PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION BELOW. IT WILL ANSWER ALL YOUR QUESTIONS. If you still have questions after, we are happy to respond through email. It is a long read and a long adoption process. Please understand we are ensuring that our babies go to great homes, and we don't know you personally (yet). Understand that this is an adoption of a beautiful little soul that deserves the absolute best life. The average lifespan of a cat is 13 to 20 years. Some cats even live into their thirties, although this is far less common. So don't let that discourage you from adopting an adult cat! Rescue mama has had 3 live into their 20's. One was 8 weeks old. RACHEL VALDEZ and 12 other relatives of hers were all dumped at a church in Whittier, California. These poor babies were left in the sun in a total of two carriers in front of a church. Needless to say, the rescue mama set course that day to pick them up. It took us 2 days to get them all to the rescue and to foster care. So RACHEL VALDEZ (named after the show: WYNONNA EARP) we believe was kept very well by whomever abandoned her. With all the tragedy that has happened to this young girl and her family, she deserves to have a wonderful home. She is now living a nice pampered life. RACHEL VALDEZ is a HUGE LUV BUG. When you pick her up, she will stay still and allow pets. You can see in her sweet little face, she is has the look of wanting love. But she also looks like she will be quite sassy. She loves to play by herself or any kitten. She does this cute little butt drop dance hen someone approaches her. She really loves to play with toys. She loves her can food and she will tell you all about it. She needs a real family that will love her like their own family member. **** RACHEL VALDEZ does have scratches on her cornea. They do not bother her at all and she can see just fine. **** RACHEL VALDEZ is DOMESTIC SHORT HAIR / EGYPTIAN MAU-TABBY MIX. She is about 2 years and 7 months old. She is good with cats. She has never been around young children or dogs. But she does seem very curious about dogs. RACHEL VALDEZ is at our rescue in Hemet, California. ADOPTION PROCESS: 1. JANUARY 2026 PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION BELOW. IT WILL ANSWER ALL YOUR QUESTIONS. If you still have questions after, we are happy to respond through email. It is a long read and a long adoption process. Please understand we are ensuring that our babies go to great homes and we don't know you personally (yet). ATHENA GRANT and her 2 siblings (KAREN WILSON - JOSH RUSSO - MAY GRANT - EDDIE DIAZ) were saved from a hoarding case in Watts, California. They were all barley surviving. We named all the cats that were saved from that place after the characters in the show 911. ATHENA GRANT is a shy yet inquisitive cat. She possesses a loving demeanor and thrives on proximity to her human companions. While she enjoys cuddling, it is essential to respect her boundaries and allow her to initiate affection. A gradual approach is recommended, as sudden movements may be overwhelming. ATHENA GRANT is deeply devoted to her human family and requires time to establish trust. Her athletic build and slender physique are reminiscent of a track and field athlete. As a highly energetic and playful individual, ATHENA GRANT delights in engaging in physical activities and chasing toys. She coexists harmoniously with calm and composed felines who respect her personal space. However, she may become overwhelmed by assertive or dominant cats. ATHENA GRANTs greatest desire is to form a deep bond with a human companion. Due to her sensitive nature, it is advisable that she be placed in a household with older children who understand and respect personal boundaries. Her compatibility with canine companions is uncertain. ATHENA GRANT seems to be the kind of cat who is both subtle and graceful in her approach to relationships—whether with humans or other animals. Her Egyptian Mau background gives her a naturally athletic and agile build, but it also comes with a keen sense of awareness. These cats are often known for their intelligence and sensitivity, so ATHENA GRANT might be particularly attuned to the emotions of the people around her. When she’s shy, it’s likely her way of processing the world and making sure she feels comfortable with the energy in the room. It also means she can form incredibly strong bonds with her human family once she feels safe. It’s clear that patience is key with her. Since sudden movements can overwhelm her, it’s likely that building trust with Athena will take time, and that slow, consistent approach will eventually pay off. The