Story
Oreo is currently at a rescue in Oklahoma. We are looking for a home in a state where people treat their animals well. He has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport near one of the cities listed at bottom. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, he will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. -Oreo is a male mixed breed. His DNA results were: 42% American Staffordshire Terrier, 16% Australian Cattle Dog, 13% American Pit Bull Terrier, and 5% or less of 12 other breeds. -Around 8 months old (November 13th). -Weighs around 40 pounds (November 13th), will be a medium-large dog. -Came into rescue with other puppies; they were dumped on the side of the road -Energetic, typical puppy....always wanting to have fun! -He is high energy! Will need a person/family that loves to be outdoors and exercise with him. -Very sweet natured -Likes playing with the other pups in the rescue -Needs work on walking on a leash -Is crated at night -Video of Oreo from August 28th: https://youtube.com/shorts/iwLuOGp1Npg Oreo is neutered, vaccinated (Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella), has been dewormed and is on monthly flea/tick/HW prevention. Health certificate and exam will be performed less than 10 days prior to transport. Adoption fee is $700, this is including all vetting above and transport cost. Story
KAPLAN is a handsome frenchie mix who is fully vetted and is friendly and does excellent with other dogs. He's active, playful, and good with people, as well, including kids - super well-mannered. He's estimated 5-6 years old and just under 50 lbs. Cats seem to be a no for him - a little TOO interested (potentially same for very small, "cat-like" dogs - might not be a good match, either). Kaplan loves walks and is good on the leash after about 5 seconds of pulling; he's easily redirected. He loves to cuddle, get belly rubs, and give high-fives and is a great all-around dog who should have been adopted long ago as he's about perfect as long as you don't have cats! 🤪He has a prostate issue which is currently managed with meds and a “belly band”. But he’s worth any little extra work this requires! 👉 Adoption fee INCLUDES: all vetting to age (including deworming, flea & tick etc), spay/neuter and microchip (if the dog is under 6 months, alter and chip will occur after they're 6 months, covered in full at our clinic or reimbursed partially at a vet of your choosing). If the dog is older than 6 months and not yet altered, we will schedule ASAP (normally within 30 days) at our clinic . We also provide as an incentive a $60 rebate for completion of positive-based training classes. Adoption also includes lifetime support of the rescue. 💜 Please click PURPLE BUTTON above to apply or go to www.secondhanddogrescue.com/apply ! ✍ APPLICATION PROCESSING: We do most application processing virtually and dog meets will be individually by appointment with ONLY APPROVED APPLICANTS. We are not a shelter and are completely volunteer foster-based, so there is no central place to come see all of the dogs available. 📌 IMPORTANT NOTES: ** Housetraining with rescues is sometimes a work in progress and even if a dog is 100% in a foster's home, it should be expected there will be an adjustment period as a dog adapts to a new environment. This is even more true if the dog has not by chance had their altering appointment at time of adoption. ** Also, we highly recommend some form of 2-week shutdown and decompression for dogs going to a new home for best results. --> Lastly, breed guesses in rescue are just that (GUESSES!!) 99.9% of the time. We do not do DNA testing and our breed guesses are based on appearance and sometimes other traits, but we know the dog breed guessing game is a fool's errand even for those with LOTS of experience. 🗺ADOPTION AREA: Several hour radius of Rochester, NY (Canada within 3hrs IS allowed), except the young puppies need to be old enough to have gotten their rabies vaccination in order to cross the border- usually around 16 weeks).

Story
ROXY is newer to the rescue and gets all the praise from her new foster. They say besides her beautiful looks, she's got a winning personality and loves others dogs, and to play as well as a good snuggle. She's a bigger girl at around 60 lbs and estimated young at 1-2 and she's fully vetted. (dob ~10/15/24) 👉 Adoption fee INCLUDES: all vetting to age (including deworming, flea & tick etc), spay/neuter and microchip (if the dog is under 6 months, alter and chip will occur after they're 6 months, covered in full at our clinic or reimbursed partially at a vet of your choosing).
