Can everyone please share Thea. We are starting the search for her forever people. Thea is an 11 month old exotic bully girl. She was born with a deformed front paw and swimmer back legs (google if unfamiliar). Unfortunately her breeders didn’t know what that was and she wasn’t treated. She has had a LOOOOONG road of learning how to get her back legs working. When she came to us, she was fully splayed out and just army crawled with her front legs and drug herself along. She now has almost full usage of her back legs. She will never fully walk normal but we don’t want to amputate her front paw because even though it’s deformed, she uses it for balance and she needs it! Thea is a stunning lilac lady with the most gorgeous eyes. She gets around quite well but obviously won’t be going on any long walks lol. She LOVES other dogs and would do best with a fur sibling. She does try and chase cats, so either a no cat house or a dog saavy cat house. She obviously can’t get anywhere quickly so as long as the cat is smart, they can avoid her easily🤷🏻‍♀️🤣 Thea loves All humans and wants nothing more than to Netflix and chill with you all day. She loves sunbathing outside as well. She does best on carpet but can get around on harder surfaces. She can book it on carpet though! She can do a few stairs outside but anything more and you’ll need to help her, which she is totally fine with. Thea is a special lady who needs special pawrents to see passed her disability and see how amazing and sweet and gorgeous she is!! If you want an actual potato who will shower you with love, and you have some muscle power to help a 50 is pound land hippo, Thea is your lady!!! She will be spayed, utd on all shots and chipped.

Story
Bear is a fun-loving, energetic English Bulldog (born 2023) who loves a good game of fetch and responds well to training—especially if snacks are involved! He’s smart, spirited, and will thrive in a structured home with firm, but loving boundaries. If left to his own devices, he may get into a bit of mischief (chewing), so he needs someone who can keep him active and engaged. Travel isn’t an issue - Bear rides great in the car. He needs continued work on leash manners. Great with men, women, and kids 10+ No apartments, please – he needs more space and fewer shared walls due to noise sensitivity and dog proximity Struggles with seasonal allergies, typically managed with Zyrtec or the occasional allergy shot.  He also takes medication for behavior support. A trusted trainer has even created a guide full of helpful tools to set Bear up for success - those resources will be shared with any interested adopter! The suggested adoption donation for Bear is $400, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.   Please Note:  A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we only assist the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue, and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.   To learn about Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc. ##2383673##

Story
Porkchop BIO –   Porkchop is a Chubaliscious character with an abundance of joy that will come tumbling into your home.  Porkchop (AKA Chubs) has no problems verbally telling someone he has needs which usually consist of going outside, obtaining some love, or playing with a toy.  Don’t worry about finding the right toy in his toybox, he will find it and bring it to you.  His favorite game is tug, so his furever family will want to be practicing that if they think they’re going to win.  Porkchop is quite passionate about the tug of war and will make a lot of sound that might sound scary but is all part of the game.   Porkchop is a strong-willed boy who has been used to being the one and only king of his castle, so has a little trouble understanding boundaries and will need to be introduced slowly to fur friends.  Despite some of his rambunctious qualities, Porkchop loves a good snuggle and his preferred activity is quality testing furniture.  Porkchop sleeps very soundly and occasionally has accidents in his sleep.  Added protection for his favorite sleeping spot would be recommended.  His foster says a late-night potty walk combined with an early morning wake up call has had the most success avoiding these accidents. ##2278240##

Story
Norah is the sweetest pup! Her demeanor and personality are that of a playful, happy go lucky dog. She loves car rides, playing with her people and all the attention. She has a cute way of pawing at you when she wants your eyes on her or just simply pets. She is super easy as far as listening and obeying goes. She responds to kennel up, stop, no, sit, shake and lay down (especially for treats! and she loves Dentasticks!). She sleep and snores through the day and requires a couple stints of play time through the day, twice for 20 minutes or so, especially in the evening. She is ready for bed by 9pm and will snore the night away! She is a great addition to any household as she loves everyone, as long as they give her plenty of attention! She is a loving, snuggly, all around perfect pet! ##2161123##

