He was initially a stray in Oklahoma and was transferred to a Kansas City shelter, then to Mo-Kan. Dorito loves his people, is a very active and driven boy, and would likely make a great sport prospect.  He shows great focus, toy drive and a fantastic tug.  He has super fetch abilities and brings the disc right back to your hand.   Dorito enjoys interacting with the other dogs in large playgroups with dogs big and small.  It's unknown how he is with cats, however. Dorito is highly alert on walks and if walking too close to a roadway, may lunge after cars, but is easily redirected. He also can be a leash biter but stops when told. Though he’s good with other dogs in playgroups, he will bark and pull, sometimes lunge towards other dogs when out on a walk. He is very treat and toy motivated, affectionate, driven, friendly, happy-go-lucky, hyper. He does still jump on people and can be mouthy, especially when trying to get you to play with him.  He is neutered, heartworm negative, up-to-date on vaccinations, and on monthly preventatives. Chou Chou is smart, energetic, playful, and VERY good at toy collecting. Balls, discs, sticks -- you name it, he’s in! And yes, he can carry TWO toys at once. Because apparently one just isn’t enough. When playtime is over, this high-energy boy transforms into a total love bug. He loves belly rubs, giving hugs, and keeping your feet warm.  He adores people,  enjoys car rides and has pretty good leash, walking skills! Chou Chou is potty trained, crate trained, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. He’s looking for a breed-savvy, active home where he can be the only dog. Maverick is a sweet, intelligent, playful, and loyal dog who loves his people and enjoys playing, learning, and spending time with those he trusts. He is house-trained, listens well to his owners, and has worked with a professional trainer to help him with his behavioral challenges. Maverick is also a fearful and reactive dog and finding the right environment for him is extremely important. He can become uncomfortable around unfamiliar people, young children, and movement coming toward him. When he is scared or overwhelmed, he may bark, growl, or try to create distance from the situation. Maverick’s family has a young child who is now 1 and becoming increasingly mobile. Because of Maverick’s sensitivity to movement and their home’s limited space, his family has had to keep him and their son separated and carefully manage their interactions. After working with a trainer and exploring different options, they believe Maverick would have a better quality of life in a home that is better suited to his needs. He enjoys car rides, loves playing in the back yard with his red/yellow ball, and puzzle toys (did we mention he’s so smart)?  He is good with other dogs after introductions.  Maverick is up to date on his vaccines and neutered. Maverick’s ideal home: Adult-only home with no young children Someone experienced with fearful or reactive dogs, or willing to work with a trainer on how to manage (he’ll pay you back with all the love! A calm, patient environment Ideally a house with a securely fenced yard for him to run and play Someone willing to continue working with him and give him time to build trust A home where he won’t be constantly exposed to large amounts of foot traffic, unfamiliar people, or overwhelming situations Maverick’s family is being completely transparent about his behavioral needs because their priority is finding him the right home, not simply finding him a home quickly. They love him very much and want to give him the opportunity to thrive in an environment where he feels safe and understood. Maverick’s recall is good and he listens well, but because of his fear and reactivity, his family does not trust him off-leash outside of a securely fenced area. He is a 6-7 month Border Collie/mix, about 30 lbs. Tux was found as a stray at 3 1/2mos, taken to a vet clinic, in rural Kansas. He was adopted to a family with kids but returned because he was too much work. Tux was brought into rescue and absolutely thriving in his foster home. Tux is happy go lucky, loves every human he has encountered, and loves all dogs. He was cat tested in the vet clinic, showing no interest. He LOVES all toys especially squeaky toys, having one close by at all times. He loves bones, will share everything with his foster sister. He loves his foster sister, running and playing chase in the yard. He is fast and athletic, perhaps sports in his future, fly ball or agility?  Tux will retrieve a ball, bring it back for you to throw again. Tux is really a blank slate, might enjoy running, camping, hiking, patio dog for coffee or lunch, family dog. He would thrive as a solo dog, or with a family looking for an addition of another friendly dog. Tux walks well on a leash, has good recall, and learning commands. He is smart and eager to learn. He is treat motivated and attentive to his person, will need confidence building and positive training, and would thrive in an obedience class. He is house trained and kennel trained. Foster mom says he LOVES to cuddle! Couch, chair, your lap, belly rubs, head rubs, he loves all of that. He has a great laid back off switch. Tux is a gem, the whole package as a puppy, new addition to your family. He loves walks, adventures, squeaky toys, and learning new tricks. He already knows sit, down, paw, roll over, crate, place, and spin, and he’s very eager to learn. He also responds quickly to redirection. Maxwell is great on leash and does a wonderful job letting you know when he needs to go outside, he even rings bells! He is crate trained but requires a heavy duty crate because this clever boy is quite the escape artist. He can be a little slow to warm up to new people, so he does best with calm, gradual introductions. He does well with both dogs and cats. Maxwell loves to cuddle, give kisses, and settle in for a good nap once he’s worn himself out. He’s also a bit vocal, and his foster family suspects he may have some Husky hiding in his family tree! Maxwell is a sweet, smart, active boy who would love a family ready to keep him busy, teach him new things, and give him plenty of love. Daisy is a Red Heeler Mix, she weighs between 30 - 40-lbs, do well with other dogs, all people she has met so far however she may need some time to warm up as she has not had a lot of socialization but has been doing well since we have had them. Daisy will need a homes that is familiar with the cattle breed and all the quirks that come with them, these dogs needs lots of exercise and stimulation, they also like to be with their person or their people. They have a tendency to want to herd especially younger kids which is why we suggest older kids unless you are experienced with the breed. Daisy will all be fully vetted including Spay, HW Test, All vaccines including Rabies & Lepto, Dewormed, Placed on Monthly Preventatives as well as Microchipped Daisy will also be attending the Puppies for Parole Training starting on August 28th This is a 8 -10 week training held here at the Moberly Department of Corrections, while there she will learn House Training, Kennel Training, Basic Commands such as Sit, Down, Stay, Recall, Leash Walking and more depending on her quickness to learn new tasks.
