Story
Meet Freya! She had her puppies April 10, 2025. The puppies will be a mix of Lab and Australian shepherd! Freya will be nursing her puppies until they are 8 weeks old, so she won't be able to go home until then. However, you can come meet her and adopt her at any time! You can pick her up once the puppies reach 8 weeks of age. The adoption fee for this Australian shepherd mix is $295. Adoption fee includes first vaccines, deworming, started on heartworm meds, spay or neuter, vet check, microchip. Our adoption fees are higher on the designed breeds to help offset costs for sick or injured pets. All funds go to helping pets. To meet one of our adoptable pets or to start the adoption process, please access the adoption application on our website, www.crossroadsanimalrescue.org or download and email it to crossroadsanimalrescuesc@gmail.com. We will then approve you (sending in the application does not obligate you to adopt) and we can set up a time for you to meet one or more of our pets. You can then pay the adoption fee and officially adopt after meeting your new family member. Alternatively, you can do the adoption over the phone before meeting your new pet. The benefit to this is that we will hold the pet for you. However, the adoption fee is non-refundable if you changed your mind after adopting over the phone. Most of our pets are obtained from animal control and therefore we are not certain of their breed or breed mix. We list breed mixes that they most resemble or that their former owners said they were. However, we don't make any guarantees about breed - it is a best guess! Our adoption fees include the spay/neuter surgery, deworming, vet exam, and up to date vaccines. It also includes microchipping as well as heartworm testing or feline leukemia testing. We are happy to adopt out-of-state (and even out of the country!) but transportation for the adopted pet is the responsibility of the new pet owner. If you cannot adopt a pet at this time but would like to support our rescue, please click on the "Sponsor a Pet" button. Your donation will help feed the dogs, cats, small animals, and horses at CARE. Please email at crossroadsanimalrescuesc@gmail.com or call us at (864)972-9906 for more information. This phone number will reach Crossroads Animal Hospital, which is the home of CARE. During business hours, a receptionist will be able to speak with you regarding our adoptable pets. After business hours, the only way to contact CARE is via email. Our puppies and kittens are also eligible for 10% off the rest of the vaccines in their puppy/kitten vaccination series at Crossroads Animal Hospital. Most adult pets are spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Puppies and kittens may have the surgery before adoption or we may have new owners return later for the surgery. For more information about CARE and to see our adoption application, go to our website, www.crossroadsanimalrescue.org

Story
We got Maggie when she was 17 weeks old. I took her to the vet, she was up to date on her vaccines and on heartworm and flea prevention until August of this year, 2025. She had to hsve a complete hysterectomy when she was spayed. She was 36 lbs at the vet appointment. She is very smart and likes doing tricks for her treats. She does well inside. I have a spinal cord injury, and can't take her for runs like she needs and she goes out of the yard and I don't want her to get hit by a car or the neighbor on one side of us to shoot her. She loves the kids and has always been gentle even when they step on her by accident. She loves to play, but can be protective of her food if children mess with her when eating. She turned 4 Oct 18.

Story
Meet Bella, a bouncy, lovable gal who is eager to play and shower you with affection. Bella needs another dog to hang with, and highly preferable that that dog also likes to run and play. Bella is working on leash manners and is eager to please. She is crate trained and well in the car and with Kids. She has never met a stranger and loves to go on adventures. She has done well with dog savvy cats and does not have any issue with smaller dogs and does not seem to have prey drive.

Story
Perfect! Perfect! Perfect! That's the one word that describes Hazelnut in a nutshell. Hazelnut, Hazel or Hazzy (so many names for such a little dog) is a 1 year old australian shepherd/hound mix who is full grown at 42 pounds. As with many of our dogs, Hazel came to us from an overcrowded shelter, picked up as a stray by animal control. We don't know her exact background but everyone who meets her knows she is a charmer. She's still a puppy with all the puppy antics and playfulness but past all the chewing and destruction that comes with being a puppy. Hazel is calm, walks well on a leash, is house broken, gets along great with other dogs and cats, has all her shots, is heart-worm negative and spayed.  All she needs is a new home & family to call her own.  Come meet Hazelnut and you'll fall in love immediately. We did! Puppies and Dogs are spayed or neutered, Heartworm negative, microchipped, appropriately vaccinated, and treated for parasites. They are available to inside only homes where they will be part of the family. Applications to adopt can be found at harthumane.org. Our adoption fees include the spay/neuter surgery, deworming, vet exam, and up to date vaccines. It also includes microchipping as well as heartworm testing. If you cannot adopt a pet at this time but would like to support our rescue, donations can be mailed to Hart County Humane Society P.O. BOX 1062 Hartwell GA. 30643 or online at harthumane.org. The Hart County Humane Society is an all-volunteer rescue, we receive no government funding and rely on donations to fund our lifesaving programs. ##2597850##

Story
Welcome Sunflower, aka Sunny. This little girl is a breath of fresh air. Full grown at only 40 lbs, Sunny is the perfect size or apartment dwellers, renters and home owners alike. Unfortunately, Sunflower was an owner surrender to an over-crowded animal shelter. There she sat for several months with very little interest before she came to the Humane Soceity. Here she is loved by everyone for her outgoing, playful personality. She loves to play with toys and will chase a ball for hours. She loves other dogs and and cats, children and all adults. She would do great in an active home with other animals and children. Sunflower appears to be housebroken, walks well on a leash, is spayed and curent on all vaccines and heart worm.  Come meet Sunflower and fall in love . We did!