Story
Finn definitely likes to be one of the guys and seems to gravitate to males before females.  We know he shouldn't have small kids in his life--the loud, in your face squeals and pets aren't up his alley.  We'll keep you all in the know as he settles into his foster home!  In the meantime, he heads to the vet on 7/24 for his neuter and chip placement.  We're hoping this will help with his marking! April update: Finn is almost 5 but still has plenty of puppy!  He loves to play tug and fetch and will still chew on a bone.  He is a good boy and knows what is a toy and what is not (most of the time).  He is good on a leash and LOVES to go on walks around the neighborhood.  When other dogs bark at him he keeps his cool, and has been cordial when meeting the few that cross his path.  He is very food motivated and loves getting all the goodies from his treat puzzles.  Finn is very healthy with some minor allergies/itchy ears that are easy to take care of.  He prefers being with people but does OK on his own for long periods of time.  He freely roams the house and behaves pretty well (no going through the garbage, chewing on shoes, etc).  He does not mark around the house, but if he’s in a new place for the first time with dog smells he will probably want to claim his territory, so belly bands are a good idea in the beginning.   ##2121346##

Story
Coco is a shy girl who is looking to gain confidence in the world around her after a "ruff" start in life.  She was adopted from a shelter elsewhere as a reported mill/breeder release.  She's the most gentle peanut who loves nothing more than to sit on the oversized bean bag or couch and receive little pets.  Coco requires patience from her adoptive family as she learns to acclimate to a new situation--this may include needing to bed fed in her safe spot initially or walked on leash to the yard to take care of business.  She'll need older kids or school-aged kiddos who fall on the less excitable side of the scale. Coco tolerates her cares well and seems to enjoy her brief walks in the neighborhood.  She's just a bit fluffy so is on a late summer diet plan with encouragment from her amazing foster family.  We don't yet know much about how she feels about other dogs (indifferent at the vet) and doesn't seem interested in the resident cats in her foster home. ##2161127##

Story
Jules, a Bull Terrier born in June 2018, is on the search for a compassionate family that she can connect with. She thrives on attention, exercise, and affection, longing for a home that can meet her needs with love and dedication. Working closely with her trainer, Jules has mastered the art of remaining calm and redirecting herself when excitement peaks, marking impressive strides in her development. Reveling in cuddles, belly rubs, and playful sessions of fetch, Jules is discovering the joys of companionship and play. Embracing a structured routine has been key for Jules, providing her with a sense of stability and confidence in her daily life. She needs a little time to adjust to new stimuli, but offering her a secure environment with a consistent schedule will help her flourish. Jules prefers being the sole pet so her people can focus on her needs exclusively, offering support, routine, and encouragement to help her thrive and feel content. Before applying to adopt Jules, you need to be familiar with your local breed-specific legislation regarding Bull Terriers. Applicants must live within 50 miles of the Omaha/Council Bluffs area so can work with our free trainers, or must be willing to pay for own positive reinforcement trainer to work with Jules. The suggested adoption donation for Jules is $215. We are a 501c3 organization which means that your donation may be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Your donation goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our animals in rescue, as well as providing supportive services to animals in homes.  Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.  If this pet is not spayed or neutered at the time of adoption due to limited vetting availability, a voucher will be given to the adopter for a free spay/neuter procedure at Val Verde Animal Hospital. Spay/neuters completed elsewhere will be reimbursed $80/dog or $55/cat once proof of alteration has been received by Muddy Paws. Alterations are required for all Muddy Paws adoptions. The adoption contract states alters must be done within ONE month of the adoption date or the adopter will be in breach of the contract. Adopters are required to provide proof of alteration to Muddy Paws Rescue immediately following the procedure. Thank you in advance for your compliance.