fact that she’s playful and energetic suggests that once you’ve earned her trust, she’ll open up and be an active participant in your life. It’s just a matter of respecting her boundaries and allowing her to initiate physical affection when she feels ready. For someone who is attentive to her needs, I imagine ATHENA GRANT would be a deeply rewarding companion. Her playful side might come out during quiet, low-stress moments when she feels comfortable and secure. Given her athletic build, she’s probably not the type to just lounge around all day. Egyptian Maus are known for their energetic bursts, and I can imagine her delighting in chasing toys, maybe pouncing on them with that sleek, graceful movement that’s characteristic of the breed. Whether she’s chasing a feather wand or pouncing on a ball, those play sessions will likely be an essential part of her routine to burn off energy and keep herself mentally stimulated. When it comes to other animals, ATHENA GRANT seems like she could thrive in a calm, peaceful household. She’d likely get along best with other cats who respect her space—ones who are more introverted or laid-back rather than overly dominant or assertive. Since she’s sensitive, it’s understandable that she might feel overwhelmed by more dominant cats who are pushy or aggressive, but with the right companion, she might develop a harmonious relationship where both cats understand each other’s boundaries. The mention of her being better suited for a home with older children is insightful. Children who are respectful of ATHENA GRANT’s personal space would allow her to feel more secure and be able to interact with them at her own pace. ATHENA GRANT’s shyness could be an asset in a quieter, more structured environment where she can learn to trust the people around her at her own speed. ATHENA GRANT's story is one of resilience and healing, and her gentle soul is a reminder of the power of kindness and care. Though she’s come a long way from her rough beginnings, she’s never forgotten how much love can change a life. Now, she spends her days in quiet joy, a constant reminder of the unconditional love that a rescue pet can give. ATHENA GRANT’s journey from a sick kitten in a rehab center to the sweet lap cat she is today is a testament to the strength of the human-animal bond and the healing power of patience, care, and a warm lap. If you’re interested in bringing ATHENA GRANT into your life, please apply at: Workinwhiskers.com ATHENA GRANT is a DOMESTIC SHORT HAIR / EGYTIAN MAU TABBY MIX. She is about 1 year 5 months old. She is good with cats. She has never been around children or dogs. ATHENA GRANT is currently at our rescue in Hemet, California ADOPTION PROCESS: 1. Go to Workinwhiskers.com (Click on ADOPT) 2. SEPTEMBER 2025 PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION BELOW. IT WILL ANSWER ALL YOUR QUESTIONS. If you still have questions after, we are happy to respond through email. It is a long read and a long adoption process. Please understand we are ensuring that our babies go to great homes and we don't know you personally (yet). Understand that this is an adoption of a beautiful little soul that deserves the absolute best life. NEZUMI was saved by an independent rescuer back in late 2022. He was young. Well fast forward to a few years ago, the lady was killed by a drunk driver. We were asked to help with her rescues and to our dismay, her house was a horrific hoarding case. We pulled 55 cats that were still alive. Our rescue took 26 of those cats into out rescue. NEZUMI is now ready for adoption. NEZUMI can be shy at first. He gets comfortable very quick and is curious about everything. He can get startled, but will come back and investigate. He will then throw himself on the floor and demand attention. He is a very good assistant and loves to help you do your chores. He especially loves the mop. Oh and quite fond of his (we think) sister KOALA. NEZUMI is such a sweet love bug. All he wants is pets and love. Loves to play. He really loves to play with anything and makes you laugh with his silliness. NEZUMI comes running when it's time to get his can food. He will actually let you know to hurry up! He has the cutest face and his beautiful coat is very unique. His purr box is very loud. He's looking for his REAL FUREVER home. NEZUMI is a DOMESTIC SHORT HAIR / EGYPTIAN MAU MIX. He is about 4 years 1 month old. He has lived with cats. He has lived with dogs. He has never been around children. Some cats even live into their thirties, although this is far less common. So don't let that discourage you from adopting an adult cat! Rescue Mama has had 3 live into