Story
PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.2/22/26 Penny is a 3 year old Brittany Spaniel mix. She is a friendly, energetic girl who loves kids, cats, and most other dogs. Penny is house trained, leash trained, and crate trained. She really needs a home where she can get more exercise. A fenced yard would be ideal for her, but leash walks might do as long as her adopter is committed to walk/run her enough to get her energy out. Shes a good girl that just needs the right family to love her. She is spayed, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.  Penny is located in Arkansas. She can be adopted locally, but transport is available to the New England area as well. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them in PA, NY, or CT on Saturdays. Story
Meet Rosie 🐾 Please read the bio in full for answers to common questions. If you have a question not covered here, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/. Because all of our dogs live in foster homes, meet-and-greets are scheduled only after a completed application is received. Adoptions must be within a reasonable distance of Marlton, NJ so our volunteers can conduct an in-person home visit. Rosie is a beautiful 10½-year-old Brittany Spaniel weighing about 42 pounds, and she is the definition of a devoted companion. This gentle girl is fully housebroken, well trained, and happiest when she’s close to her people. If you’re looking for a loyal shadow who will adore you endlessly, Rosie is ready to report for duty. Rosie came to us as an owner surrender after a life where she was clearly cherished and well cared for. She forms quick, loving attachments and often looks to her humans for reassurance and affection. Her health is stable overall, and she currently receives monthly Cytopoint injections (about $100) and eats Royal Canin GI Low Fat kibble. She does require regular grooming, including brushing at least twice weekly and weekly ear cleanings. This medium-energy sweetheart enjoys daily walks and yard time. A fenced-in yard is strongly preferred so she can safely stretch her legs and indulge one of her favorite hobbies: squirrel watching and chasing. Rosie walks nicely on leash, can handle stairs, and has lovely manners around the home. She is good with dogs and kids (best with ages 10+), though she does have some prey drive and has not been tested with cats. Rosie is what we lovingly call a “velcro dog.” She truly wants to be with her people as much as possible and does not enjoy being left alone for long stretches (more than about three hours). She thrives in a home where someone is around most of the day and where she can count on a predictable routine — including her preferred three meals a day. She also has significant anxiety during car rides, even with medication, so her ideal home will not require frequent travel. One of Rosie’s cutest quirks? She came with an entire bag of toys and takes evening playtime very seriously. She will enthusiastically chase squeaky toys across the room… but don’t expect her to bring them back. By the end of playtime, you’ll find toys happily scattered everywhere — just the way Rosie likes it. Rosie would do best in a loving, structured home that will provide regular exercise, plenty of companionship, and the gentle reassurance she craves. In return, she will give you unwavering loyalty, sweet affection, and the comforting presence of a dog who simply wants to be near her people. If your home is ready for a soft-hearted, devoted best friend, Rosie may be your perfect match. 💕

Story
Gem is a four-year-old German Shorthair Pointer (GSP) with a zest for life and a loving nature. Like most GSPs, she’s full of energy and thrives in a home that can keep up with her active lifestyle. Whether it’s hiking, running, or exploring the great outdoors, Gem is ready to be your adventure buddy. After a day of activity, she loves nothing more than to settle down for some quality snuggle time with her favorite people. Her favorite thing, beyond anything else, is to be right by her person's side. Gem is well-mannered and has a solid foundation of basic training. She’s potty trained, walks well on a leash, and has reliable recall skills, making her a joy to take on outings. However, her hunting breed instincts are strong, and she has a high prey drive, so she requires a secure, tall, physically fenced yard (no electric fences or tie outs) to safely burn off her energy. Gem’s ideal home is a single-family home with plenty of space and a secure yard, as she needs room to run and play. She is not a good fit for renters or homes with restrictions on outdoor space. Due to her desire to chase, Gem is also not suitable for a home with cats or small animals. She lives in a foster home with six other dogs and gets along well with them, so she would love another canine companion, but would also do well as an only dog! While Gem is friendly and affectionate, she can get nervous in certain situations. For this reason, she would do best in a home with children aged 15 or older who can understand and respect her boundaries. She’s crate-trained and is most comfortable and will need to be crated when her family isn’t home, which helps her feel safe and secure. Gem is spayed, microchipped, and fully vaccinated, so she’s ready to transition smoothly into her new home. Her ideal family will not only appreciate her energetic and playful nature but also provide the structure and understanding she needs. If you’re looking for a loyal, active companion and are willing to travel to Reading, PA, to meet her, Gem could be the perfect fit!
