Story
Shiva is a very loyal, very intelligent, beautiful, approximately 9 y.o. Australian Shepherd. She loves meeting human adults and is very curious about them. She is a neat and deliberate eater and enjoys her chow and snacks, but not food-guarding. She is healthy and up to date on her vet checks and vaccines. Her very favorite pastime is playing ball with her human. She can hardly get enough. Also, she is very good in the car, enjoying shotgun seat so that she can observe everything going around her. She is a very good walker, once she gets her playful energy spent, and she listens and minds well. She needs to be near her human, but is not clingy, although she can get a little "talky" when she wants a snack, potty break, or a game of fetch. She has lots of personality. Indeed, her only issue is her reactivity to other dogs, and though I've had no bad experiences, I would not trust her with young children who do not understand a dog's behavior.

Story
Icarus is a house‑trained, gentle‑hearted boy who is discovering how wonderful it feels to be loved. He is a 5 year old Australian Shepherd Mix who weighs 57 lbs.  He willingly goes to his crate for meals—just be sure to have a treat handy, because he prefers choosing it himself rather than being led. He spends his days soaking up affection, and curling up beside his people whenever he gets the chance. Inside, Icarus will occasionally burst into joyful zoomies, but outside he’s a calm observer who likes to sit quietly and take in the world. He’s a true lover at heart—soft, sweet, and happiest when he’s close. He’ll gently paw at you for pets and will happily snuggle up any time of day. Icarus enjoys walks, toys, and a good bone to chew on. His playful moments are adorable, but his favorite thing in the world is simply being loved on. Because he’s easily spooked by loud noises and sudden movements, Icarus will do best in an adults‑only home or with a family familiar with herding‑breed tendencies who has respectful, calm kids around 12+. Life with humans who care for him is still new, so an experienced dog owner will be the best match to help him continue building confidence and becoming the best version of himself. His foster mom describes him perfectly: Icarus is a very sweet boy who loves love. He’s a cuddler through and through, always ready to curl up beside you and soak in every bit of affection. If you’re looking for a gentle, loving companion who wants nothing more than to be close to his person, Icarus may be your perfect match. His minimum adoption fee is $300 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. Story
All Pet Central animals are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, microchipped (registration included), and current on parasite prevention. Dogs over six-months of age are heartworm tested. When adopting, we will ensure that you receive copies of veterinary and microchip records. Records are sent via email. Paper versions are available upon request. If you are interested in this pet, please fill out the brief Adopter Survey by hitting "Apply for Adoption" on the profile above. After we review your completed survey, we will contact you by phone or email within three business days. Please note- Out of respect for our volunteers and staff, we are closed on Sunday and Monday and will not be processing any applications on those days. Please get back to us right away when we call or email regarding an application so that we can quickly connect using the process below: Select a pet and submit an online adoption survey. A PCH! adoption counselor will contact potential adopters within three business days (PCH! cannot guarantee any pet's availability, but we make every effort to accommodate adopters with a reply and possible alternative suggestions). An adoption counselor and client will then have a conversation to answer questions, discuss any medical needs for the pet and determine the suitability of a match (if necessary, we may opt to put adopters in touch with foster parents). After a match is made, clients will be asked to sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee online through our secure payment system *Please see our modified no-risk return policy. (below) The PCH! adoption counselor will then set up a specific appointment time and location. Adopters should bring a pet carrier and/or a leash to pick up and their ID. Adult pets will be wearing a collar. It is important that clients arrive on time, neither early nor late. Cats and kittens are required to leave in a pet carrier. If your adoption is scheduled at Pet Central Helps!: Upon arrival inside the Crossroads Center complex (360 Wylie Drive), look for the black Pet Central Helps! semi-trailer, which is right outside of our facility (Suite 720). Park in the parking lot and enter the facility. A PCH! representative will greet you and show you to the adoption room. Your new pet will be handed to you. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at PetSmart – Bloomington, IL: Park in the PetSmart (1606 E. Empire St.) Parking lot and enter the store. We will be set up just inside the store entrance. Let us know you are here to pick up your pet! A PCH! representative will confirm your information and hand you your pet. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at the Cat’s Meow Cafe: Navigate to PetSmart, park in the parking lot and enter the store. Locate a PCH! Representative at our adoption table and let them know you are picking up a Cat Cafe Cat. You will sign your final contract with your counselor and snap a picture of the completed screen. Head to the Cat’s Meow Cafe at 507 N. Hershey Rd and provide them with the snapshot of your final contract. They will get your cat and take a “Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. PCH! supports a 30-day no-fault return policy in which adopters are given the opportunity to find a better match. If we cannot provide advice/tools to keep a pet in the home we offer these options: Exchange for a pet that may be a better match** Receive a refund minus a $40 processing fee** With this approach, we can often turn mismatches into opportunities! Thank you, Pet Central Helps!

Story
Toby is a sweet and playful Australian shepherd saved from a kill shelter. He loves playing with other dogs and needs a home that has a playmate for him. Toby also needs an owner with an active lifestyle who can help him get all his energy out everyday and also requires a home with a fenced in backyard! Here's the truth of it: Toby has a bite history. Toby will be very loyal and friendly to his family he knows but he WILL display protective behaviors when visitors come over and if not crated or kept on leash will bite them. We are looking for an adopter who has experience with dogs and of course no small children in the home.March 7, 2026, 12:04 pm

Story
Scout is a loyal and playful cattle dog who loves to run, play, and explore — especially in a farm setting where he has space to stretch his legs! 🐕💨 Scout is looking for a special home with a patient, understanding woman who appreciates his breed’s protective nature. He prefers a quieter household without men or young children, where he can truly feel safe and loved. This smart boy has been adopted and returned twice, simply because his strong protective instincts weren’t the right fit for previous families. Scout is ready to find his forever match — someone who understands cattle dogs and can give him the safe, structured environment where he’ll thrive. ❤️
