Story
Chance is a rare to find English Springer Spaniel.  You don’t really see them much as an offering in the rescue world. This 70 pound handsome 7 year old hunk is so very sweet was rescued from a puppy  mill where he was “used” as a stud.  His foster mom rescued him from living outside all his life in a small pen with no comforts that he so very much deserved.  He was not a family pet, but a commodity where he was used to produce puppies so the people could sell them.  Chance was not potty trained of course but he is almost there now and belly bands are used to help him stay out of trouble with marking.  He is not neutered yet due to appointments being scarce. He will be soon and that will certainly help the housebreaking.  The woman who owned him said he came inside the house may be a few times over his life and so he was “rescued” from that life by a dear woman who is now working with Critter Cavalry Rescue to find him a home.  Oh my this dog is a dream and he is so much “loving” the inside life with air conditioning or heat on a colder evening or day.  He will be neutered the 24th May! He loves the water and swimming in his foster’s pond! He does have this really precious smile where it kinda looks like he’s growling but he is NOT! He is the best boy! There are three puppies in this letter and they are all female Piper is the largest (16 lbs and 11 weeks old) of this litter and definitely the most dominant of the group, she’s is definitely bossy and will take anything she wants from her sisters, separate from them she’s quite the adventurous one, very affectionate and she loves water, she will quite happily lay down in the wading pool on a nice warm day and enjoy the water. She also likes to splash around in it, and play with a hose, so if you’re looking for a water dog she could be perfect for you!

She’s happy to be held and loves to rough and tumble with piper.

Meet Watermelon, Cantaloupe, Honeydew, and Gaya! These ladies are 12 week old English Springer Spaniel mixes who were saved from a commercial breeding facility in Lancaster county due not being sold quickly enough. Sadly, this happens all the time due to the alarmingly high amount of dogs that puppy mills are constantly producing. It is simply easier for them to give the older puppies up as they don't care how much they use and abuse their breeding mothers, making them produce litter after litter. These sweethearts are understandably shy and nervous at first, but are doing a great job learning to trust new people! As with all dogs we save from puppy mills, they will need a family who is understanding and prepared to work through a period of transition with them as they learn to live in a house and around people. They will need time to trust their new family before working on training, such as house training. This should go without saying, but we require all our animals to be trained using positive reinforcement methods ONLY. Puppy mill dogs tend to do best in a home without young children as well (10+), though this determination is made on a case by case basis. These are high energy hunting breed dogs and will require a very active family up to the task of providing them the ample physical and mental exercise they require.
