Story
Diesel is a 5 year old English Bulldog that weighs about 68lbs. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and on heart worm prevention. Diesel the weasel is an appropriate nickname since he weasels his way right into your heart. He has a Recto-urethral fistula, which is a birth defect that causes him to leak urine into his rectum from his urethra. Right now, the vet says his condition is stable and doesn't require any intervention, though it may lead to some UTIs down the road. He wouldn't be a bulldog if he didn't require some extra maintenance, right? Due to his issue, we use wipes on his booty every time he goes to potty to make sure he is kept clean. He also has another common ailment in bulldogs...a cherry eye, but it doesn't bother him at all. Diesel is looking for his forever home and the love of a patient ,yet firm family. Diesel is still learning to be a good boy. He needs someone who will continue to work on his boundaries and behavior. This is also very common behavior in bulldogs. When excited, he can be like a little bull in a china shop, so Diesel would be best in a home without young children. Diesel does not like to be crated and would be best in a home that respects that. He has proven to not be destructive when left alone. He does have separation anxiety when his humans leave, but he settles down quickly and then mostly sleeps. He does great in doggy daycare and enjoys being able to hang out with his friends. This has really helped him with his anxiety. He is a big fan of toys and w•a•l•k•s and going anywhere you go! His leash manners are still in the works as well, but he is doing great. An ideal home for Diesel would be someone who is home most of the day or only gone for short periods of time. For someone with a regular work schedule away from home, a doggy daycare option would be best for him. This rambunctious guy does have a cuddle bug side and enjoys taking naps with his people and belly scratches. Though he doesn't require daily medications for his anxiety, he may need something to help calm him during storms. He isn't a huge fan of the thunder or any loud noises outside, really. Diesel can be a door darter, so a home with a fenced in yard would be safest for him.  If you would like to give Diesel his forever home, please submit an application at southerncrossbtr.com. The adoption fee is $350. He is being fostered in New Albany, IN. Approved adopters must be willing to travel to where the dog is being fostered in order to adopt them. Story
Benji is a 2 year old French Bulldog that weighs about 22lbs. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and on heart worm prevention. Benji landed in rescue after he suffered a broken leg and his owners were unable to get him the care he needed. Southern Cross immediately stepped in to get Benji the surgery he needed, and he has made a full recovery. Benji is the sweetest little guy! He loves to snuggle on the couch, is definitely a lap dog, and even nuzzles in! He is very playful so would either benefit from having another young playful dog around or active owners who can safely exercise him. Potential adopters need to be prepared for the costs associated with his chronic skin and ear infections, which seem to be at bay with twice weekly medicated baths(medicated shampoo $25 per bottle) and ear cleaning. He is also on a breed specific food as well($80 per bag). Due to his previously broken leg, he is more likely to develop arthritis and potentially have mobility issues in the future. He has not been around children, but does try to play bite when he’s feeling frisky. Benji is looking for a cat-free home where he isnt tempted to chase them :) He is very well crate trained(alhotugh he does like to chew on his bedding), but does have the occasional accident around the house if not supervised. Benji is looking for a forever home that has knowledge of his breed and is able to provide him with the love and care he deserves! If you would like to give Benji his forever home, please submit an application at southerncrossbtr.com. The adoption fee is $500. He is being fostered in Buford, GA. Approved adopters must be willing to travel to where the dog is being fostered in order to adopt them.  For a complete listing of all of our available Bostons, or to learn more about SCBTR, please visit our website at www.southerncrossbtr.com.
