Story
Sasha, the reigning monarch of her foster castle, is a six-year-old English Bulldog with a heart as big as her adorable wrinkles. In her ideal home, she would prefer to assert her regal status as the one and only fur child. Sasha, having grown up in the presence of kiddos, exudes a gentle and amiable demeanor, making her a delightful companion for families with older kiddos. This bulldog queen is not just about regality; she's a playful soul who revels in the joy of games and companionship, especially with adults.  Sharing food or toys are not her strong suit so small children won't fit into her perfect royal court.  Sasha is clear about her preferences. Despite her love for play, she staunchly opposes the idea of donning costumes. Her royal attire is her natural coat, adorned with the charm of her unique bulldog features. In the vast expanse of her backyard kingdom, Sasha assumes the role of a distinguished grazer, exhibiting a talent that could rival that of a goat. Her leisurely grazing adds a touch of charm to the royal landscape, creating a picturesque scene though leads to a bit of a joker-like mess with clean up later. Sasha's journey to health has been marked by resilience and care. She has undergone soft palate surgery and had her saccules removed, emerging from these medical interventions remarkably healthy. Her well-being is a testament to the attentive care she receives in her temporary castle. As the queen of her realm, Sasha invites those who would appreciate her royal presence to share in the joy of her company. Her castle should be a haven of love, playfulness, and, of course, the regal charm that only a bulldog like Sasha can bring.--Interested adopters would need to travel to the Omaha area with family members including furry friends to meet Sasha.  Her adoption fee is set at $300. ##1952489##

Story
Once upon a time in a cozy little town, there was a big, ol' love bug named Maximus. Maximus wasn't always living the good life. He used to be in a nearby shelter, dreaming of soft beds and snuggly blankets. But one day, a kind family decided to bring Maximus home as a foster. He quickly adapted to the cushy life of a 70lb lap dog. Oh, what a lucky pup he is! Maximus has a few quirks, though. His left eye doesn't produce any tears, and is being treated for an infection. The vet said he might have limited vision in that eye. But fear not, because his right eye is a tear-producing superstar! There were also tales of Maximus having multiple, chronic ear infections in the past. His ear canals are quite tight, and he needs some special care. His foster mom is on the case, keeping a close eye on those ears and giving them regular cleanings. Maximus, being a white bulldog, had a unique superpower – he is deaf, but he wasn't letting that stop him. With his foster family, he's learning the magical language of signs. Now, let's talk about some bulldog maintenance secrets. Maximus has a wrinkle infection that needed some clearing up. His foster mom saves the day again with magical potions and making sure he gets occasional tushie wipes to keep everything clean and shiny. Maximus has some random skin tags and growths that his friends fondly called his decorations. No worries, though – the experts weren't concerned. Maximus is a social butterfly too! He gets along great with bulldogs, Frenchies, Boston/English mixes, and even a cool cat in his foster home. His size means his forever family needs to be a little careful, especially if there are smaller kiddos around who could accidentally be toppled over by this big, ol' handsome boy. Maximus is looking for the purrfect family to help him live happily ever after, surrounded by love, warmth, and a bunch of friends. ##1952595##

Story
Where do we even start with Harvey’s story? How about where it all began: out in rural Nebraska where he was found wandering late last summer. The beautiful people who found him couldn’t bear the thought of leaving him there, looking so very sad (see one of his very first pictures with them on the left). Though they already had four dogs, they knew he desperately needed help. Tincture of time, some trips to the vet (no chip), TLC and good food bring you to the Harvey in January (top right). When they initially reached out to us, they were unsure if he was deaf or just had tight canals from untreated infections. They mentioned he seemed to be blind in one eye (it has a sunken appearance) and the vet wondered if the damage had been caused by a beating. They got him from emaciated stray to the 60lb comfy as a clam pup you see in the final picture in his foster home. Harvey resource guards his food; we can’t fault him for that given how VERY skinny he was. Harvey recently began having seizures. His initial bloodwork at there vet looked ok but we have a lot of work to do with PAH to see if we can narrow down the root cause: head trauma? Lab abnormality? Epilepsy? More to come as he settles in with experienced fosters and meets the team at Papillion Animal Hospital. For now, we are grateful to the dog lovers who found him, nourished his belly and his spirits and then directed him to The Good Life! 3/13/24: Harvey is the sweetest gentleman that just wants to hang out. He is more than content making sure furniture doesn't run away. Hes an older guy who is just content relaxing with people or enjoying a nice calm hang. He enjoys walks or wandering the back yard to get fresh air and all the smells. He is by far the most mild mannered bully I have ever come across. Never worked up and just doesnt care. However, you get a big energy perk the moment he sees you grab his food bowl or hears the bag open. Just fine with all dogs and animals, usually just ignores them and finds his comfy spot. ##1969128##

