Not good with cats, Spayed or Neutered,
If you are interested in meeting/adopting from us please visit and complete an adoption application. We only schedule meetings once you are approved to adopt. All dogs will be up to date on vaccines, heartworm tested, on flea/tick/heartworm preventative, be spayed/neutered and mircochipped at time of adoption, the adoption fee is $300Cowboy is a 5 year old blue merle mini/toy Australian Shepherd male who weighs in around 14 lbs. Cowboy is house-trained and will go stand or sit at the door to let you know he wants out.Cowboy also knows several commands: down, sit, up, shake left, shake right, high five and stay. He loves going on car rides, going for walks and loves meeting people. He goes to Lowe's and is always wagging his bum and wanting to meet people. While he is leash trained, he does initially pull when first headed out the door on a walk. Cowboy LOVES his tennis balls and his favorite thing is to play catch. If you toss the ball up in the air, he will jump to catch it.Cowboy is crate trained, but does not need to be crated. However, he does consider the crate his safe space and as such, he does have some tendency to guard his crate. Cowboy is good with other dogs, however, he would prefer to get ALL of your attention. Also, for this reason, we recommend no children under 15 years in the home or kids that are very dog savvy. Cowboy is not good with cats.Cowboy does have a few quirks that can ramp up his anxiety to where he feels he has to defend himself. Cowboy, like most herding breeds, is scared of storms, thunder especially will send him running for a nice dark corner to hide. Fireworks are also a trigger. Additionally, loud noises and raised voices (yelling) seem to make him respond like he is in trouble, meaning, he will not response to commands.Cowboy is extremely leery of grooming brushes and bathing. We are not entirely sure of his background in grooming, but obviously his previous experiences have presented him with some fears. Continued positive reinforcement and patience would be required for any adopter and/or groomer in this area.Cowboy also has some crate fears as well, meaning if you attempt to shut the door, he will become barky and snarly. While he does like his crate, he can exhibit some resource guarding behaviors towards it. He eats in bowls placed away from the crate and then picked when finished. This is an area where his adopters will need to continue working on with patience and positive reinforcement.Cowboy may have a few items he's still working on but overall, he is a great dog. He is looking for a quieter environment, where he can enjoy the company of his people, run errands and take car rides. He would be best in a home with a physically fenced yard and no small humans.*** SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY ***Thank you for your interest in adopting from Saving Dogs.

Aren’t I just the most handsome, beautiful merle Aussie you have ever seen? I am 4 years old and lived my whole life in a small pen outside. My owner didn’t take good care of me, so a neighbor stepped in to care for me, and helped me find my way to rescue! I love my foster home and foster siblings, where I am free to run in the house and have time outside in the yard, playing in the sprinkler (I LOVE WATER) and playing with my foster siblings. I love other dogs and every person I have ever met!! I have also learned to play tug and fetch, my favorite games!! I love to supervise my mom outside when she is gardening. I lay close by in case she wants to play a game of fetch! I do love to play and am busy, but I do have an off switch, will relax, and crawl in your lap if allowed. I don’t care much for my crate, after living 4 years in a pen, and never out of it, but my foster mom feeds me in, and I get special treats when I do go in my crate. I am getting better but prefer to be free to follow foster mom everywhere. The outside world is so big and interesting, I don’t want to miss anything new!! Mom is teaching me to stay inside and wait when she opens a door to the outside. We are working really hard with the wait signal, and I am getting it most of the time. If I forget, and escape, I am just out looking for my friends in the neighborhood. We are also learning to walk on a leash with a harness. Mom says I still need work because I like to pull, but it is a whole new wonderful world out there to see! Mom says I am goofy and silly, not really knowing sense of personal space, and act very much like a puppy. But hey, I’ve never had anyone love me like my mom does, and I want to be close to her! I am house trained but may need a refresher in my new home. I will need an owner that knows about my breed and keep my body and brain exercised and continue training. I would do best with older kids, as I can be rambunctious and exuberant with play. I am able to live with the current cat and can leave it alone. Do you think I would be the perfect ,be by your side boy, to explore and go on adventures together? I do like to ride in the car now. Mom said something about obedience classes, that sounds like great fun. Apply here to adopt and meet me, I’ll be waiting for you! Wolfs and tail wags, Zeke is fully vetted, on heartworm prevention and flea/tick prevention and neutered,  Zeke is being fostered in the Kansas City area.Click here to watch a video of Zeke.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 25, 2023, 10:29 am
