Story
Just looking for a home to call my own, so I can rest, relax, and enjoy life!! Look at this kissable little face, and those gorgeous brown, heart-stealing eyes!!! Guess what, he’s available for adoption and here are a few more things about him:
Name: Duke, aka Scooby Du and he is modest size 20 inches high and ~40lbs. Hobbies: Stealing treats. Stealing hearts, both human and other animals. Playing with foster mom’s kitties and other dogs. Zooming in back yard. Getting head to toe massages and brushings. Talents: Giving kisses and snuggles; learning new things very quickly if treats are involved; walking well on leash; listening to foster mommy and learning from foster fur-sisters and brothers; melting hearts with those heart-melting, baby dog eyes
Duke is a delightful pup ready for his new home! He’s animal and people-friendly, mixing well in his foster mom’s multi-animal home. He’s never met a stranger and is always up for some fun. His energy level is good but not crazy and a good walk (40-45 minutes) with some zooming and play in back yard a couple of times a day will get him ready to snuggle with you and go to sleep. Scooby Du has shown some signs of separation anxiety and so far, is responding well to efforts to address that. He will need someone who is patient and knows how to continue working with him on that as well as a confident, kind fur-sibling who can help him know he’s safe. He sits on command and is learning to stay and come when called. He is reliably house-trained. His foster mom is working with him on crate training, and he is beginning to sleep in his crate quietly at night.
1) Duke is super dog friendly and loves to play and learn from them!! He's learned a lot from his favorite foster sister, Emmy, but has more to learn as well as continue to build his confidence; he still has a little bit of separation anxiety but it is gets better each day. He will definitely want another furry sibling in his fur-ever home. His new sibling should be young enough to play with him and about his same size. Duke will gain even more social skills with a furry friend in the home. He prefers a pup with a gentler play style and not too too rough and physical. He is young, playful and lots of fun and just wants another buddy to romp and roll with!
This little fellow is new to rescue, and we continue to get to know him but so far, his foster mom thinks he’s pretty much perfect. He can get a little mouthy when he gets really excited during play, but his foster mom and fur-siblings are helping him understand that is not acceptable and how to sublimate that natural tendency. He’s still very much a puppy in most ways. So, any interaction with young children will need to be closely supervised; older, dog-savvy children would be fine. He will also need another dog in the home who is confident and will help him learn good doggy social skills, kindly. He learns very, very quickly and is anxious to please. No apartments or condos for this boy – he loves loves loves to be outside, a good run in the back yard and is a master zoomer. No dog parks as this little fellow is humble and wants to play with everyone, even dogs who may not like him.
As part of Duke’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.
