Rescue FAQs

We target companion animals least likely to be spayed/neutered - stray cats - and help them get fixed so they do not contribute to pet overpopulation. Sometimes some of the cats we help cannot safely be returned to where they were found - for example they are sick or injured or multiple cats have been run over in the area. We rescue these cats, get them well, and find them safe, indoor homes. We rely on private donations and adoption fees to fund our program. We almost always spend more on vet care than the adoption fees we charge.
We are a spay/neuter voucher program serving stray cats in Brazos County, Texas. We rescue and rehome a limited number of cats and kittens when they cannot safely remain where found.

Adoption steps

  1. Meet the Pet
Email BCSSpayDay@gmail.com or Facebook message BCS Spay for help picking the right cat. Meet cats 2:30-5pm Saturday College Station Petsmart
  2. Submit Application
Tell us about your living situation (cats, dogs, kids?) & what you are looking for in a cat or kitten so we can help you find the best match
  3. Sign Adoption Contract
Must agree to keep the cat indoors and return the cat to us (not a shelter) if unable to keep it an any point in the future.
  4. Pay Fee
Our usual adoption fees are $100 for kittens under 6 months, $75 for kittens 6 months to a year old, and $50 for adult cats. Spayed/neutered
  5. Take the Pet Home
We will meet you at the College Station Petsmart on University Ave. We usually include free nail clippers, a bowl, and a few toys.

Additional adoption info

Email us at BCSSpayDay@gmail.com for an adoption application. You must have permission from your landlord if renting. Any other pets must be spayed/neutered and up to date on their shots. You must plan to keep the cat indoors. Once your application is approved (usually within a few days), we will help you pick a cat or kitten that fits what you are looking for and meet to complete the adoption. Or visit our adoption events 2-5pm most Saturdays at the College Station Petsmart on University Ave (back by the cat litter). The adoption contract requires you to return the cat to us if you are ever unable to keep him/her for any reason. Adoption fees range from $50-100 (cash, check to BCS Spay, credit/debit card or PayPal). Cats and kittens have been spayed/neutered, microchipped for identification, and are up to date on their shots (FVRCP and rabies).
