Shelter FAQs

Rescue and Relax is a Pittsburgh nonprofit animal rescue. We operate with a dedicated group of volunteers and foster homes, caring for homeless animals from across Western Pennsylvania until they can be placed in loving forever homes. Our cat lounge is home to between 15 and 20 adoptable cats at a time.

Adoption steps

  1. Submit Application
  2. Interview
    1. Our adoptions coordinator will verify your identity before you visit our lounge and meet your potential forever friend.
  3. Visit the Facility and Find a Pet
    1. You may either come meet all our pets to find one you really like or you can meet a pet you're already interested in.
  4. Approve Application
  5. Pay Fee
    1. Fees go towards getting pets fixed, microchipped, and taking care of any necessary medical treatments.
  6. Take the Pet Home

Additional adoption info

Our adoptions coordinator will verify your application information, and someone from our team will meet with you at the lounge to introduce you to your potential forever friend. We adopt out based on the best match for pets, not on a first-come-first-serve basis.
