Story
Blue was born around July 22, 2020 and weighs about 55 pounds.  Blue was found by a local dog control officer and when no one came looking for him we were glad to help.  Blue arrived with extreme hair loss and secondary bacterial infections from flea dermatitis. Blue's skin has completely healed and he has a gorgeous coat of fur in all the best shades of gray and tan!  Blue's toenails were so overgrown that they twisted in on themselves like pretzels.  Even though Blue must have been in significant pain he was wonderful and so sweet for his initial evaluation and nail trim.  Blue has been fine with the other dogs here and rode nicely in the car.  Blue walks ok on a leash but could use a few lessons regarding pulling. We cannot imagine Blue would have issues living with children but maybe older kids just to be on the safe side.  Blue is ready to live his best life with humans who adore him and will take care of his every need from here on out.   He is not a noisy dog which we love and he is fine about being crated.   The Adoption Fee for this dog is $350.00 Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a 'complete' pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.    Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES   We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. Story
Duke was born around June 7, 2024, and might top out in the 30-35 pound range when done filling out. The story goes that a kind woman saved 11 pups from the neighboring Amish after she was told they were going to 'get rid of them' because they had not sold quickly enough.  She got the pups vaccines and microchips and was able to find homes for a couple of them. After a while, she realized she needed help and reached out to us.  He was a bit uncertain what was all happening upon arrival but soon became a happy, playful, little guy that loves life!  They are wonderful with other dogs and enjoy the play and companionship.  They should be fine with children (were with a 5 y/o).  We feel this little family looks Australian Shepherd'ish but they are likely  mixed with several miscellaneous breeds.  He did well on the hour long car ride here. **Please Note: This is a Courtesy Posting. Dog is currently with owner, and they will receive the application. This dog is not the rescues, we are just trying to assist owner find a good home for their dog.** Required: live in Rochester NY area. Meet Rosie! Rosie is a 1 year old Australian Shepherd weighing in around 35 pounds. Rosie is looking for a forever home where she doesn’t have to spend so much time in a crate. She is very high energy, and needs a home with a fenced in yard for her to run around in. She loves to have a ball tossed to her, and just run around and play. Rosie is nervous when first meeting new people, so it will take a little time to warm up. Once she does, she is ready to play! Rosie is still a bit of a puppy (and an Aussie) and she does tend to nip from time-to-time. It is highly recommended that she goes to a home without small children. Rosie currently spends a great deal of time in her crate, and this does not suit her energy needs as an Aussie. She is also still working on her potty training and her leash training as she is considered leash reactive. With this, Rosie will need a patient home who is willing to work with her and train her to become the best dog she can be. To meet with Rosie to see if she might be a good match for your home, an adoption application is required. https://www.cognitoforms.com/New2URescues/AdoptionApplication This dog is a courtesy posting, we are helping the owner find a suitable home for this pup.
