Story
Meet Bogart, a young standard poodle with a gentle heart who’s feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the recent changes in his life. Surrendered due to his owner’s illness, Bogart came to us after only a couple of days in a home, and the shelter has been a lot for this sensitive boy. He is very shy and tends to retreat when things feel scary, so he’ll need a patient adopter who can give him time, space, and a calm environment to decompress and let his true personality shine. Bogart has no history of aggression, is quiet and sweet-natured, and enjoys having sturdy chew toys to work on. He’s still brand new to the world—no exposure yet to kids, other animals, or busy environments—so slow, positive introductions will be essential as he builds confidence. He has however shown interest in other dogs he's seen, so a doggy friend might help build his confidence. With love, consistency, and reassurance, Bogart has all the makings of a wonderful companion. If you’re ready to help a shy poodle blossom, this handsome boy is waiting for you.

Story
Our pup has been with us for 4 years now and has intermittently signs of guarding and other reactive behavior. We recently had twin babies, and the guarding/reactivity and our ability to manage it long term is not compatible with our new family dynamic. We love him dearly, but this environment is not the right one for him. I understand that there might be ways to manage further, but we are simply out of time/space/ability to do so given that our priority is our new growing family. To that end, we are looking to re-home our beautiful, smart friend to springer lovers who can give him the space, patience, and chaos-free household (no children or pets) that we just can't at this life stage. Ideally he would end up with a one or two person adult household with very little "child traffic". We are located in Maryland, but willing to travel if someone would be a good fit.
