Rescue FAQs

We are a volunteer-driven organization working in San Diego County for nearly 25 years. We want to ensure that rabbits are not adopted out unaltered, that they find good homes where they will be cherished as indoor family companions, and that we educate our community on the responsible care of indoor rabbit companions.
San Diego House Rabbit Society is a chapter of the internationally known House Rabbit Society. We are based in San Diego, CA and serve the counties of San Diego and southwest Riverside. Our responsibility is to assist shelters in the care of their rabbits, including providing spay/neuter surgeries for more than 300 rabbits each year. We take rabbits into our adoption center when shelters can no longer care for them. Rabbits are spayed or neutered, litter box trained, and adopted only to indoor homes. We educate the public on the responsible care of indoor rabbit companions.