their 20's. One was 8 weeks old. NURSE NICOLETTE “NIC” NEVIN and her 3 siblings (DR KIT VOSS - DR. RANDOLPH BELL - DR CONRAD HAWKINS) were living in a rough area in Hemet, California. The nice lady that found them was feeding them, until we were able to get them fixed and into the rescue. Meet NURSE NICOLETTE “NIC” NEVIN, a delightful Egyptian Mau Tabby from Hemet, California, whose vibrant stripes frame a heart full of playfulness and charm. With her graceful build and stunning coat that glimmers in the light, NURSE NICOLETTE “NIC” NEVIN is a feline whose personality shines just as brightly as her beautiful markings. Egyptian Maus are known for their intelligence and athleticism, and NURSE NICOLETTE “NIC” NEVIN lives up to her heritage in every way. She can often be found darting after feather toys with lightning speed, then proudly showing off her wrestling moves with her cat buddies, turning every day into an adventure. NURSE NICOLETTE “NIC” NEVIN has a tender side too—she absolutely melts when receiving gentle pets from a caring hand. She’ll happily nuzzle into her caregiver, purring away as though she’s been waiting her whole life for that connection. And if you bring out her favorites—Churru treats, savory wet food, or anything delicious from the treat stash—you’ll instantly become her best friend. Her food motivation makes her a wonderful candidate for positive reinforcement, ensuring she’ll continue to thrive in a loving environment that celebrates her playful spirit. While NURSE NICOLETTE “NIC” NEVIN loves to run, chase, and wrestle, she’s also a social butterfly who enjoys the company of other cats. She feels right at home with feline friends and thrives in a space where she can share her playful energy. Her blend of mischief and sweetness makes her the perfect companion for a family looking for both laughter and affection in their daily lives. NURSE NICOLETTE “NIC” NEVIN is right in that magical stage between kittenhood and adulthood, bringing all the curiosity of youth with a hint of the graceful cat she’s becoming. She’s clever, affectionate, and endlessly entertaining. Whether she’s batting at feathers, zooming across the room, or curling up after a satisfying snack, she fills every moment with joy. NURSE NICOLETTE “NIC” NEVIN is ready to find a new loving home where her playful spirit and affectionate heart can truly shine. Could you be the one to welcome this special girl into your family and share in her adventures? To learn more about adopting NURSE NICOLETTE “NIC” NEVIN, please apply at Workinwhiskers.com. NOVEMBER 2025 PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION BELOW. The average lifespan of a cat is 13 to 20 years. Some cats even live into their thirties, although this is far less common. So don't let that discourage you from adopting an adult cat! Rescue Mama has had 3 live into their 20's. One was 8 weeks old. Some cats even live into their thirties, although this is far less common. So don't let that discourage you from adopting an adult cat! Rescue Mama has had 3 live into their 20's. One was 8 weeks old. GARFIELD and his 3 siblings (ODIE and JINX) were part of a huge TNR effort in El Monte, California. The group TNRed all the adult cats and rescued moms and kittens. We were asked to find them good homes. So they went with one of our fosters. Meet GARFIELD: The Resilient, Shy Orange Tabby Ready for His Forever Home! GARFIELD is a sweet, shy orange tabby with a heart full of potential. He was part of a TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) project in El Monte, where he was rescued after living as a stray. He had a rough start in life, struggling with illness, but his resilience and strength have carried him through. Now, he’s ready to leave his past behind and find a loving, patient home where he can truly thrive. About Garfield: Breed: Orange Tabby Personality: Shy, Playful, Resilient, Social Likes: Playing, Other Cats, Observing, Soft Blankets Dislikes: Fast movements, being overwhelmed Special Needs: Needs a quiet, calm home with time and patience to adjust Garfield may be a little shy at first, but don’t let that fool you—he has so much love and potential to give. Once he feels comfortable in a space, he opens up with the cutest bursts of energy, especially when it’s time to play. Garfield LOVES playing with toys, and his playful side shines through when he’s feeling safe and secure. He also has a special fondness for other cats, and would likely do well in a home with fellow feline friends who can help him feel more confident. Garfield has a bit of a cautious nature, especially when encountering new people or situations. But