Story
Millie is an 8 year old Aussie looking for a home without small children. She is currently boarding with a trainer. The Good: Millie has good obedience skills and is a pro at fun tricks. She has an incredible food and toy drive and would be a lot of fun in agility, nose work, etc. She is very sweet and affectionate once she forms a bond with you, which only takes a few minutes if you bring food or toys. She loves water and her perfect home would take her swimming-pools, rivers, lakes, beach-she loves them all! Millie is in great health, has been part of her current family since she was a puppy, and is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations. The Bad: No young children, please! Possibly older dog savvy kids would be ok. Millie had a bite history with a handler which will be fully discussed with a potential adopter (once in 8 years). Millie may exhibit stranger danger, but she's perfectly fine with appropriate introductions. She simply doesn’t appreciate being pressured by strangers but if they have food, she’ll make an exception. This is generally only an issue inside her home, but once introduced properly she’s fine. From her owners: "We've made the tough decision to find a new loving home for Millie after over 8 years of companionship. Our growing family, with a 1-year-old and another on the way, isn't compatible with Millie's needs. Both our vet and professional trainers support this decision. Our top priority is to secure the best possible environment for Millie.” **This is a courtesy posting only.  If interested in Millie, please email  foxhollowkennel@gmail.com.   ##1847581##

Story
Meet Octavia, our sweet and gentle 3.5-year-old Australian Shepherd, a survivor of an HSUS hoarding case. Octavia has mastered crate training and finds comfort in her cozy space when she needs a break. She is also fully housetrained. Octavia gets along well with her foster's kitty, displaying curiosity yet remaining calm. She enjoys the company of other dogs, especially the mellow labs in her foster home, and communicates her boundaries appropriately. However, she'd also be content as the sole pup in a loving home. While a bit shy on a leash, Octavia flourishes in a fenced yard, relishing playtime and freedom. Her ideal forever home will have a secure fence, and patient humans willing to invest in positive reinforcement training. Her gentle and sweet spirit shines through despite initial shyness once she trusts you. She is a very happy dog who, with time, is confident around people and dogs she trusts. She enjoys pets but appreciates folks who respect her cues, allowing her to initiate affection. Octavia, in general, appreciates humans willing to go at her pace. She has a lovely personality, sweet and kind but playful. We anticipate that after some time in a home where she feels safe, she may become pretty active, as she does love to run and bounce around. If you're ready to open your heart to gentle Octavia, she's prepared to bring love and joy to her forever home! Apply for Octavia at greendogsunleashed.org/adopt/ At the time you are seeing this post, this dog is still available for adoption. But please know that we may be working on multiple applications already, and any one of them could be approved at any time. Please READ THIS ENTIRE DESCRIPTION and complete an adoption application, if you are interested in any of our animals. PLEASE KEEP READING for info. */*/* PLEASE NOTE: The first communication you will receive after completing an application will be an email response, which will have instructions on how to proceed. Please check your inbox AND spam folders for the next 48 hours, for this email. We will not begin processing an application without the information requested in that email. */*/* We are happy to consider applicants from out of state on most dogs. Please read the description to see if this dog is an exception. If the applicant is approved to adopt, they MUST be willing to come to our location in Troy, VA, for a meet and greet. For more information about our mission and for an APPLICATION for adoption, please go to www.greendogsunleashed.com. GDU does ask a minimum adoption fee of $400.00. This does not even come close to covering all expenses created by animals while in rescue. We are funded solely by the angels and volunteers willing to donate time and finances. This minimum fee includes DAPP, rabies if age appropriate,, heartworm test and preventative, if age appropriate, and flea and tick treatment, as well as neutering or spaying, if the animal is medically sound to undergo surgery. In an attempt to avoid tummy upset from a sudden change of food, the foster family may include a small, transitional bag of the food the dog/puppy has been eating. And if the dog/puppy has grown attached to a special item (like a toy or blanket), they may send that along, as well. */*/* Young puppies will receive age-appropriate vaccines, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Adopters may be required to provide additional puppy boosters and at 16 weeks of age, a rabies vaccine. Future annual vaccines, testing and monthly heartworm preventative are REQUIRED, and will be the financial responsibility of the adopter. *****Due to the sheer number of animals and applications in our program, coupled with a limited number of volunteers, applicants MUST have patience as we process applications.   If you do not hear back from us, the animal may have been adopted.   We strive to let people know but sadly cannot offer reasons for denial beyond that.  Any harassment of our volunteers will go unanswered and we will simply block you.   Our volunteers spend their time working hard to ensure the very best for each animal.   Please remember the animal, not the applicant, is our client.*****  ##1870754##

Story
Meet Wiley, our gentle 60 lb Aussie Lab cross! Wiley is a resilient pup who has overcome his rough start in life as part of the crew from a HSUS hoarding case of over 100 dogs. Due to his previous negative experiences with humans, Wiley is a bit shy and is seeking empathetic and patient individuals to welcome him into their hearts and homes. In his foster home, Wiley has shown excellent house manners. He happily engages in independent play, chews only on appropriate toys, and willingly retreats to his crate when it's time for a nap or bedtime. While he's still working on being confined in his crate with the door closed, Wiley is content to spend time there with the door open. Wiley gets along well with other dogs and loves to frolic and play with them in the yard. He's currently learning to feel comfortable on a leash, so a fenced yard would be ideal for him at this time. Though Wiley hasn't been with us for long, he's already begun to relax and trust his foster family. He takes cues from the other pups in the home and approaches his humans for affection when they are receiving pets. He's a happy, loving boy who simply needs to move at his own pace. If you're ready to be Wiley's compassionate guide to understanding the true meaning of family and provide him with the loving home he deserves, apply to adopt him today at greendogsunleashed.org/adopt. Story
Looking for a furry companion to join your outdoor adventures? Meet Ford, a 1-year-old Australian Shepherd mix bursting with energy and affection! Ford is potty trained, crate trained, neutered, and up-to-date on his shots. Despite being a double merle, which has left him deaf and with impaired vision in one eye, it doesn't dampen his spirits one bit! He's attentive to hand signals like "sit", "down", "stay", and "come" and reading body language, making communication a breeze. Plus, you won't need to worry about thunderstorms or doorbells startling him! This smart pup adores long walks, hikes in new places, and making new friends. He thrives in the company of other animals and active humans. Loyal and loving, Ford is seeking a family who wants to spend lots of time with him. While he adores kids, he may be a bit too energetic for very young ones. If you're an outdoorsy individual seeking a loyal companion with a wiggly butt, Ford is ready to be your best friend! Apply to make him a part of your family today at greendogsunleashed.org/adopt. At the time you are seeing this post, this dog is still available for adoption.
