Story
Garth is a delightful 5 month old mixed breed pup, weighing in at 30 pounds. While his exact lineage is a mystery, we suspect he's part australian shepherd, corgi, shepherd, and a touch of husky!   Despite a challenging start in life spent in a cage in an animal hoarder's home, Garth has truly blossomed in his foster home. He's great with dogs of all sizes and loves playing with his chihuahua friends. He would thrive in a home with another confident dog and a fenced yard where he can run and play to his heart's content. While he may be a bit shy around new people initially, given some time and space, he transforms into the biggest lover you'll ever meet. He warmed up quickly to the small children and teenagers in his foster home. Once he knows he can trust you, he's a big cuddler who will melt your heart. He absolutely loves cuddling and napping next to you on the couch.   This goofy boy loves nothing more than playing and running, making him the perfect companion for an active family.  While he's not interested in cats, he does have a tendency to chase chickens, so a chicken-free environment is a must. Garth is crate trained and actually loves spending time in his crate. It is his safe space where he eats all his meals, sleeps through the night and lounges when he needs a little down time. While still young and a bit shy and submissive, Garth is making strides every day with commands, leash walking and going potty outside. Don't miss out on the chance to welcome this lovable pup into your family. if Garth sounds like the perfect fit for you, please fill out an adoption application at www.luckychancerescue.com/adoption-applicationMarch 28, 2024, 12:07 pm

Story
Dolly is a 1 - 2 yr old female Australian Shepherd mix. She has a high energy level, so she would benefit from an active family with a fenced yard and plenty of space for daily exercise and play. She is loose and wiggly when greeting, and likes to sit by her person for snuggles. She also loves to hop up into your lap for hugs and kisses. Dolly walks well on a leash with no pulling. She is food motivated, and knows the commands sit and down. She mixes well with other dogs in a kennel and is indifferent towards cats in the shelter environment. Dogs are generally tested with dogs of their own size; and dog meets with the resident dogs are always encouraged. Our cat test should be used as a general-purpose screening only to rule out overt aggression; we always recommend caution when introducing dogs to cats in the home. Recommendation on suitability of placement with children by their ages is based on behavioral observations including energy level and response to body handling. We never recommend leaving young children unsupervised with dogs, and we cannot guarantee the behavior of dogs with children, other pets, or cats. Behavior evaluations should be considered as a snapshot of the behavior of the dog at this point in time; JHS believes all dog families need to be prepared to invest time and energy into training as well as provide common sense management of their new dog. We always encourage family to do some research on the breeds or mixes of breeds prior to adoption as many can have some unique characteristics that may or may not fit into their families. Always remember that the majority of dogs at our shelter have been exposed to or may have kennel cough. Kennel cough is contagious to other dogs, please talk to your vet if you have any questions about kennel cough prior to adoption. Please ask your adoption counselor at time of adoption if you have any unanswered questions regarding illnesses and treatments of the pet that you are adopting. For more information about this dog or any others at our Shelter, please visit www.joplinhumane.org. We are the Joplin Humane Society in Joplin, Missouri. 417-623-3642. I AM SPONSORED! Thank you Lois Beaver for sponsoring me!

He is loose and wiggly when greeting, and likes to sit by his person for cuddles. He also loves to hop up into your lap for hugs and face kisses. Dogg does moderately pull on a leash, but with basic obedience training, he should be walking like a champ in no time! He is food motivated, but does not yet know any commands. He mixes well with other dogs in a kennel, but is afraid of cats in the shelter environment. Story
Introducing Kylie and Sidney, the 6yo dynamic duo of toy Australian Shepherds who bring joy and warmth wherever they go. Kylie, the outgoing one of the pair, is always the first to greet new friends with her wagging tail and infectious enthusiasm. Sidney, on the other hand, may be a bit more reserved, but her sweet and friendly nature shines through in every interaction. Weighing in at a petite 15 pounds apiece, these two pint-sized pups may be small in stature, but they make up for it with their big hearts and boundless energy. With their playful personalities, they will thrive in a securely fenced yard where they can run and romp to their hearts' content. While they may not be fans of walking on a leash just yet, they are making great strides with their potty training, proving themselves to be quick learners and eager to please. Together, Kylie and Sidney are the perfect pair, reminding us all of the joy that comes from the unconditional love and companionship of our furry friends. These sweet girls are retired breeder dogs who spent their entire life in a kennel raising puppies for money. They are loving life in a real home. They get along fine with dogs their size, they initially bark at big dogs. They are fine with dog savvy cats too. While they are not in a home with children they would likely do fine with older dog respectful children. They are best of friends and will only be adopted together. They are being fostered in St Clair Mo. Their joint adoption fee is $500.