this sweet boy has come a long way from the sick, scared stray he once was, and with patience, he’ll continue to blossom into the affectionate and loyal companion we know he can be. What Garfield Needs: A patient adopter who understands his shy nature and can give him time to adjust. A calm, quiet environment where Garfield feels safe and can take things at his own pace. A home with other cats would be ideal, as Garfield enjoys the company of his fellow felines. Gentle handling and a soft, consistent routine to help him build trust and confidence. Time, understanding, and a willingness to let him come to you on his terms. Why Adopt Garfield? GARFIELD may be shy at first, but he has a world of potential to be someone’s best friend. He’s come a long way from his difficult beginnings, and with the right environment and patient adopter, GARFIELD will make a wonderful companion. His love for playing, his affection for other cats, and his resilient spirit show that, given the chance, GARFIELD will bring joy and comfort to any home. If you’re ready to give GARFIELD the safe and loving home he deserves, he’s waiting to meet you. With time, patience, and love, GARFIELD will become the best friend you’ve always wanted. Adopt Garfield Today! If you have the time and understanding to help GARFIELD reach his full potential, don’t wait—reach out to us today and learn more about how you can make this sweet boy a part of your family. GARFIELD may be shy, but once he trusts you, he’ll reward you with a bond like no other. Are you the one to give him his forever home? GARFIELD is DOMESTIC SHORT HAIR / TABBY MIX. PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION BELOW. IT WILL ANSWER ALL YOUR QUESTIONS. If you still have questions after, we are happy to respond through email. It is a long read and a long adoption process. Please understand we are ensuring that our babies go to great homes and we don't know you personally (yet). Understand that this is an adoption of a beautiful little soul that deserves the absolute best life. The average lifespan of a cat is 13 to 20 years. Some cats even live into their thirties, although this is far less common. So don't let that discourage you from adopting an adult cat! ZELENA was saved from the streets of Murrieta, California. Our volunteer saw her posted on Nextdoor and felt so bad for her. She picked her up to find out that the ZELENA was dumped by her previous family. We got her fully vetted. Unfortunately she was pregnant at the time. We were unaware that she was at the time of the appointment. Meet ZELENA, a radiant orange tabby female from Murrieta, California, whose warm golden coat is only rivaled by the warmth of her purring heart. With a personality as bold as her beautiful coloring, ZELENA is a curious, affectionate lap cat who’s equal parts snuggly companion and sassy queen. ZELENA is the kind of cat who knows exactly what she wants—and what she wants most is your attention. She adores being petted and will reward you with a full-on purr symphony the moment your hand reaches her soft fur. Whether you’re reading a book or working on your laptop, expect ZELENA to climb into your lap, settle in like royalty, and make herself perfectly at home. While she’s full of love for people, ZELENA prefers to reign as the solo feline in your kingdom. She thrives as the center of attention and would be happiest in a home where she doesn’t have to share her space (or your lap!) with other cats. Her playful curiosity and people-oriented nature make her the ultimate one-on-one companion. ZELENA has a touch of feistiness that only adds to her charm—think of it as spice in the sweetness. She’s spirited and independent, with a dash of diva flair, and she’s not afraid to let you know when she needs some personal space. But once she’s had a little time to herself, she’s right back to being your affectionate shadow. This large-and-in-charge lady is looking for a loving home where she can stretch out, soak up affection, and finally enjoy the peace and pampering she’s been waiting for. Are you ready to meet a lap cat with personality, purrs, and a whole lot of heart? To learn more or to adopt ZELENA, please apply at: Workinwhiskers.com. ZELENA is DOMESTIC SHORT HAIR / TABBY MIX. She is about 3 years and 1 month old and is tolerant of other cats. She has not been around young children She has never been around dogs. The adoption fee of $200 covers: Spay FVRCP shots RABIES shot FELV/FIV test (Negative/Negative) Drontal Dewormer Stronghold Flea Control Microchip We are NOT a government FUNDED shelter and all our donations and adoption fees are for our rescued cats/kittens.
