Sweet Jasmine’s story is one we wish we didn’t hear so often. She found herself at Harris County Pets and eventually landed on the long-stay list, meaning her time was running out. We had our eyes on her during our shelter pull, but with so many lives to save and not enough hours in the day, we weren’t able to meet her before leaving.   But we couldn’t stop thinking about her.   So first thing Sunday morning, we went right back. We had a feeling we were going to love her, but we wanted to make sure she was the wonderful girl we hoped she’d be. We temperament tested her with another dog we were planning to save, and Jasmine passed with flying colors. No surprise there! This beautiful girl is all about her people. She wants to be as close to you as possible—preferably in your lap soaking up all the love and attention she can get. She has the sweetest soul and the kind of gentle affection that makes you fall in love instantly. Jasmine is dog-friendly, but she seems more interested in cuddles than playtime, so a home with a calmer canine companion would likely be her perfect match. She’s settling in beautifully, soaking up the safety and kindness she deserves, and she’s clearly relieved to know her shelter days are behind her. Now all Jasmine needs is a foster or forever family to complete her happy ending. Could that be you? Hello beautiful -- Introducing Lisa! Lisa is one of the sweet girls from our shelter pull this weekend. She was surrendered by her owner to Harris County, though we don’t know the reason why. We do know one thing though…this mama has clearly had puppies recently, but sadly they were not turned in with her.   Even though Lisa has only been with us a short time, she has already shown us just how gentle, calm, and loving she is. She’s the kind of dog who just melts into you. Lisa gets along well with other dogs and so far seems more like a laid back girl than a rough-and-tumble player, but as she settles in and gets more comfortable, we are already seeing her personality bloom. Watching her start wagging her tail and open up has been so special    We would absolutely love to get Lisa into a foster home soon so she can finally relax and know what it feels like to be truly loved. He has that easygoing country charm that makes him such a joy to be around, and he loves other dogs too! Duke was born with hip dysplasia which required surgery. His surgeries went beautifully. Now that he is living pain free, Duke has a new zest for life and hop in his step . He has fully recovered, and his true playful spirit is shining through. He loves chasing and wrestling with his canine foster siblings and keeping up with all the fun. We believe Duke is a large-breed mix—possibly with Retriever such as a Golden/Labrador (he has a beautiful golden coat) and Shepherd. Whatever his mix, he’s full of love, curiosity, and a sweet, loyal nature. She was a puppy from a friend’s mistake litter. The mom was a golden retriever and had gotten out. The dad is a border collie, but more than likely a border collie mix. Persephone is predominantly border collie. She needs routine, tasks, exercise. She’s territorial as well. She is up to date with vaccines and heartworm/flea/tick medication. I have a two year old, a one year old, and a baby due soon. I can’t give her the attention and exercise she needs. She is amazing with children. My son a daughter are her babies. She is great with my family dogs, but not with stranger dogs. Severe anxiety. She doesn’t bite but she will run. Barks. A lot.
