Story
Meet Danica! Danica is an adorable Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, nearly 2 years old and weighing 15 pounds. Her striking black and white coloring reminded us of a racing champion's checkered flag - so we named her Danica. Though she came from a puppy mill and was used for breeding at a young age, Danica isn't carrying that past with her. She's looking forward with hope and excitement, ready to embrace her new life. Danica absolutely loves to run in a fenced yard - she'd be a star at a cross-country meet! She gets along wonderfully with other dogs, though she hasn't yet been introduced to cats. She's making great progress with leash training, is nearly house-trained, and sleeps peacefully in her crate all night. That said, her favorite place to sleep would be cuddled up next to her person in bed. Danica adores gently pets and is still learning to enjoy full-on hugs. She's as sweet as pumpkin pie and ready to become the newest member of your family - just in time for the best Thanksgiving ever. Danica is fostered in the Cincinnati area. Her adoption fee is $450.00. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Autumn is a gentle, soulful Cocker Spaniel who is experiencing the world for the very first time. After spending most of her life in a puppy mill having litter after litter, she is finally getting the chance to learn what it means to be safe, loved, and part of a family. She is a quiet, tender girl who finds comfort in the presence of other dogs. Autumn absolutely lights up around them—she follows their lead, copies their routines, and even chooses to nap right on top of the dog beds so she can be close. Having one (or more!) doggy friends gives her confidence and helps her understand this new life. Autumn is still learning how to trust people. She is shy and unsure at first and may try to keep her distance, but with time and gentle patience, she slowly begins to show her soft, sweet personality. She has even discovered the joy of climbing onto the couch to curl up and nap—something she never had the chance to do before. Because she is still new to the concept of potty training and leash walking, Autumn does best with a physically fenced yard. She feels safer going potty off leash and is far more successful when she can explore the yard at her own pace. A fenced yard also gives her a secure place to practice her leash skills without pressure or fear. Autumn settles best in a larger crate and may howl a little at first, but she adjusts and relaxes. Most things in a normal home are brand new to her—sounds, routines, affection, freedom—and she takes them in gently and carefully. For her safety, letting her drag a leash indoors makes it easier to guide or pick her up without scaring her. What makes Autumn so special is the quiet courage she shows every day. Despite everything she’s been through, she is trying. She is curious. She is learning. And she is finally beginning to feel what safety and comfort are supposed to be. Autumn is looking for a calm, patient, low-key household with another confident dog and a fenced yard—a place where she can continue to decompress, build trust at her own pace, and blossom into the dog she was always meant to be. If you’re someone who believes in second chances and finds beauty in watching a dog bloom, Autumn will steal your heart. Autumn is currently being fostered in the Cincinnati, OH area. Her adoption fee is $300.00. Story
Sassifraga is a 25lb, 4.5-year-old Cavalier and the sweetest girl you'll ever meet! She is a retired puppy mill mama with a whole new life ahead of her and is looking for a special family to show her the good life. She will need a patient home to help her learn all about potty training and walking on a leash, but is already doing great using pee pads in her foster home. She absolutely loves to cuddle and will happily sit in your lap giving you kisses all day long! Bonus if you have a furry sibling for her to play and cuddle with as she loves other dogs. If you're looking for a sweet companion to fill your heart with joy then Sassifraga is your girl! Common for her breed, Sassifraga has been diagnosed with early stage degenerative valve disease that is currently managed with heart friendly food and no medication. While this diagnosis may sound scary, it does not slow this sweet girl down a bit! Potential families are encouraged to research this diagnosis while considering adopting. Sassifraga is fostered in the Cincinnati area. Her adoption fee is $450.00.
