Story
Hi, I’m looking for my forever home! I’m a sweet and affectionate kitty who loves spending time with you, whether we’re snuggling up to watch TV or just hanging out. I can also be independent when you need your space, but I’ll always be happy to be by your side. I get along well with other kind, gentle dogs and would love to find a home where I can feel safe and loved. I’ve been neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped, so I’m all set for my new adventure! I was abandoned by my first family, but a kind-hearted person found me and gave me a second chance. Now, I’m ready to start a new chapter with someone who will love me forever. Could that be you?

These cats are in Hemet, California too!

PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION BELOW. IT WILL ANSWER ALL YOUR QUESTIONS. If you still have questions after, we are happy to respond through email. It is a long read and a long adoption process. Please understand we are ensuring that our babies go to great homes and we don't know you personally (yet). Understand that this is an adoption of a beautiful little soul that deserves the absolute best life. The average lifespan of a cat is 13 to 20 years. Some cats even live into their thirties, although this is far less common. So don't let that discourage you from adopting an adult cat! KONA and her siblings (PELE - PRISCILLA - RINGO - FELIX - LULU) were saved from the shelter. They were so scared and underaged. They were in danger so we had to find a foster quickly! KONA has been ready for her FUREVER home for a long time! KONA is a playful girl who loves to talk. When she’s hungry, she will follow you around meowing at you until you feed her wet food. Her favorite place to be is playing inside of a cardboard box. She loves a box full of toys so she can jump inside and dump all of the toys out. KONA is a DOMESTIC SHORT HAIR / EGYPTIAN MAU-TABBY MIX. She is 4 years and 5 months old and is good with cats and small children. In her foster home, she is around other kittens and older cats. She has never been around dogs. She will do best with a strong cat that can handle her playing and strong will. Or she will be good by herself. KONA is currently located at a foster home in Beaumont, California. ADOPTION PROCESS: 1. Go to Workinwhiskers.com (Click on ADOPT) 2. Fill Out Online Form 3. Submit Online Application 4. Some cats even live into their thirties, although this is far less common. So don't let that discourage you from adopting an adult cat! Rescue mama has had 3 live into their 20's. One was 8 weeks old. RACHEL VALDEZ and 12 other relatives of hers were all dumped at a church in Whittier, California. These poor babies were left in the sun in a total of two carriers in front of a church. Needless to say, the rescue mama set course that day to pick them up. It took us 2 days to get them all to the rescue and to foster care. So RACHEL VALDEZ (named after the show: WYNONNA EARP) we believe was kept very well by whomever abandoned her. With all the tragedy that has happened to this young girl and her family, she deserves to have a wonderful home. She is now living a nice pampered life. RACHEL VALDEZ is a HUGE LUV BUG. When you pick her up, she will stay still and allow pets. You can see in her sweet little face, she is has the look of wanting love. But she also looks like she will be quite sassy. She loves to play by herself or any kitten. She does this cute little butt drop dance hen someone approaches her. She really loves to play with toys. She loves her can food and she will tell you all about it. She needs a real family that will love her like their own family member. **** RACHEL VALDEZ does have scratches on her cornea. They do not bother her at all and she can see just fine. **** RACHEL VALDEZ is DOMESTIC SHORT HAIR / EGYPTIAN MAU-TABBY MIX. She is about 2 years and 7 months old. She is good with cats. She has never been around young children or dogs. But she does seem very curious about dogs. RACHEL VALDEZ is at our rescue in Hemet, California. ADOPTION PROCESS: 1. NOVEMBER 2025 PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION BELOW. ATHENA GRANT and her 2 siblings (KAREN WILSON - JOSH RUSSO - MAY GRANT - EDDIE DIAZ) were saved from a hoarding case in Watts, California. They were all barley surviving. We named all the cats that were saved from that place after the characters in the show 911. ATHENA GRANT is a shy yet inquisitive cat. She possesses a loving demeanor and thrives on proximity to her human companions. While she enjoys cuddling, it is essential to respect her boundaries and allow her to initiate affection. A gradual approach is recommended, as sudden movements may be overwhelming. ATHENA GRANT is deeply devoted to her human family and requires time to establish trust. Her athletic build and slender physique are reminiscent of a track and field athlete. As a highly energetic and playful individual, ATHENA GRANT delights in engaging in physical activities and chasing toys. She coexists harmoniously with calm and composed felines who respect her personal space. However, she may become overwhelmed by assertive or dominant cats. ATHENA GRANTs greatest desire is to form a deep bond with a human companion. Due to her sensitive nature, it is advisable that she be placed in a household with older children who understand and respect personal boundaries. Her compatibility with canine companions is uncertain. ATHENA GRANT seems to be the kind of cat who is both subtle and graceful in her approach to relationships—whether with humans or other animals. Her Egyptian Mau background gives her a naturally athletic and agile build, but it also comes with a keen sense of awareness. These cats are often known for their intelligence and sensitivity, so ATHENA GRANT might be particularly attuned to the emotions of the people around her. When she’s shy, it’s likely her way of processing the world and making sure she feels comfortable with the energy in the room. It also means she can form incredibly strong bonds with her human family once she feels safe. It’s clear that patience is key with her. Since sudden movements can overwhelm her, it’s likely that building trust with Athena will take time, and that slow, consistent approach will eventually pay off. The fact that she’s playful and energetic suggests that once you’ve earned her trust, she’ll open up and be an active participant in your life. It’s just a matter of respecting her boundaries and allowing her to initiate physical affection when she feels ready. For someone who is attentive to her needs, I imagine ATHENA GRANT would be a deeply rewarding companion. Her playful side might come out during quiet, low-stress moments when she feels comfortable and secure. Given her athletic build, she’s probably not the type to just lounge around all day. Egyptian Maus are known for their energetic bursts, and I can imagine her delighting in chasing toys, maybe pouncing on them with that sleek, graceful movement that’s characteristic of the breed. Whether she’s chasing a feather wand or pouncing on a ball, those play sessions will likely be an essential part of her routine to burn off energy and keep herself mentally stimulated. When it comes to other animals, ATHENA GRANT seems like she could thrive in a calm, peaceful household. She’d likely get along best with other cats who respect her space—ones who are more introverted or laid-back rather than overly dominant or assertive. Since she’s sensitive, it’s understandable that she might feel overwhelmed by more dominant cats who are pushy or aggressive, but with the right companion, she might develop a harmonious relationship where both cats understand each other’s boundaries. The mention of her being better suited for a home with older children is insightful. Children who are respectful of ATHENA GRANT’s personal space would allow her to feel more secure and be able to interact with them at her own pace. ATHENA GRANT’s shyness could be an asset in a quieter, more structured environment where she can learn to trust the people around her at her own speed. ATHENA GRANT's story is one of resilience and healing, and her gentle soul is a reminder of the power of kindness and care. Though she’s come a long way from her rough beginnings, she’s never forgotten how much love can change a life. Now, she spends her days in quiet joy, a constant reminder of the unconditional love that a rescue pet can give. ATHENA GRANT’s journey from a sick kitten in a rehab center to the sweet lap cat she is today is a testament to the strength of the human-animal bond and the healing power of patience, care, and a warm lap. If you’re interested in bringing ATHENA GRANT into your life, please apply at: Workinwhiskers.com ATHENA GRANT is a DOMESTIC SHORT HAIR / EGYTIAN MAU TABBY MIX. She is about 1 year 3 months old.
