for a well-mannered, affectionate companion who wants nothing more than to walk beside you and share your love, Romie might just be your perfect match. 🐾

Story
Pebbles is my sweet Blue Heeler mix who I adopted when he was only 8weeks old. He is very smart, sweet, goofy, and always loves some good “scratchies”. He enjoys hikes and walks, as well as playing with squeaky toys, but equally enjoys lazing contentedly around the house. He is house trained and has no separation anxiety. I never used a crate, he can be left alone and isn’t at all destructive. He chews toys he is given but leaves my son’s toys alone and never gets into food or trash. Unfortunately he has never taken to being a family dog. Pebbles ideal life would be in a home without children. He is good with other dogs. He displays anxiety and signs of aggression at times toward my child. Open to initiating behavioral modification training and slowly transitioning ownership if desired by a new family. We just cannot afford ongoing care with a Behavioral Specialist Vet. Pebbles also has allergies and we are managing those as best we can. Thanks for your consideration! ❤️🐶🫂

Story
In 2022, we adopted a three-month-old puppy from the SPCA in Virginia. Initially shy and anxious, Albus was listed as a Labrador, but a DNA test revealed he was a mix: 53% Australian Cattle dog, 19% Australian Shepherd, 17% Rottweiler, and 10% American Bulldog. Albus (now almost 3.5 years old) is a sweet, fun, and challenging dog. He is challenging due to his reactivity around strangers, which has improved greatly over the last year. We love Albus, and wish we did not have to rehome him - but we would also like to start a family. Having a baby, and managing a challenging dog is more than we feel we can handle. We are not in a huge rush, and want to find an ideal match. Albus would be a perfect companion in a home with space to run and play fetch, with no young children, and an experienced dog owner who can continue to train him. Because he can be reactive to strangers, a home without many new people coming by would be ideal. We are now in Potomac, Maryland - not Charlottesville!
