Story
I may be a senior dog, but my heart is as big as they come. I've had quite a journey, and I'm on the lookout for a special person who can understand and appreciate my unique personality. I'll be the first to admit that I'm a bit lazy and goofy, and I love nothing more than lounging around and enjoying the simple pleasures of life. But there's more to me than meets the eye. I have a natural protective instinct, and sometimes I can be a little fearful, which is why I need someone confident and strong to guide me. I've had some training at Dog Tales, and I'm ready to put it into practice with a patient and dedicated owner. I need someone who can provide constant guidance and use the training we've learned on a daily basis. With the right structure and routine, I can flourish. When it comes to meeting new people, I need slow and controlled introductions, and I'll wear a muzzle for everyone's safety. It's not because I'm mean; it's just my way of saying that I need time to feel comfortable and secure. Once I'm comfortable with someone, I'm a whole different dog. I'm affectionate, playful, and fiercely loyal. If you give me the time and space I need to trust you, you'll see just how loving and charming I can be. If you're a confident and experienced dog owner looking for a big-hearted companion who just needs a little extra care and attention, I might be the perfect match for you. Together, we can navigate life's ups and downs and create a bond that's truly special.

FOSTER-TO-ADOPT HOMES NEEDED!! ***Please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form*** We would love to welcome Ava into the Fetch + Releash family July 7th, 2024 (subject to change). In order for Ava to come into our care, we need a committed family. As a foster-to-adopt family, you'll be expected to take her home on her arrival date. You will then have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until her new forever family can be found. Each bio was created by our rescue partners based on their interactions with the dogs. Fetch + Releash has a full disclosure policy however we cannot guarantee a dog against parasites or diseases, nor can we guarantee a dog's nature/behaviour. Many of these dogs are coming directly from the shelter and so you should expect there to be a transitional period. Be prepared to deal with common issues like potty training, leash walking, and socialization. Cat and kid safety assessments are often based on their personality and not necessarily on actual interactions. Where possible, the majority of vetting will be completed prior to coming to Canada, however, foster-to-adopt families may be required to travel to our partner vet in Mississauga, ON for further vet care. During your foster-to-adopt trial, you'll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have. Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee and sign our foster-to-adopt waiver in advance. If you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family provided you see your pup through to adoption. If you choose not to see your dog through to adoption, you will forfeit your deposit. Foster-to-adopt families will be expected to provide their own supplies. Visit https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ava / Female / 1 year / 25 pounds / Australian Shepherd Mix / from Tennessee Ava's journey started when she fell into the care of our partner at a tender 14 weeks of age. Despite her undeniable charm, she's been overlooked by local rescue partners, so now we're stepping in to make sure this loving girl finds her forever home. Since Ava has spent the majority of her young life in rescue, she hasn't had the opportunity for training. But she's a true blank slate, ready for someone committed to guiding her through the basics and beyond. As a bundle of energy, she's the epitome of a playful pup, and she thrives on both physical and mental stimulation. Multiple daily walks and engaging doggy enrichment activities are key to keeping her happy and content. Potty training, crate training and proper leash walking will only be the start of Ava's training. Play-based training will help build a strong bond as well as an obedient and loyal companion. Ava's heart is drawn to the water, and she finds pure joy in playing with a hose. A dream come true for her would be a new life near a lake or joining a family with a cottage where she can splash and play to her heart's content. She's currently living alongside an older dog and has learned much from her wise companion. Ava would thrive in a home with an older, balanced dog to show her the ropes and share the joy of everyday life. She may be a busy girl at times but is able to find calm and enjoy cuddles with her family. Ava is adaptable and can fit into any type of living situation, as long as her exercise and mental stimulation needs are met. She's an outgoing and happy girl, always ready to brighten your day with her infectious enthusiasm and affection. Although she has not been tested with kids her temperament suggests she would get along well with dog-savvy children. Are you ready to let this burst of joy become the light of your life?! Ava is ready to be your loyal companion, bringing happiness and love to your days. As a condition of the adoption contract, Ava’s new family will be required to attend and complete a basic obedience class at their own cost (proof required). If you’re interested in fostering with the intention of adopting, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Ava's adoption fee is $900. To learn more about our adoption fees and the foster-to-adopt process, please visit our FAQs at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/about-us#about-faqs.

Story
Hello! My name is Mabel!I'm a sweet girl who loves to go for walks and run around! I can be an anxious girl so I'm eager to join a home that can provide me with great stability, a consistent routine, a gentle training approach, and lots of snuggles and walks!MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES...CHILDREN: Teenagers may be ok but no young children as I can be nervous and have never been around them.OTHER DOGS: Potentially, with a very easy-going, relaxed dog, as I seem to be pretty fearful upon first meeting a new dog.CATS: Yes, I've lived with and done well with cats.FIRST-TIME DOG OWNERS: No, I would do best with someone who has dog experience. FENCED-IN YARD: Recommended.HOUSING ENVIRONMENT: No apartment buildings as tight spaces, like hallways, can cause me to feel more nervous around strangers or dogs. SOMEONE HOME MOST OF THE DAY: Not necessarily, but I would prefer to not be left for a full work day.SOME OTHER THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME...ACTIVITY LEVEL: Medium.I'M ON A PRESCRIPTION DIET: No. HOUSE-TRAINED: Yes.If you think I could be a good match for your home, click the "adopt me" button to apply!
