Story
Hi there, I'm Burgermeister! I'm young, sweet, and a bit shy. I love cuddling and playing, but I'm also very gentle. I might take a little while to come out of my shell, but once I do, I promise to be your loyal friend. I've been told I would do well with another dog in the home, a buddy to help me feel more comfortable. I'm learning to trust and every day is a new adventure for me. I'm hoping to find a family who can be patient with me, who can show me that the world isn't such a scary place. I promise to repay your kindness with endless love and loyalty. Adopt me and let's start our adventure together! Primary Color: Brown Secondary Color: White Weight: 21.6 Age: 0yrs 11mths 1wks

Story
*This dog is scheduled to arrive in Grimsby, Ontario on Saturday, June 28*Apply to adopt at rebeldogrescue.com*All adoptions with Rebel Dog Rescue have a 15 day probation period. Read about our adoption process on our website. Meet Nova, a sweet, curious, brave, and smart canine companion! While she may be a little shy at first and likes to take her time getting to know new people, Nova has a truly gentle soul. Once she feels comfortable, her loyalty shines through, and she forms deep bonds with her loved ones.Nova has a mellow temperament, making her an ideal addition to a calm home. Although she is an independent dog who appreciates her own space, she also loves to share moments of affection and companionship. She's a brave explorer with a smart and thoughtful approach to new things.Nova's gentle spirit speaks to her resilience, and her loyalty reflects her loving heart. Consider adopting Nova not just because she needs a home, but because she can bring a unique and wonderful blend of love, loyalty, and joy to your life.Name: Nova Breed: Australian Shep mix Age: ~5 years Weight: ~40lbSex: Female, spayed Colour: Tri-colour Medical: No concerns Good with men: Yes, but shy and warms up quicklyGood with women: Yes, but shy and warms up quicklyGood with kids 0-6: yes, but prefer older due to shyness Good with kids 7-15: yesWhen the dog meets new people she: Approaches cautiously, Approaches in a neutral manner, Shy, Does not want to interact at first, but warms up, Tail tuckedGood with dogs: Yes, happy to co-exist with other dogsHow does this dog react to meeting new dogs? Neutral - will say hello nicelyWhat type(s) of dogs does this dog prefer/be best with? Nova has mostly been around calmer dogs and has done well. I haven't seen her around large or super high energy dogs, but she would likely do fine with large breeds if they are a bit older.Good with Cats: Unknown, not testedCrate training: Enters crate willingly, Settles quickly and quietlyHouse trained: 75% Resource Guarding: None seenWalks on a leash: Walks well, Nervous and needs coaxing. Before she came to us, she had never experienced any 'normal' dog activities. She never wore a collar or walked on a leash, so when she first arrived, it took a lot of treats and patience to help her walk while on leash. She does much better now as staff has worked with her daily to practice leash walks.Energy level: Medium Areas to work on: Needs confidence building. Nova would probably benefit from some extra socialization practice, as she hasn't experience much (or anything) outside of the house she came from. She is very sweet and has shown willingness to try new things, but just needs patience. What type of environments would NOT be suitable for the dog? Busy downtown lifeAny noted separation anxiety? None that we have seen.Barker: Average What would be the ideal home for this dog?The ideal home for Nova would be somewhere with a yard for her to sunbathe and sniff, or somewhere that her new family can take her on nice walks each day. She would do well with a calm dog, or even older kids to play with. She is very sweet and adaptable to new environments. I just wouldn't recommend a busy city life for her, as that may be too much movement and noise for her to take on at this time.

Story
Raiden is a 6.5 year old dog that loves to snuggle. He is very affectionate and great with kids. He is calm but still loves to go for runs and walks. He is more used to off-leash walks but usually likes to stay close by. We would like to re-home him with his sister, Kokanee. https://www.adoptapet.com/pet/44614820-gloucester-ontario-border-collie

Story
Name, age, breed: Pirate, 3yrs, Australian ShepherdLikes: Going for walks, playing with tennis ballsDislikes: Being overwhelmed, changes in environment, being aloneWhat would be the ideal home? Pirate would do best in a home with an experienced owner who is familiar with his breed. He would like an adult only home, with no small animals. No apartments due to breed. Good with other cats? NoGood with dogs? Yes, if given a proper/slow introduction. Would do best in a home with another dog he can bond with.Good with children? NoTemperament: Friendly, activeMotivators? Treats, kibbleAny commands? SitHouse trained? UnknownCrate trained? Unknown, couldn`t benefit from a slow introduction to the crate due to already existing separation anxiety. How long will it take to settle into a new environment? 3-3-3 rule: First 3 days - Your dog may be overwhelmed and may hide, have a lack of appetite, or test boundaries. Give them space and time to adjust in a quiet room with their bed, food, water, and toys. 3 weeks - Your dog may start to settle in and their personality will emerge. You can expect behavior issues to arise, so set boundaries and expectations with positive reinforcement training. 3 months - Your dog should be comfortable and acclimated to your home. They should know their routine and expect meals and enrichment at specific times.Any special needs or traits an adopter should know? Pirate is a special needs boy, who could benefit from breed/disability specific training. While in the shelter, he is currently working on his leash manners and other commands. Medical: Blind, deaf, previous eye removal, on anxiety medication, history of 1 seizure (possible previous head trauma before arrival at shelter, hasn`t had any since), Lyme & Anaplasma positive If you think Pirate is the one for you - fill out an application today!