Story
Once upon a time, in a cozy cottage nestled amidst emerald meadows and fragrant blossoms, there lived a spirited young bulldog named Drake. With his bright white coat and eyes that twinkled with mischief, Drake was a bundle of joy just over two years old. Drake's enthusiasm bubbled over like a playful brook, filling the air with joy wherever he roamed. His long legs carry him on adventures both grand and small, and he has a peculiar penchant for perching atop the most unlikely places, like a noble flower adorning a royal table. Though mischievous, Drake is a well-mannered lad. He is potty-trained and adores the laughter of children, though his exuberance ,may sometimes lead to accidental tumbles and giggles.  But Drake has his quirks, like any noble creature. He is selective in his friendships, wary of those who match his own size or larger. Each potential companion will be carefully considered. Alas, Drake's joy has not been tempered by a significant hearing loss. His foster family showers him with love, ensuring he never feels alone in his nearly silent world. Drake's allergies are an annoyance which plague many a bulldog. His sensitive neck required gentle care, but Drake handles it all with stoic grace. Amidst life's challenges, Drake finds solace in one thing: play. He adores chasing after balls of all shapes and sizes, his bum wagging with delight as he frolicks. When the day's adventures are done, Drake finds comfort in the warmth of a two-legged friend's embrace, snuggled up on the couch for a well-deserved nap. ##1982993##

BeeBop

English Bulldog

Female, 4 yrs 6 mos

Size

Good with dogs, Good with cats, Needs special attention, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Beebop (b. 9/2019) was transferred to Muddy Paws from a local shelter, where she had been placed in the after-hours kennels with a note.  The note explained that she had been removed from a terrible situation where she was severely beaten, starved, and otherwise abused.  She was also deaf.  It went on to say that they thought she had suffered brain damage from past injuries.  After the initial exam, the shelter staff contacted Muddy Paws to see if we could take her due to her needing more intensive long-term help than they were able to accommodate. BeeBop is a sassy girl who loves to be by her person.  She is alright with other dogs, but because of her "odd" behaviors, a gentle, well-socialized dog would work best.  No children because she really doesn't like a lot of physical contact and gets nippy on occasion. BeeBop also demonstrates behavior that we refer to as Obsessive Compulsive.  She sometimes will get in behavioral "loops" where she will run around the house, turning an occasional circle and hitting her nose on the ground.  These patterns of behavior are easily broken when she gets redirected by a chewy treat, a toy, or just flashing a flashlight at her feet to break her concentration.  These episodes have gotten much fewer and farther between with behavior modification and medications, and she no longer bangs her head unless she is very frustrated.  Beebop loves to go outside and run, or run in the house.  She does sometimes barks when running, so would not do well in an apartment. In spite of all BeeBop's challenges, she is an amazing dog!  She is smart and is learning sign language.  She knows "potty", "treat", "no",  and "kennel" just to name a few.  She is potty trained when let out, but won't tell you when she has to go.  She is good in a kennel and enjoys treats and a good meal.  BeeBop does not know how loud she is so when she is mad, or having fun, she has the loudest noises come out of her that can only be described as a bark/chirp/scream.  Need we say that apartment life would just not be her cup of tea?  We don't think so. So with all that said, BeeBop would do great in a home that is willing to work with her to help her find her best life.   Muddy Paws is looking for potential fosters OR adopters for this girl. The suggested adoption donation for Beebop is $215. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization which means that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals.  In 2020 alone, we were able to provide animal Healthcare costing over $241,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.
