Story
Senior dogs need love too! Meet Farley, he was found by a nice person and made sure he got to the shelter. Farley is a friendly guy, that would prefer a warm cozy bed. He likes a slower pace to walks and treats are a must for Farley. The nice things about adopting a senior dog is, they already know what to do. Farley would love to lay at your feet or on the couch, if you allow it and watch television. Just give him the occasional pet and treats. He attends playgroups and needs to meet any potential dogs prior to going home. Our staff has determined that Farley needs a home with no male dogs. Our staff can assist with any dog introductions. Will you be Farley's hero? Come meet him today!

Story
This is Moose. We adopted him off Craigslist and unfortunately the information we were given was false. We took him in thinking he would be good with kids, dogs and cats. When we brought him home, he was not good with any of them. He hates our cats, harasses our other dogs and , our kids are scared of him because he gets in their face. We were also told he was potty trained but he is not. He has a dominance issue even after being neutered and pees and poops in our females kennels. Besides that he just poops and pees wherever he pleases. Moose is a sweet dog that needs a lot of work. He is not violent and would probably benefit most by being a single dog in a family that can give him a lot of attention and training.

Story
Introducing Foster Topsy, a heartwarming 10.5-year-old bulldog who's an absolute snuggle bug! Topsy's journey brought her to KCEBR, where she arrived as a neglected sweetheart. She had struggled with bad skin, minimal fur, goopy eyes, and the weight of fear. Despite her challenges, she radiates resilience and love. Topsy's vision may be impaired, but her ability to love knows no bounds. Although she might not always locate your exact position, her keen sense of hearing lets her tune into your presence. Navigating her surroundings, both indoors and within her enclosed yard, is a breeze for this spirited bulldog. And you won't believe it, but Topsy has taken to galloping down the hall! When it comes to her preferences, Topsy has a penchant for vegetables - a healthy choice that shows her unique taste. But that's not all. She adores nothing more than catching up on her beauty sleep and soothing herself by sucking on fuzzy blankets. Living harmoniously with a pack of two Bulldogs and two Labradors, Topsy fits right in. Her life has transformed under the caring wings of KCEBR, and the future holds nothing but pure, unconditional love for this special soul. Thank you, KCEBR, for ensuring that the rest of Topsy's days are brimming with warmth and affection.

These pups are in Raytown, Missouri too!

Story
Everyone’s always talking about work-life balance. Well, we wanna talk about dog-life balance. Kanga has that dog-life balance that we’re all striving for: she plays hard and does playtime up right, whether it’s with other dogs or people. She likes to play outside, and she likes to play inside, or wherever the good toys are. After that, she’ll find herself a quiet spot to snuggle up and catch some zzz’s and watch the world go by. In between, she’ll be a goofball and make you smile, and she’ll also let you dress her up and make your own fun. See what we mean about dog-life balance? Playing, snoozing, goofing around: She has it all, except for a place to call home. Kanga is a three-year-old, 55-lb. brindle beauty who wants to be forever your girl. She knows some basic commands and is house trained and crate trained. She’s a little shy for a few minutes, but she will make herself right at home and will be such good company. If you’re interested in adopting or fostering Kanga, please call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387. Kanga is in the Kansas City metro, but transport to the right home is available! #thepetconnection

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Virginia (virginiak@tarasdream.org) for more information about this pet. Email T.A.R.A. | T.A.R.A.'s Web Site | On-Line Application    Get ready to welcome home your forever best friend and most loyal protector! Brute is looking for a home that has loving adults and other furry friends, but no little kids (he is nervous around kiddos). He is the biggest sweetheart you will ever meet and loves all adventures from traveling the country, to playing in the dog park, to hiking, to snuggling on the couch for a movie night in! When you’re sick, Brute will snuggle with you and make sure you feel better quick! He takes a minute to warm up to new people, but he loves treats to smooth the transition! Also, he does not like his ears to be messed with (I mean who does, right?)! His tail is a huge tell concerning his comfort level. If it’s wagging, he’s good!:) Also, he will warn you of intruders, once when someone stole a bike off my front porch, Brute warned me by barking very loudly at the front door! Also, Brute is the best brewery, winery, or coffee shop companion! He will sit quietly by your side and be your silent companion (of course sneaking in a pet now and then – but he will not bark at other dogs passing). Some of Brute’s favorite things to do include going to the dog park (Brute never met a furry friend he did not love….though some cats were not so sure about Brute), get pup cups from local coffee shops and Andy’s Frozen Custard, go for car rides, explore new states (sniffing is his favorite hobby), and most importantly snuggles (on the couch and bed, because mom loves to snuggle)!! Brute is a couch potato at heart and Saturday mornings his favorite thing to do is sleep in, snuggle and watch a cartoon, and then go on a long walk to a coffee shop (pup cup included is his favorite). Brute is the most loyal companion you will ever know, and all he asks in return is lots of love! He is a protector, but as long as he knows his family trusts a new comer to the home, he is perfectly happy welcoming new friends. Likes/Loves: Treats, Dropped food on the floor, sunbathing, dog parks – he loves all dogs & has many furry friends (he was a great big brother when I fostered a puppy for a short time), and greeting mom everytime she comes home – he will be your best friend and loyal protector Dislikes: Blow Up Yard Décor (he will bark at it like it will attack you if you’re not careful), Being left at the border, Being sprayed with water from a hose, and Elevators (the glass one he had to ride up to mom’s apartment when I first fostered him was the worst) Notes: To Brute’s next forever home, I will send his bed, his jacket, his monthly simparica and heartworm medicine, leash/color, and other miscellaneous items that are his.:) If you have any questions about Brute reach out to his current mom (Maggie Donoho – 913-674-6208) anytime! Approximate Birthdate:  3/2018 Adoption Fee: Brute's adoption is sponsored by a generous donor! TARA's adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test (if age appropriate), heartworm and flea prevention, and deworming.  TARA's pets are all eligible for a two week trial . Due to the fact that many of our dogs come from the local city shelters, we do not know the background of many of them and therefore cannot always guarantee age or breed.  Size is subjective but we use the following guidelines: Small 1-20 pounds, Med 20-50 pounds, Large 50-80 pounds, Extra Large over 80 pounds.   For more information please fill out an APPLICATION Please visit our EVENTS PAGE for information about our upcoming adoption events.
